Should Arsenal be top of Spanish wonderkid’s plans?

Arsenal have unearthed a number of Spanish gems over the years, as well as youngsters from a number of other countries also, and are currently linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Cesar Gelabert.

The Under-19 star is yet to get called up to the senior side, but his performances in the UEFA Youth League have attracted attention to his ability, and Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on his signature.

Arsenal are known for their ability to blood youngsters into the first-team, highlighted by Bukayo Saka, Willock, Nketiah and Martinelli this term, but backed even more-so by previous Barcelona youths Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin.

We have continued to raid Spanish giants for their top youth prospects over the years, but none have managed to breakthrough since the full-back’s emergence in 2014, with Fran Merida and Jon Toral failing to break into contention for regular action.

Gelabert could now become the latest raid on Spain, with the likelihood that he would start next term with our U23 side, while if he was to impress, the League Cup and possibly Europa League (depending on qualification) could be his opportunity to impress manager Mikel Arteta.

Gabriel Martinelli started the campaign very much on the fringes after his move from Brazil’s fourth tier, but after some extra-ordinary displays in the Europa, was able to earn himself a regular place in the playing squad, and established himself as a wonderkid within our ranks.

It remains to be seen just how much potential that Gelabert possesses, nor just how strongly Real Madrid rate the midfielder in order to try and keep him, but with Lyon and Borussia Dortmund also believed to be interested, he could well be an exciting prospect should we land him.

Should Spanish players favour a move to the Emirates due to our previous progression?

  1. No, because it’all relative. Obviously a player like Ozil, for example, does not need 350k a week to live. Equally though, someone on say 25k a year, could just about get by on less, so should that person also give up part of their wages to help someone else less fortunate?

It shows up why Socialism is so dangerous. It’s basically theft, by force.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think the wealthy could be helping out more. E.g. Instead of laying off employees, these multi billionaires could dip into their own pocket to help out. Some of them are so rich, they would only be touching a part of their interest.

    1. Third ManJW, What socialism actually is, is the oppposite of REAL liberalism where the government, under a socialist regime, decides how and where people may spend their money. True liberalism, which word is widely understood, is far more akin to ethical capitalism with a conscience and for the good of all in society.
Ethical capitalism is the only workable system which takes into account the natural human urge to put them and their own family first. This is not a noble urge but it is a human and natural one. The art of the practcally possible is to run a system that all will comply with and which benefits all.
The basic flaw with wholesale and Corbyn style Socialism is that it works against, not with, human nature. The historic facts in Britain are that every Labour government has left the countrys finances worse off when they left office than it was when they came in. Even under Blair, who was the least overtly socialist Labour government in history. Socialism fails to see that the super rich control real power, which is naive, of them and though it’s not morally right, is what has happened throughout human history, the world over Filthy rich folk remain filthy rich but make sure their capital is beyond reach of a socialist government. This is directly why so many rich French folk left France and many came here, when the Macron government and the one before that esp, took power. Folk could see that socialism made almost all poorer. Liberalism , properly understood, works with ,not against human nature. It is NOT illiberal though to regain as much as possible of the peolpe power we once had as fooball fans, from the corporate “gangsters” who have wielded their massive power in an illiberal and unethical bad capitalism way. TRUE ETHICAL CAPITALISMWORKS FOR EVERYONES BENEFIT Corporate gangsterism destroys, like Kroenke and his ghastly ilk, infects society in as deadly a way as does this virus. NO TO SOCIALISM AND NO TO CORPORATE GANGSTERISM THEN!
