“Right now he seems to be riding the crest of a wave.” Former player hails Arsenal man

Gabriel Martinelli is arguably the most in-form player at Arsenal now, and his form has impressed most football fans.

We have enjoyed watching the Brazilian in recent weeks, and his stunning performance in the Gunners’ last game against Leeds United has won him even more admirers.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been banished from the club’s first team, and that has left a huge void in the attack.

Martinelli has stepped up well, and former Leeds United man, Noel Whelan, cannot help but lavish him with praise in a recent interview.

“We know what a great player he is, we’ve seen glimpses in the past. He’s still very young, but right now he seems to be riding the crest of a wave” he told Football Insider.

“He’s full of confidence, full of beans – not just going forwards, I love what he does at the other end too. He tracks back brilliantly.

“He can be crucial for Arsenal in the run-in if he can keep up this amazing form. He’s very clever with his movement and running – and that willingness makes him more important than having someone like Aubameyang.

“Right now, he’s doing exactly what Arteta wants from him.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Martinelli is stepping up at the right time, and fans can only pray he remains in top form for the rest of this season.

The former Ituano man has always looked like a class act and he is now proving it with his recent performances for the Gunners.

As the club plots how many attackers they would need to sign, he could save them a lot of money in the market.
