Should Arsenal risk Ozil injury for FA cup?

I am reasonably sure that Arsene Wenger was hoping to be able to rest a few key Arsenal players fir the FA cup 3rd round tie against Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow, or at the very least he would have wanted to be able to give ArsenalĀ“s star man and creative genius Mesut Ozil a well deserved break.

And with our Chilean international Alexis Sanchez due back after his hamstring injury the boss would have been able to rest the German without too much concern. But now that the Chilean has had a minor (we hope) setback to his recovery, the midfield injury problems have given Wenger a big problem.

Even bringing Alexis into an unfamiliar number 10 role would have been a worry, with Ozil doing an amazing job pulling the strings for the Gunners all season. But he would have been a good option and without him, who have we got left to fill the position?

No Wilshere, Rosicky or Cazorla leaves Wenger looking at maybe Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or possibly Joel Campbell. Can we really afford to risk our FA cup progress by playing one of these instead of Ozil? Or is the more important question whether we cab afford to keep playing Ozil and risk him joining our other big names in the treatment room?

  1. No they shouldn’t.

Ozil, Cech, Bellarin, Monereal and probably Theo need to sit this one out.

For Arsenal this is just another FA cup game and probably third in terms of rankings of trophies we aim for but for Sunderland this will be like a cup final, don’t be fooled by Big Sam’s claims. They will be physical and will try to rough us up just as they did during the league game.

Not to look down on them but I think we still have enough amo to deal with them. Wouldn’t want to risk any more key players with the upcoming fixtures.

    Ospina
    Debuchy Mert Gabriel Gibbs
    Chambers Arteta
    Joel Ramsey Ox
    OG
Subs: Bellarin, Theo, Monereal, GK, Rene, Iwobi

  2. something tells me………Wenger is Looking at the current injury situation at Liverpool to assess if Sanchez should play against em or not……… Seeing as they have their key players as much as half their whole squad out with injuries! And so he may want to extend sanchez’s resting period

But, we must not see this Liverpool game as an easy walk in the park….injuries or no injuries, they are not a cheap side!

This is not an “OPPORTUNITY” for Arsenal….. Lets go to anfield for business!

  3. Misleading title! “Ozil injury”?! I came here very fast with fear to read about the severity if the injury. Do not let your words follow our Ozil. Ozil, just keep assisting us.

  4. ozil just coming back from weekly long break given to him by the boss….so he will start training tomorrow… to get ready for defender less pool

  5. if i could thumbs down articles, this one would get a thumbs down just for the title

And please don’t jinx our beloved king Ozil
