Ranger’s move for brilliant Arsenal youngster still in doubt (plus video)

The Arsenal and USA starlet Gedion Zelalem was expected to go off for a six-month loan deal at Glasgow Rangers, but now it seems that the deal could be hijacked by Fulham, Charlton or Birmingham City as more clubs have been alerted to his availability. Zelalem has been in excellent form for the USA in the U20 World Cup during the summer.

The German-born youngster was first spotted by Arsenal as a 14 year-old playing in a varsity team in Maryland. Despite living in America he was picked for the Germany U15-U17 sides before gaining US citizenship this year, just in time to be picked for the summer internationals.

He is extremely highly-rated and it is believed that Arsene Wenger was keen on him to play for six months with Rangers to help him cope with the physical side of the game. He visited their training ground and was expected to sign up, but now a Rangers source has told the Daily Record: “There’s been no agreement. The talks went well but there are other options on the table and it’s up to Gedion to decide which one suits him best.”

Now that he has offers from London clubs in Fulham and Charlton, perhaps both him and Wenger would prefer to have him stay locally, although he may not be guaranteed so many games. I can certainly tell you why all these teams are interested in him as you can watch this excellent compilation of his skills. He is certainly talented and is not averse to a bit of showboating either!

Enjoy…

  1. Locally will help him best, we all know how tough the english league is that inludes championship side etc.. He needs to have a taste of what he’ll be facing years later when he’ll be in first team. but wherever he chooses to go, we wish him luck and many more beautiful games

      1. I would rather he real news about real players than click bait fantasies about fictional transfers. This was a good article.

  2. Wasn’t chalton that Le coq played with before his breakthrough??? If yes, then I say chalton is the answer. Who knows what they are eating there? Lolz

    1. Alex Song went to Charlton and hes still not good enough….

Coq went to Charlton and back and still not good enough….

spend the money sign a DM Wenger!!

      1. So u saying charlton ain’t a good breeding ground?…. U just think like a jellyfish sometimes hafiz!

  3. dont see the point of rangers for gedion.

championship side, one of the fast moving sides with a decent sized ground so he comes accustomed to the pace and pressure of english football

    1. BUT they get 50,000 at home matches, so there’s pressure, and teams are more physical. He can learn to skip past the neanderthals!

    1. Maitland-Niles got himself an assist yesterday for Ipswich. Tonight on fire: Akpom, Martinez and, former Arsenal youngster Afobe (sigh).

        1. Is all about potential. In my opinion Afobe looks like what he is – a decent Championship striker. There are a couple of dozen guys in the lower leagues knocking them in for fun like he has been – why aren’t we looking at them? Akpom has a lot to learn but I reckon his ceiling is a lot higher – has all the attributes of an apex predator striker, physicality, pace, skill – just needs time to develop.

  4. Admin you’re right. I just saw it on Skysports. Wenger need to act fast et not wait till the end of the transfers windows. Chelsea hijack the pedro deal to united by triggering the clause. just like they did with willian to tottenham. if we can’t have a world class striker I won’t mind Austin or Berahino + a good DM. COYG

  5. @Gunner I think they’re just waiting for a better offer. If we tried we could get him he’s a dangerous striker and very mobile. he could turn out to be a great buy for us.

    1. @Timack

(Spurs have had an £18million offer for the forward rebuffed by West Brom, who value the 22-year-old at £25m.)
Personally i dont see Wenger as one to Hijack a deal, he’s usually the one that gets hijacked…Although it would be good to hi-jack a spuds deal esp since they so desperate…with only Kane upfront, who iznt exactly performing so far..

  6. @Gunner I think they’re just waiting for a better offer. If we try we could get him he’s a dangerous striker and very mobile.

  7. So Man Utd dropped interest in signing Pedro according to skysport. They just don’t want to meet his rlease clause, which is hard to believe because with the money they have its nothing adding 5 mil for them. With RVP and Falcao gone, I think they are upto something.
So now there are reports that Chelsea is trying to sign Pedro after Man Utd dropped the interest.

  8. Chelsea just signed Pedro. Now with Rahman, Begovic, Falcao and Pedro they have added 4 players to their team.
United have added 4 as well and will probably buy more.
City have added Sterling and now Otamendi and will probably add DeBruyne as well.
Liverpool have added 6 and do look a better side already.
We have added “0” outfield players to our team that came in third last year. The “we are building a stadium” excuse is over. We have the funds, we have a team that is 2-3 players away to put on a serious challenge, so what is the excuse of not being active in the market?
We could have bought Pedro, or Vidal or Schneiderlin or Kongdobia or Otamendi all these players changed teams and any one of them would be an upgrade in their positions.
So saying that there are no players to buy to upgrade our team is a false excuse, only children will believe that.
So what really is the reason Arsenal is not buying? It really seems criminal to me. If any CEO of a company failed to invest the funds they had to better the business while the competition was passing them by, they would have been fired by now.

  9. Unless United have someone else planned it would be a silly move. Pay nearly 30 mil for Fellaini, 30 + mil for Mata but won’t pay 21 mil for Pedro. At any rate I don’t think him going to Chelsea is anything good for Arsenal in any respect especially IF United have someone else planned.

In 1 regard I think United already ave someone else in the pipeline. It can’t be the case that they’re haggling over a few million, which in any case is not good.

Secondly Chelsea’s weaker link has been their right side and if Pedro does end up there which looks pretty much done a front 3 of Hazard, Willian/Fabregas/Oscar, Pedro with Costa up top could be the prem’s most potent front line. Not good for Arsenal.

Which makes our lack of transfer activity so strange. I wonder if Wegner Genuinely feels our squad is capable of competing with both Manchester clubs and Chelsea

    1. yeah thats what I mean, Man Utd refusing to pay 21 mil does not make sense after all the negotiation.Because they obviously have the money and they have paid more than that for other players.

  10. I am sure Man Utd is going to sign some one big, not wanting to add few mil and because for them to dropped the interest just like that, they are upto something.Chelsea is going to sign Pedro. And city is going to sign Otamandi and De Bruyne. This three clubs has already bought players but they are still strengthening. What is Wenger doing?

    1. because they have a serious manager who can at least acknowledge weaknesses in his squad and try to act on it …whereas we have a pseudo footballing philosopher at the helm who is living in a by-gone era …reveiller et sentir le café imbécile….

    2. 4th time lucky eh for a Chelsea wide man; Schurrle in then out, De Bruyne in then out, Cuadrado in then probably out, Pedro in…………

  11. BREAKING NEWS:Arsenal have made a £35m bid for sensational korean striker Fuk-In-No-Wan.The striker is expected to do his medical later today.Elsewhere,Cohesion and Team spirit have passed their medicals and are expected to start training soon
