Should Arsenal sell Bellerin to Man United despite squad status?

Manchester United have supposedly opened contact with Hector Bellerin’s representatives about a potential future deal, and Arsenal are believed to be thoroughly unhappy with the reports.

The Spanish international emerged through the Gunners youth ranks in recent seasons, and has become a regular first-team member ever since.

Bellerin smashed his way into the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in his debut campaign in the senior squad, but has since begun to stall on his progression, but that has not reduced his playing time whatsoever.

Part of the problem in our squad is that we have no worthy challenger to take on his role without looking towards the younger inexperienced players, although I would quite happily  allow Ainsley Maitland-Niles to try his hand at the role, with the right-footed versatile star having impressed at left-back already this term.

Barcelona have been strongly linked with an interest in Bellerin’s signature, with the player believed to be open to a return to Spain where his family currently resides, but it is Manchester United who are now beginning to show their interest in his future.

There is a chance that Arsenal Wenger or the Arsenal squad could well find themselves being overhauled in the coming summer, with plenty of talk about change with the club struggling to mount a worthy title challenge, while also struggling to keep pace with their top-four rivals.

ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno doesn’t believe there is any chance that the 22 year-old could leave this summer however, claiming: “It all really depends on what happens with Arsene Wenger and whoever comes in.

“Is he going to clean house, whoever that coach may be?

“Even if he cleans house, I don’t think Hector Bellerin would be one of the ones that would go.

“So I believe this is a miss.”

Should Arsenal cut their losses as they are no longer getting the best from Bellerin? Would allowing him to join United be madness or good business? Could competition for his role bring him back to life?
