Ramsey starts in confirmed Arsenal XI to face Norwich

Despite the concerns over the fitness of the heavily worked forward Alexis Sanchez, not many Arsenal fans or football observers really expected Arsene Wenger to leave his star man out of the Arsenal starting line up for the away game at Norwich City today and so it is no surprise to see the Chileanยดs name on Wengerโ€™s team sheet.

The prof has chosen to go with his fellow Frenchman Mathieu Flamini to provide the cover and steel in front of the back four that Francis Coquelin had been doing so well until his injury last weekend. Calum Chambers is on the bench and we might well see him get another chance in that role as well.

Another player on the bench is Joel Campbell as the fit again Aaron Ramsey takes his place on the right but once again there is a good chance that we could see the young Costa Rican forward at some point in the match. Apart from these two positions the Gunners line up is pretty predictable these days and looks to have plenty of quality and the right balance to get the Premier League title race up and running after the disappointment of defeat to West Brom last time out.

Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Flamini, Cazorla
Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez

Subs: Ospina, Debuchy, Gabriel, Chambers, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Reine-Adelaide, Campbell.

We need this one Arsenal so Come On You Gunners, letโ€™s see some goals.

  1. Eddy Hoyte says:

why the hell is Campbell on the bench?? great! just great!! he plays one fantastic match after a few bad ones then you put him on the bench the next game, you killing or building his confidence?? Typical Wenger.
Anyways would like to see Adelaide brought in for Sanchez.

    1. Zulu-boy-SA says:

Campbell had his chance man, he’s been awful. We need Ramsey on the right.

      1. medvet says:

Really?, ramsey today is just awnful…

    2. muffdiver says:

i was critical of campbell , but after last games performance-he deserves another shot
wenger is giving him no chnace to build form and momentum
      feel for him

other than that , yeah decent line up

would love to know why gabriel is getting no playing time
he looked so good with kos early on

      1. GoonerLad says:

Because this is Wenger we’re talking about, he’s too loyal to players that directly affect our winning credentials

    3. mohawk says:

Forget all the other considerations. Wenger will ALWAYS choose Ramsey over Campbell (or anyone else for that matter).

  2. Twig says:

I remember how some folks were saying the reason for Ramsey’s great 2013/14 form was because Wenger was playing on the right wing in the seasons prior, LoL. Now we know better ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. GoonerLad says:

Ramsey scores goals when he plays in the centre, the reason he does is because he has more space and understands how to play in tight space from experience on the RW.

  3. Koss the Boss says:

Good enough for the 3points… lets smash this lot!!

  4. lupe says:

Dropping campbell for ramsey just sure why our players don’t lack motivation some times and lose games they are meant to win. How can wenger sub a rw that played well in the last game and put in a player who is a cm and who just came back from injury in the starting line up. This type of shit shows that no matter how hard you try, wenger would always fall back to his favorites.. what happened to giving a player confidence by rewarding good performances. Ramsey just came back from injury and he is straight in the starting line up after just one sub appearance. No need to build up his fitness right? Is he messi? I wonder what campbell must be thinking. Anyways rant over.. Hoping for a 3-0 win.

  5. Zulu-boy-SA says:

Campbell and Oxlade all had their chances in Ramsey’s absence and they failed to impress.

    1. GoonerLad says:

Campbell impressed, unlike Oxlade he actually has end product and knows how to score in CL and World Cup games, but that’s none of my business

  6. Flaminowski says:

Good to see ramsey and chambo back

  7. rkw says:

Other than gab for mert it’s our best xi right now …. Need to come out of blocks quickly… Slow starts are a killer for us

  8. Colin says:

If he doesn’t trust Campbell he needs to sell the lad in January to a manager ewho will give him the run of games he deservese. I can’t understand why AW is rushing Ramsey back, especially as he had been bigging Joel up just before the game. It feels like a lost opportunity.

    1. Krish says:

i dont think he is rushing him back.. he is just giving ramsey the game so that ramsey can build the match fitness and in my opinion thats the right decision cause in my best XI ramsey is the one on the right slot and we finally have a good depth in the right wing and you want to sell a great squad/first-team player in campbell?

