Proof that Wenger and Arsenal HAVE changed transfer mindset?

I know that a lot of Arsenal fans are starting to get a bit nervous about the fact that we are still waiting for the second signing of the summer after the early announcement that the admittedly highly rated Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac was coming to us from Schalke.

I know that because I have the same feeling myself and when you start to consider the fact that our club has spent the grand total of bugger all so far, as the young defender signed on a free transfer, it is easy to start rolling your eyes and thinking that this is going to be the same old story.

Maybe not though, and even though I finally lost patience with Arsene Wenger last season I still cannot see him ignoring all the pressure and protests. There are always a lot of Arsenal transfer rumours, of course, but having written more articles about them than many people have read I do get the impression that the Frenchman means business this summer.

He may still fail in his attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe or Alexandre Lacazette but for a change it will not be through lack of trying. I could be wrong, but one recent nugget of Arsenal transfer news backs up my theory. Did you see the comments from FC Barcelona about their attempt to sign Bellerin?

They were shocked at how stubborn and unmovable Wenger had been because in the past they had always at least been able to negotiate. This time he is apparently having nothing to do with them and so they have just about given up. Now if that is true it must bode well for Arsenal don’t you think? Has Le Prof changed and if he has will it finally be the year Arsenal get back to doing what we did in his first decade as manager?

  1. I have seen enough of Wenger intrigue, its just too early to judge Monsieur. Wait until September 1st, I just hope no Kalstrom or Sylvestre “marquee signings”

  2. “That young defender signed on a free transfer” is paid 120 grand a week. Arsenal doesn’t just pay such amount to all ‘out of contract’ players. His transfer was planned as early as last season. It is not just that they see some free stuff and get it.

    1. Done Deal, they already signed, this time last week… 35 years ago!??

  3. Your being very hopeful considering recent transfer windows, Believe when i see it,Lacazette will only be a start must add more top top players and also release a lot of deadwood, And keep Sanchez, Other than that i predict a stormy season again.

    1. I’m not sure about that one, I’ll have to wait until I see it with mayonnaise?? I’ll ketchup with you later ?

    2. Most things he has said have come through mate. Lacazette is in the bag and he explained exactly how it was going to happen. Could be a lucky guess or he has a good contact.

  4. I personally believe problem with Arsenal is with players more than Manager. I am also certain that any other manager with this team would not perform as much as now (like ManUtd without Ferguson). Players have been very inconsistent with their form. One season it seems Walcott has neared his potential then follows injury and next season he does not even seem fit to play. Remember that season when Ramsey was everybody’s taking character. We even said that he was like a new signing. He would probably have been Player of the Season if not for injury. Then again after injury, that player seems lost. Top class players like Santi Carzola and Wilshere are always unavailable due to injury. Same is the story with many players.

It always seems one or two players would turn us into real force, then some other trusted player stays out of form (may be sanchez next season if he stays.)

But I think this season will be different as there is a point to made. Arsenal being out of champions league and Wenger nearing his 70s probably suggesting following 2 years are his last, he would not take this period lightly and neither will the board. I also think we will have satisfactory transfer session this summer.

  5. if after the first game he says our players are not fit yet sack him because thats what he did last year against Liverpool, disgrace.wenger out

  6. Aulas has said that Lacazette is a medical away from joining Arsenal. It’s agreed, all done just waiting on the announcement once the medical is completed. Welcome Lacazette, welcome to hell!!! ..just kidding.

  7. We started well with Sead on a free transfer. Getting one of Bundesliga top LBs for free is awesome.

However, we need a few more in my opinion
    1. A top striker
    2. Another good quality RB (like Mahrez)
    3. If Alexis leaves another quality player like Reus, Shaarwy, Gotze,
    4. If Debuchy and Jenkinson leave get a RB
    —-
Will NOT happen because Wenger does not like DMs but get a good DM like Gueye, Carvalho, Matic, Casemiro, Matuidi

  8. Am I the only one who seen that Lacazette is a medical away from joining. Aulas said it himself.

  9. Actually its not cuz Arsene Waenger has changed but more like situation has changed. The time when Arsene Wenger was easily want to negotiate with Barcelona is the time when we must recover our finances from building a new stadium so theres many players that have to get sold.

  10. I don’t blame the jesters but I blame myself for not having the powers to roll back the years to when my darling team was great,to when it was a pride being an arsenal fan was great, when after 90minutes we would have won a lost game and the bragging rights was always on the side of the die hard fans.but that was in the days when men were men and the queen was a follower.I hope such days will revisit arsenal.I now call on everybody that loves arsenal either as a worker or a follower to strive and bring back those days.Arsenal till I die.
