Pundits give their predictions on the Arsenal v Brighton game

Pundits cast their eyes over Arsenal v Brighton and predict the result.

It is always interesting to hear what the pundits are predicting when Arsenal play. Even if one disagrees with their opinions.

On this occasion, I have to say I cannot disagree with any of the three gentlemen I have highlighted here.

Mark Lawrenson

The former Liverpool defender and BBC columnist is going for an Arsenal win. He predicts that Freddie Ljungberg’s men will run out 2-0 winners. However, his opinion is not so much based on how good Arsenal is but rather how poor Brighton are at scoring goals.

Michael Owen

The former England international, writing for his BetVictor blog, is predicting that both teams will score with Arsenal emerging victorious. As usual, he does not give a score, just the outcome.

Charlie Nicholas

I covered Charlie’s prediction in another article here but for those that have not read it, the former Celtic and Arsenal forward is going for a 3-1 win for Arsenal.

So, a unanimous opinion from all three, Arsenal will win and for two of them, by at least a couple of goals.

It should be noted that most pundits have been getting their Arsenal predictions wrong in recent weeks. In fact, they are not the only ones, I cannot remember the last time I got it right.

For the record, I have gone with a 2-1 win for the lads.

Let me know if you agree or disagree with the pundits in the comments section below.

  1. This will be a tight game……….tighter than Kroenke`s Wallet…………..I think we will just about edge a close game in injury time 9-0.

  2. I’ve already said in the last article posting that comes tomorrow at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League, Arsenal will beat Brighton in the PL match encounter between the duo club sides and will beat them with a heavy defeat in the match. The heavy defeat is a 4-0 home match win to Arsenal.

  3. I am scared to predict that Arsenal will win but as a fan, l wish the team a fantastic win tomorrow. 1-0 could be fantastic as long as it is a clean sheet

  4. Emery was given the ultimatum Top 4 or the sack.
The same should apply to Llungberg top 4 or the sack.
    Llugberg has many advantages.
He speaks English,he has played in the PL he has already
worked with the players for months.
    No excuses.
    Top 4 or the sack.
PS No reinforcements in January either.
Same squad same ultimatum CL or the sack.

  5. Play three CBs with DMF in front. Then use two wingers/wing backs to patrol each wing in defense and attack when necessary.

So essentially a 5-3-2, but with our two wing back types quick to transition into attack, and on orders to defend first.

That means the freedom for the front three of Ozil, Auba, Laca to do enough damage. A clean sheet is a must. Winning 1-0 is better than a 3-3 draw.

Our center backs are not good enough to play defensive high line as they cannot chase. They should stay back to be in front of the ball and the opposition when the counter attack comes. Most of the goals against Arsenal is conceded in the counters when the pressure leads to mental mistakes.

Then once the ball is won back, let the HMF (Luiz) in particular connect with Ozil, Auba and Laca, supported by the wing backs. Longer through passes are essential as they have been practicing. Have Luiz as the HMF, as he is experienced, can dribble and tackle, but liability in at defender.

  6. Leno,
    Bel, Chambers, holding, tierney
    Luis,
    Pepe, ozil, guend/xhaka, abu
    Laca
This is what I would like to see with the only change being the midfield spot. This xhaka spot is the most contentious and I could put many in there.

    1. If we are to play in Leicester mode, aubameyang should be leading the line and flanked by martinelli and pepe.
