Should Arsenal consider player swap with Man United?

Manchester United are claimed to be eyeing a move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil this month, but only if they can offload Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the mean time.

The Gunners have been bracing themselves for offers for key duo Alexis Sanchez and Ozil this month, with both having entered the final six months of their contracts, and it will certainly be a long month of stress unless we see some valuable signings coming into the club.

It seems almost inevitable that we will part ways with the Chilean, who is supposedly set on a move to Manchester City, but there has been reports circling to claim that the possibility still remains that we could persuade Ozil to stay.

If no contract is agreed with the German, he will leave the club for free come the end of the season, and Manchester United are strongly linked as his potential next club, but we would most certainly prefer to see him pen a new deal.

The Red Devils are now supposedly eyeing a move to sign him now instead of waiting until the end of the term, but European expert Gabriele Marcotti claims they will need to offload a squad member before making their moving.

“Mesut Ozil, a slightly different situation (to Sanchez),” Marcotti said.

“The club say that, or Wenger anyway has said that he is pretty confident that Ozil’s going to extend his deal.

“But of course he’s been saying that for, what, the last 18 months now.

“He’s been linked again to Manchester United.

“I think United would have to shift somebody, most likely Mkhitaryan, to make that happen realistically.”

Can Arsenal afford to risk losing Ozil for free at the end of the season, or should they offer United a player-swap deal including Mkhitaryan?

  1. mkitaryan not suited to the epl.

the only united player we should go for if it came to a swap deal should be anthony martial.

    1. We dnt need nobody from bloody ManUtd.
Other day you praised mourinho and ferguson, and now you want their players.
25 likes wont save you – Top Gunner? my ass!

        1. So rude by post author…my my my …article is provocative so expect some fuzzy replies and deal with it..
          .mate

  2. No thanks. Arsenal have plenty of bench material already. Dude can’t crack man utd starting 11, we don’t need another. We already have perez on loan, cambell on loan, welbeck on bench, and iwobi squandering his chances.
Hopefully we are trying to offload theo so Reiss can get a chance on wing.
I’d definitely bit off his hand for Martial though. If there was an Ozil for Martial swap def worth the conversation

    1. He’s leaving after this season. You might doubt me but I can tell you that he’s leaving.Insiders at Arsenal have confirmed this. This is the first time they’re saying this. The infrastructure had been changed and the bringing in of Minslintat and Sanhelli are all coinciding with it.Wenger’s leaving after this season. Our main target is Ancelloti.

          1. I apologise for the past.I can confirm this for you 100%.Some of the things Wenger used to do on his own is what the likes of Minslintat and Sanhelli are taking over. He’s basically done.He won’t stay beyond this season and if for nothing just trust me on this one. What worries me is that we might not be signing anyone this window due to this. This is because Wenger does not have future plans with us anymore.I also got some news on Ozil which I didn’t like but I’ll keep to myself.

              1. Ozil currently has an offer worth £280,000 a week but is still considering other options like Juventus and Man. Utd.Ozil signing a new contract is not really 100% bang on like some people believe. His agents are exploring options.Ozil knows that the contract he’s gonna get is his last big contract so is being critical about the decision.
However,Wilshere is close to signing a new contract.

            1. You are right kev when he came out pre conference before N.Forrest and took a swipe towards Sven like “we know every player in Europe before even he joined us” was kinda of behind the scene power struggle going on and really sounds like an angry tone and an insult to our head of recruitment
if he knew every good player around Europe why he never brought in some of them? and i do not believe even for a second he was trying to buy Lemar on last hour of transfer window for 90mln was a pure lies and mind games he has been doing for long time after same player was initially available for 55mln

              1. All he knows is the French market because he commentates over there, trouble is he can’t even make them deals stick anymore

    2. Just as I was telling people some weeks ago now. You could easily see this coming, once it became obvious we were never going to finish in top four. With a resurgent Liverpool, with an ambitious and make things happen manager in Klopp and the Coutino money to spend now – plus an already five point and goal difference equating to six points, lead andonly 16 to play, it is obvious. FACTOR IN THE LIKELY EXIT OF SANCHEZ, OUR TOP SCORER OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS(WITH LACAZETTE NOT SCORING FOR AGES), AND THE USUAL INJURY CRISIS,IT WAS ALMOST INEVITABLE. Once we went out to Forest and esp in the manner, Wengers sacking is a racing certainty. Just because no forward planning has taken place for years past at Arsenal, does NOT mean it will no do so in future. New and influential peolple are in key positions now , and will soon oust Wenger. It is inevitable and watch it go really toxic when, as I fully expect, Chelsea thrash us over two legs , with our injuries being a key factor in that prediction. I welcome anything, whatever it takes to rid us of Wenger ASAP and cannot wait. While he stays all other “who is in or who is out” of players is totally irrelevant anyway.