  9. Kaido says:

I honestly think Wenger wants Ramsey to leave, the guy has said numerous times that he basically HATES playing on the wing, yet he goes and slaps him there
Dont be surprised when the barca rumours start flying in in January

  10. Robin Vanpayslip says:

There are 3 things in life that are certain. Death, taxation and Ozil will get an assist

  11. Fatboy Gooney says:

I miss the days of hearing the song “we are the champions”
    Being played at Highbury! ?

The only song I hear now is ” I got you babe”
from Groundhog Day! ? Please stop!.. I can’t take it anymore.

    Come on you Gunners!

  12. Mo1 says:

Weak pathetic players at arsenal it’s a joke

  13. RWRW says:

7 minutes in with no challenges and we have an injury. We are a bunch of pu$$ies

  14. jt says:

its just ridiculous now, how can we accept this amount of injuries for nearly a decade? wth is wrong with wenger??

  15. rkw says:

wow…when will wenger learn to motivate players?

  16. ras911 says:

    ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Krish says:

this negativity here is funny and ridiculous ๐Ÿ˜€

  18. Krish says:

    brilliant finish POTS ร–zil ๐Ÿ˜€

  19. RWRW says:

Now that ladies and gentleman is a world class goal

  20. Greg says:

1-0 gunners mesut ozil!!!!! 4 more goals to go! Coyg!

  21. G-Rude says:

This is looking easy. Keep it up boys!
Does that count as an Ozil assist for Ozil’s goal!

  22. rkw says:

has giroud touched the ball yet??

  23. rkw says:

    ridiculous team …..we really are

  24. juhislihis says:

    Worst time to concede LOL

  25. Koss the Boss says:

Half hearted performance jesus christ how bad are the top teams this year… nearly 2-1 down. Lack of concentration now typical Arsenal

  26. RWRW says:

    Is Giroud even playing?

  27. gunnerman8701 says:

And people wonder why pundits are reluctant to believe in Arsenal. Very ridiculous defending. Don’t look like a title winning team in my opinion.

    1. joeboy says:

Wenger dont know how to build a title winning team otherwise he would have replaced mertsacker by now! And actually got a decent replacement for le coq!

  28. Demwan Jones says:

    Mert is ridiculous

  29. rkw says:

ramsey experiment has failed… had his chance did nothing…bring on campbell or chamberlain…the lack of movement of ramsey and giroud is shocking….

  30. sirjake says:

What is Ramsey doing on the field anyways? and Why is Cambell on the bench??????????

  31. juhislihis says:

This happens often. Our player gets injured early on, sub comes on who hasn’t started in AGES and makes a mistake. You can expect that the next time Campbell plays (maybe in 2 months or so), he will be shite.

  32. Lethal Prince 9 says:

No need to blame Mertesacker, Gabriel needs to take this blame. What an awful positioning from him, wrong side of the defender??

  33. Zulu-boy-SA says:

Sanchez is going to score, calm down everyone.

  34. gamer says:

evryone calm down we got this in the 2nd half. we had the wind facing us 1st half now wind behind us

  35. Lethal Prince 9 says:

And I don’t know why Ramsey is on the pitch for?

I am gonna assume he will not be substituted the whole game.

  36. sirjake says:

45mins gone and no cross from the right???? Ramsey seems to be everywhere? Can someone tell me the position he’s playing please???????

    1. jp says:

he does what he wants… he does want he wants… Aaron Ramsey he does what he wants. lol

  37. rkw says:

good test of wenger …does he actually want to win this game against what can only be described as a mediocre outfit..if so changes at halftime….or at least within 15 mins

    1. jt says:

I’m willing to give you every last penny in my bank account if wenger makes a change after fifteen minutes, let alone at half time. The guy thinks ten to fifteen minutes towards the end of the game is enough time to make an impact. you’ve given me a good idea for a solid weekly bet though, cheers

      1. rkw says:

U won …. The man is an expert in failure

  38. Demwan Jones says:

We need to win this game to have any chance of winning the title

  39. sirjake says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if we go on to lose this much. It has been our trademark for years. Forgive my bad english

    1. jp says:

you’re English is good, just so you know its match and not much ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. jp says:

….better than mine as its your. lmao

  40. sirjake says:

Am so pissed I can’t stay in my room!!!!!!!!

