Gabriel Jesus could be edging closer to an Arsenal exit after Fabrizio Romano revealed that Napoli have opened discussions over a potential move for the Brazilian striker.
According to Romano, Napoli have made contact with Jesus’ camp after initial reports from Globo, although Arsenal are insisting that any departure must be on a permanent deal rather than a loan. Romano also adds that the forward is now represented by the same agency as Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
The Italian journalist’s update suggests the situation is gathering momentum, although discussions are still at an early stage.

Arsenal only want a permanent transfer
This latest development follows previous reports that Arsenal are prepared to part ways with Jesus this summer as they continue reshaping their squad.
Back in April, it was reported that the Gunners had placed a €30 million valuation on the Brazilian, who has entered the final year of his contract. Interest at that stage came from Palmeiras and AC Milan, with Arsenal believed to be open to offers as they planned changes to their attacking options.
Romano’s latest update appears to reinforce that stance, with Arsenal reportedly making it clear to Napoli that only a permanent transfer will be considered.

There is no doubt that, when fully fit, Gabriel Jesus remains a hugely talented forward capable of leading the line or playing across the front three.
Unfortunately, injuries have regularly disrupted his time in North London, making it difficult for him to establish the consistency both he and Arsenal would have hoped for. Those fitness issues have fuelled speculation over his future for some time, and with Arsenal looking to refresh their attacking options, this summer may prove to be the natural point for both club and player to move in different directions.
Whether Napoli can meet Arsenal’s demands remains to be seen, but Romano’s report is the clearest indication yet that the Serie A champions are seriously exploring a deal.

I’ve heard it said on here many a time that our sell on value with a lot of players is worse than useless, and to be fair that’s pretty accurate in recent times.
But I can’t help feeling that Arsenal have made a rod for their own back. Just think how many players we let go out on loan rather than a straight sale. And this is where I mean a rod for their own back.
Teams cottoned on to this very early, and would only be interested in loan deals, hence the value of said player diminishing as the seasons tick by. An obvious case in point is Nelson. Just how many more times are Arsenal going to loan him out.
I used to watch him in our under 21’s, that just shows you how long he’s been at the club.

If your a club interested, why are you going to pay the asking price ?
Your going to wait for the last second of the window for a cut price fee , a loan or even for Arsenal to rip up a contract . Arsenal have shown their cards based on how often they just want to get players off the wage bill .
As for Jesus , think due to his injury record and a year left on his deal , we would struggle to get allot

I totally agree. Loans are alright once or twice at a push for said player, but there comes a time the club need to make up their mind on that said player.
I feel like the structure and tactics have evolved since Jesus was bought.
He’s become a third choice option for us right now, good at maintaining a press, resisting defenders, and keeping the ball moving through low blocks and tight areas. But without the brute force or clinical touch we need right now in a center forward. We just don’t really have the space for his talents regularly enough anymore while also fielding two wingers, a 10 and a 9… it provides another tactical option maybe, but then his injury record and salary also become issues.
So if he can get more playing time at Napoli or Milan it’s a good move for both parties.
Counter productive if Jesus stays. I don’t see him positively. Enough with Jesus!!! Neither good for the team nor himself. Should be in Berta’s dossier
If they even 20 m euros AFC should take it and part ways as there is a huge wage bill saving as well for an almost non-playing member of the squad.
