Christian Norgaard’s time at Arsenal appears to be nearing an end, with David Ornstein reporting that Everton have reached an agreement in principle with the Gunners over the experienced midfielder.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the 32-year-old is expected to join the Toffees in a deal worth around £7 million, although the transfer still requires formal completion. A medical is expected to take place next week ahead of the proposed move.

A short Arsenal stay looks set to end
Norgaard only arrived at the Emirates last summer after completing his move from Brentford, bringing Premier League experience and leadership to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
His signing was viewed as a sensible addition to provide depth and experience in midfield, but his Arsenal career now looks set to end after just one season if this latest report is finalised.
The Dane also recently announced his retirement from international football, explaining that he wanted to focus fully on the latter stages of his club career. That decision now appears likely to be made as an Everton player rather than an Arsenal one.
Midfield reshuffle continues
Arsenal’s midfield has undergone significant changes this summer, and Norgaard’s proposed departure would represent another step in that evolution.
The Gunners have continued to reshape the squad, with opportunities and departures forming part of the club’s wider planning ahead of the new campaign.
Arsenal are carefully assessing their midfield options with Bruno Guimaraes widely tipped to be announced as an Arsenal player imminently, and the story of this transfer window is Vinicius Junior’s potential move to Arsenal.
While the move is not yet complete, Ornstein’s update suggests the deal is now progressing towards its final stages, with only the remaining formalities and a medical left to complete.
If everything goes according to plan, Norgaard could soon be swapping north London for Merseyside.

Disappointed with this move as he has been given very few opportunities. When called upon he also performed well as a CB. We have CB issues with Saliba this season.
One of panic buys because of the departure of Partey it seems. Sad to see him leave so early though
His one season at Arsenal brought the glory of a league title and the memories of being part of that squad and the adulation of the crowds at the victory parade

Another unexplainable loss in the transfer market. Why did we buy him? Everton have a model player, I hope for them, he has some good years left.
I’ve never understood that Arteta didn’t use Norgaard any more, especially in light of the fact that Zubimendi at one point made many big costly mispasses, which I’ve never seen Norgaard make. When Zubimendi was tired, he did not use Norgaard either, completely incomprehensibly. Perhaps Arteta had promised Zubimendi a central role in the team. I don’t know. The games I have seen Norgaard play, he has IMO played quite well and in one match he was even named MOTM. But for Norgaard’s sake, it’s probably an okay choice for him, as he’s too good to sit on the bench all the time. Sad to see him leave so early though.
As others have said seriously underused last season. I suppose we’ll never know why Arteta didn’t use him more. Wish him all the best if he does go to Everton.