  41. lupe says:

As much as i like to see ramsey play because of his energy and defensive contribution, we need to start using two wingers or wing forwards. That is why i thought campbell should continue on the right especially after the last game. Wenger should buy a propal right winger if he does not trust the others instead of forcing it down ramsey’s throat. When you play teams like this, you need to stretch them using the wings. No service, penetration or runs from the right side, we are making it too easy for them. They need to suffer from both flanks.

  42. You watch Klopp motivating and managing his players pushing them forward when needed, even the mongrel Maureen is jumping and screaming when the team is not performing what WENGER does NOTHING sits there watching how NORWICH overruns our sorry asz defense this man is set up for retirement we need a new young Manager who can fire the team if we ever are to win the EPL

    1. Koss the Boss says:

He needs to go! I said on this in the summer, actually did an article on Klopp to Arsenal because wenger is holding Arsenal back!

  43. Robkrieger says:

Wenger should have started without Flamini, withCambell out on the flank and Ramsey through the middle.

  44. blondin says:

just one question to Wenger’s:WHEN Mert will be released-released,because only someone really dumb would buy him

  45. Fatboy Gooney says:

Same old Arsenal falling to bits!!

jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the wayyyyyy
there’s no fun, in Arsenal son,
    when stuck in Groundhog day!!

    Somebody smash that Radio!
    ?? I got you babe ????????

  46. rkw says:

    get ramsey off its silly

  47. rkw says:

one class striking option aint enough to win anything unfortunately

  48. Koss the Boss says:

    Alexis now injured
    Koss now injured

    Well bloody done!!

  49. RWRW says:

And that is our season finished!!

  50. rkw says:

    oh right….sanchez off now….f@@@@@@ great….comical management

  51. juhislihis says:

And Sanchez limps off injured… Good thing we bought some adequate forwards in the summer.. ohhhh wait

  52. luvdaguns says:

no kos, no alexi, no title

  53. RWRW says:

Season over. Fight for 4th place starts right now

  54. luvdaguns says:

good news, if theo stays true to form, he will return in mid april

  55. gunnerman8701 says:

Let’s try to hold on and not lose. Really not looking good against teams that should almost be guaranteed wind

  56. jackieboy says:

once again wenger you have proved that you are the specialist.

  57. jp says:

…I’m just waiting for Ozil to get injured now…

  58. lupe says:

The debate about if sanchez should be rested or not is finally settled. I am really worried now!!

    1. Fatboy Gooney says:

I said that afew days ago, that he would only get a rest when his injured.

Once again!! the negligence of the deluded one bites back in full effect!

The warning signs could be seen from the moon but hey!
This is Mr Magoo we’re talking about!

And what makes it worse, even the AKB’s backed him on risking Sanchez ? well there you go Joe!
      Who knows best now? ##$#ing #@##ers!! ?

  59. Koss says:

i warned you! am already drinkin…

  60. Robin Vanpayslip says:

This is more painful than watching a woman parallel park

  61. rkw says:

ozil is wasted on this team…he will be leaving soon

  62. rkw says:

giroud or ramsey… what a choice of who goes… but has to be frenchman

  63. Invincibles49 says:

Sanchez’s string snapped eventually. Overplayed. Inevitable. Season is over.

  64. Justsoccerfan says:

Giroud is the most sissy CF I ever watc so easy get bully by defender.

No what wenger? Ramsey like running for breath and you left only one subs.

  65. rkw says:

we are being outplayed by a bunch of jokers…

  66. RWRW says:

Wilshere, Wellbeck, Walcott, Le Coq, Rosicky, Alexis

HAHAHAHAHA You cant write this stuff. Wenger and medical team should be looking for another job!!

    1. RWRW says:

      Oh sorry and Koscielny

  67. Koss the Boss says:

Last week all over again. Gabriel at fault for 1st near cause og the 2nd. Arteta 2.0

  68. joeboy says:

Cant even beat west brom or norwich ?, we are a comincal team! No wonder no pundit ever backs us to win the league

  69. Justsoccerfan says:

Yeah we got a solid excuse to give if we can’t fight for title. INJURIES!!!!!!!!!!!

  70. sirjake says:

And so many on here think Arsene is the only man that can manage Arsenal.

