Should Arsenal go with THREE strikers against Man United?

Alexis-Giroud-Walcott: Can Wenger Forge a Killer Formation? by NO

The three names mentioned above are probably the most fearful for any defenders to face in England right now. They all belong to Arsenal and they are showing deadly precision in attacking. The other thing not mentioned here is they are powered by a rampant attacking midfielder in Mesut Ozil.

So what can Monseiur Arsene Wenger do to fully utilize the striking force above?

For me, there no two ways about it but to reconfigure the side to have a two man striking formation created. Recently, even Arsene himself alluded to this possibility. The players too are open to this possibility.
Perhaps changing systems mid-season can be de-stabling. However, there is need to consider options that can be naturally introduced with the most limited de-stabilization of the squad. Therefore, the patterns that can be deployed include 4.4.3, 4.4.2 and their variations.

In A 4.4.2 arrangement

—————–Alexis-Giroud—————-
————–Iwobi–Xhaka–Ozil————-
——————–Coquelin———————
———————Back5————————-

In the 4.3.3 arrangement

———–Alexis-Giroud-Iwobi—————-
———————Ozil—————————
—————Coquelin-Xhaka——————
———————Back5————————-

Walcott coming off the bench for now or Walcott starts with Alexis and Giroud comes in the second half.

Do you think Arsene Wenger can ensure more goals with a two striker Formation or with all three? What configuration would you prefer?

  1. We really look poor going forward when Giroud leads the line. We hardly run riot when Giroud is in the starting XI. I will stick with Iwobi-Sanchez-Walcott and bring Giroud in the second half.

  2. yea right so we go straight back to how it was for the past 4seasons, one dimensional, sluggish attack thanks to Giroud leading the line.
