Sesko’s agent explains why Arsenal talks broke down

Benjamin Sesko was considered Arsenal’s preferred striker target in the summer as the Gunners spoke to him and Viktor Gyokeres. In the summer of 2024, Arsenal had hoped to add him to their squad and were keen for the move to happen, but he chose to remain at RB Leipzig for one more season.

Arsenal did not sign another striker during that window, and it appeared they would return for him the following year, which they eventually did. For several weeks, the club held talks with Sesko and RB Leipzig over a potential transfer to the Emirates, but the negotiations did not progress significantly. As a result, Arsenal shifted their focus towards signing Gyokeres, who has now joined the squad.

The Arrival of Viktor Gyokeres

The Swedish forward hopes he will make the club proud to have signed him, and the Gunners are eager to see how he integrates into the team. While Sesko was highly rated and could have been a key addition, Gyokeres represents an alternative solution in attack. The emphasis now turns to the new signing to demonstrate his abilities and meet the expectations associated with his arrival.

The question of why a move for Sesko did not materialise was addressed by his agent. Elvis Basanovic who said via the Daily Mail, “It’s hard to say exactly. Whenever a deal doesn’t go through, there are always several factors. In the end, everything has to align for it to happen.” This statement highlights the complexity of football transfers, where multiple elements must align for a deal to be successfully completed.

Looking Ahead for Arsenal

Although Sesko would have strengthened the squad, Arsenal now have Gyokeres to rely on as their new striker. The focus is on the Swedish player to prove his worth and justify the club’s decision to sign him. Supporters will be watching closely to see how he adapts and whether he can contribute effectively to the team’s campaign.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Sesko and the eventual signing of Gyokeres underlines the unpredictable nature of the transfer market, demonstrating that timing, negotiations, and player decisions all play a crucial role in determining outcomes.

  1. What?

Seskos agent “explains” why Arsenal talks broke down….. “it’s hard to say really”🤔

Glad he cleared that up for us. 😳

  2. We called their bluff. They didn’t want to commit early and have a bidding war among clubs. They also didn’t believe our Gyokores interest was real. Glum faces all round when we switched focus. They tried to get us to come back to the table, but we had grown tired of their tactics. And now they are left with mid-table mediocrity and probably a different manager in six months.

  3. Sesko is a quality player and would have been nice to have him.
But I’m happy we got Gyokores
He is capable of scoring over 20 goals this season Hopefully, he will

    1. the team needs a 20+ striker in league not one who struggles to even score 15 in Germany

  4. With or without sesko, we highly needed an out and out striker who could deliver the end product of our team’s attacks. Let’s hope he stays fit and delivers ASAP

  5. Let him keep his story to himself we’re no longer interested let him inform Manchester United fans how he landed to a mid table team and concentrate there.

  6. How does the agent saying ‘ It’s hard to say exactly ‘ explain why the transfer broke down, or am I missing something.

    1. Marty, you’re just not getting an explanation from the attorney or politician. You weren’t supposed to think long enough about what was actually said to notice. I believe it’s called trying to make something out of nothing in journalistic circles.

  7. Having read the article, I believe I’ve found the reason the Arsenal talks broke down.

Apparently there are multiple elements that have to align. And I believe the fact that the stars didn’t align were clear factors in this communication breakdown.

Have I convinced anyone that I believe what I’m saying in this post. 😂👍

I will say that my explanation is still better than Sesko’s agent though. 😂👍

  8. The wanted to play hard to get and arsenal shifted there mind when they know this is serious but arsenal didn’t want look back..
Gyokores did everything to join arsenal and that’s the passion we wanted…
Arsenal sign a player who want them with his heart…