  71. jp says:

    first decent cross all game

  72. juhislihis says:

Looks like our tactic is: go left, Monreal’s cross, straight to Norwich defender’s head, repeat

  73. NIKK says:

    Painful watching

  74. jackieboy says:

Never met wenger, but I actually hate the guy, sad but true

  75. gunnerman8701 says:

Nervous final 15 minutes. We need to not lose this game

  76. Koss the Boss says:

Absolutly sick to my stomach with Arsenal atm. Ffs grow a set each on of you!!

  77. Justsoccerfan says:

Ox is the so worst in his defensive duty. He juz watch player running.

  78. gunnerman8701 says:

How is Mert still in our team? How is Norwich making us look like we playing against Real Madrid?

  79. luvdaguns says:

i dont see any gunner on the pitch that is considered a serious threat to score, giroud is non existant, his positioning off the ball is terrible, campbell just runs around w energy, ozil wants to assist but no one to assist to, santi used to score? maybe ox?

  80. Ronny331 says:

Win lose or draw today I just cant beleieve wenger played alexis. He could have had him on the bench or rested him completely and split game rime between campbell and ox. Lack of faith in squad players and lack rotation drives me mad! Also people who said wed win 5-0 are deluded, a late kick off away in the rain is not arsenals style

  81. Lethal Prince 9 says:

Bellerin has been pathetic until now…

  82. marky958 says:

Usual sh#t! From a sh#t team and Manager, title handed on a plate and Wenger fks it up again, soon as Wenger goes the better!

  83. juhislihis says:

Monreal has been absolutely piss poor

  84. Justsoccerfan says:

Few weeks ago every said our next few game will be more easy sure we will get win most of our games now we are back to our realities, the real arsenal.

  85. RWRW says:

Nothing short of a typical Arsenal performance

  86. Robkrieger says:

  87. gunnerman8701 says:

Wenger and team always messing up when you seem to think they are getting better.

  88. Koss the Boss says:

Just to let everyone know mesut isnt gona stick about for this BS

    1. JAmerican says:

Worse fear but facial expressions and body language says it all for me… This is bad

    2. RWRW says:

Alexis and Ozil are not going to stick around for much more of this utter bull$hit!

Can you blame them? Which world class player wants to have Olivier Giroud as their striking partner? The answer is…. Nobody.

Can we all agree now after almost 4 years Olivier Giroud is just not good enough for an entire season for Arsenal

  89. jt says:

    we seriously miss walcott

  90. gunnerman8701 says:

Man City go ahead and take the league.

  91. seaneverdries says:

    Bad day…..

  92. InternationalArsenal says:

Where are all the people who predicted a 4-0 win to arsenal ?

    I hate Wenger .

  93. juhislihis says:

    Goodbye “title chase”

  94. Mo1 says:

Only arsenal can make a team with 2 wins in 10 look like barca lol
Just as I predicted and where’s that t***** G.rude now???

    Bellerin, monreal ramsey,Giroud absolute stinkers

Like I said sadly no heart no bottle that’s Arsenal.

  95. nyc says:

This is management at its worst. Played alexis sanchez despite concerns over his fitness and calf issues. Result: he is probably out for a month or two along with our best defender koscielny and our only dmf coquelin. Not a single player bought during the summer and now short of players exactly when the busiest period arrives near Christmas. And yes: gained a single point against WBA and Norwich and that’s why arsenal won’t be champions till a good few more years

  96. Alusine says:

Once again, once ARSENAL are always Arsenal forward never backward ever that a shame same f***ing s**t different days just tired with this bull s**t

  97. gmv8 says:

The problem is we are running on injuries – Kos, Alexis and Coquelin were all known to be near the edge, yet because we sold/loaned far more outfield players than we bought (0), we have no one who can fill their shoes. You cannot run on petrol vapours and expect to complete the journey. There is no excuse – answers please AW and Kroenke.

  98. BUR says:

That man is making me ill. Get him away tf. If he had any respect for the club he would say “here I am away”

  99. BUR says:

Gerioud must be tired cos he is never off his arse!

  100. dboy says:

Reality bites once again. No adequate back up for injured players. How many times has this happened before? I laughed when people started talking about us winning the league. With the poor planning that went on during the transfer window. And don’t say get over the transfer thing, cause that was the reason for today’s result and the one before.