      1. The painful thing is it’s more of him stepping down than being sacked. He’s stepping down not being sacked actually. The man is done. This is 100% true and I hope people remember this at the end of the season. The backroom changes are all in preparation for a new head coach.Wenger knows this.

        1. I have no doubt that his end will be dressed up as stepping down in an effort to save his face and Arsenals. But he will be told there is no possibility of him remaining next season. That is the sack in REALITY, not that I give a monkeys how he goes, as long as he GOES. WHICH HE WILL!

          1. What about his comment “I’ll only leave if Arteta takes over,” the sheer arrogance of that statement, and now he thinks his going to appoint our new manager after specialising in failure for 13 years. The man’s a joke

  3. JUST IN:News coming in from Arsenal is that Wenger will step down as Arsenal manager after this season.Wenger has made it clear that he’s leaving. The club have changed infrastructure just to have a new head coach. The appointment of Minslintat and Sanhelli are coinciding with the change and were planned.
People can insult and dusrespect me all they want but at the end of the season this is what’s going to happen.
    Arsenal’s main target is AncelottI.

I’ve also had ig confirmed that due to this it’s unlikely we’ll be signing any player this window though possibly 2 or 1.News coming in is that Sanchez’s actual replacement will be signed in the summer.

      1. SIX years? You actually think he will stay for two more years after this one then? Or more likely you don’t even know he is now in his 4th season. A true fan would know this .

    1. If all that is true then I’ll be delighted!

But somebody like Ancelotti won’t be up for taking orders from Wenger if he moves “Upstairs” and it’s difficult to imagine that Arsene will simply quit and make a clean break. I hope he does though.

If the club’s going to rebuild properly we can’t have him pulling the strings of a new manager, which is exactly what I would see happening with somebody like Arteta, which was rumoured on Just Arsenal recently.

As for Mkhitaryan, he seems like a decent player but I’d much rather keep Ozil.

      1. Wenger will never quit of his own accord. HE MUST AND WILL BE SACKED, very soon now. May at the very latest. YOU ONLY HAVE TO READ WHAT IS CLEARLY HAPPENING AT THE CLUB AND INTERPRETE IT CORRECTLY.

      1. I don’t use those sources.I never knew the Mirror reported this. These are sources straight from the club. What’s their use if they can’t give us secret info ahead of time?Sometimes I laugh at the players the media links us to because I know it’s not happening. You might not believe me and see me as a joker but please just trust me on this one.Wenger will leave at the and of this season. He won’t be staying past this season.Everything is being changed to accommodate a new head coach.

        1. KEV, WELL YOU AND I KNOW IT. Stupidly, some others are blind to what is now clearly going on. I HAVE ALREADY HAD A SIZEABLE BET (SOME WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS) THAT HE IS OUT COME THE SUMMER. Some just do not want to read the clear signs.

          1. Honestly speaking I didn’t know.Did they give a ”stone wall” answer that he’s leaving? What I’m saying is 100% that Wenger is leaving Arsenal at the end of this season. It will be announced at the end of the season and not before though.

            1. With 90% of fans now wanting Wenger out, it might be a good idea to announce it before the season ticket money’s due. Definitely in my case

              1. Then again I wouldn’t be surprised if they leak that his leaving, get the season ticket money in and then announce that his staying, they’ve pulled similar strokes before regarding signing new players. Don’t trust this Board as far as I could sling ’em

        2. And you think CA is the manager we need? Lol no we need a young one like Luis Enrique. Could build a team over time and undo the damage done to arsenal. And we need the yanks out coz arsenal will need to spend big over the next few seasons.

  4. Id Like Ozil to stay or leave for cash in January. Not intetested in Mktharyan. Id prefer Mahrez over Mktharyan. Hes got more PL experience innit

    1. Ozil currently has an offer of £280,000 a week on the table from Arsenal.I just don’t get why he hasn’t signed yet.The thing is he’s being very critical in his decision because he knows this is his last big contract.I won’t mind if he went as he didn’t show up for most of the time and all of a sudden he’s now playing well and wants this mammoth salary.

    1. Yes there is.We might even go for him thidsJanuary.I heard Minslintat followef him while at Dortmund. The thing is things have taken a U-turn since Wenger said he’s leaving.

      1. All in the papers.
Guardian says that Man City have offered a take it or leave it £20 mil for Sanchez this January. They reckon if Sanchez plays tomorrow he is staying and if not he is going for £20 mil.

        1. £20m??Earlier the deal was almost close to being agreed for around £32m.But with Wenger now going to step down at the end of the season we might keep him.As I said everything has taken a ”U-turn” since Wenger said he’s leaving.
