Should Arsenal sell Lucas Perez for just €8million?

I personally thought that Arsenal (or Emery) had decided to keep Lucas Perez for the new season, but now it would appear that we are trying to offload him to Lazio. FootballItalia are reporting today….

Arsenal reportedly tell Lazio they want a fee of €8m for the signing of forward Lucas Perez.

The Spaniard is surplus to requirements at the North London club and spent all of last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna.

He is now back with his parent club for pre-season, but his situation remains the same despite Unai Emery replacing Arsene Wenger as boss.

Lazio are in the market for a new forward as they look to bolster their squad for the coming season.

It emerged last week that the Biancocelesti had identified Perez as a key target, with sporting director Igli Tare confident the 30-year-old will be able to revive his fortunes at the Rome club.

And according to Corriere di Roma, Arsenal have now told Lazio that their asking price for the player is €8m.

That seems rather cheap even though he is now 30 years old, but to be brutally honest I thought he was rubbish when he came on against Atletico Madrid. I was hoping that he would become a good backup left-winger this season, but now I’m not so sure…

What do you think. Keep him or cash in now?

    1. No keep him as a back up. Looked good in the few opportunities he has with us. Friendly matches have never been an indicator for what happens when the season starts

        1. He’s only had ONE decent year in the whole of his career, take whatever we can get for him and run, the same goes for Campbell.

          1. Was Deportiva a one man team? His goals and assists for a team which ended up being relegated.
Arsenal needs a squad to cover playing in 4 competitions. Therefore the question is who could Arsenal buy for the €8 million if they sell Lucas Perez?
On past performance the Board would pocket the money.

  1. Feel a bit sorry for him actually as not given much of a chance by Wenger and it looks like Unai has already seen enough. Then again, maybe Unai is just making space to bring in this ‘wonder winger’ that half the people on here have been saying we need. Next couple of weeks are going to be interesting.

    1. Why didn’t you blame all the low points in his career on Wenger. Do you know he has had one good season in his entire career and was before we bought him. He did perform decently when he was here and i guess people want him to stay because they presumed he is better than some players in his position. What we don’t see is that was two years ago. The guy two years older and will be thirty this year and that worries me because of the number of soon to be thirty players we have. Why keeping a player who will not fetch us half of what we got for Giroud? He did want to leave us so badly that he caused a lot of uproar to increase his chances of making world cup squad for Spain. We all know how that turned out. If it were up to me i will sell him , sell Welbeck ( one year left ) and loan out Iwobi, get a new winger and blend in the youngsters we have in that position.

      1. So he has only had one good season and Wenger still deciced to buy him? Thats on Wenger then!

        1. No.
Wenger didn’t want him, Wenger wanted Laca, Wenger was pushing for Laca so what did Gazidis go and do… Listen to Wenger or act like he knows better (which he has never proven)?

Didn’t listen to Wenger to sign Laca that year, we had to wait 12 months where Wenger was still drooling over the thought of getting Laca and we finally did get him.

We could have afforded Laca, the fee’s spent on Welbroke and Perez would have been most of the asked fee (that year) but AFC ended up with TWO attackers that Wenger didn’t want Arsenal to sign and no funds available to buy who he did want.

Wenger has been caught on vid saying he wouldn’t have signed Welbroke perm, only on a loan deal… Which after his 1st injury hit 12 months, I doubt it would have been made perm.

The best thing Gazidis can do is hire people to do his job for him while he takes all the credit.
AFC transfers didn’t become ‘cheap’ until after he arrived, Wengers gone and look how AFC are penny pinching still!! It was time for Wenger to leave but to lay all the blame on his feet is childish and idiotic, it is like blaming Hitlers war crimes on Wenger… cause… Why not? Being blamed for everything else by the stupid!

          1. lmao, who told you complete fictional nonsense? Are you under the table when Gazidis and Wenger have meetings? Just like ITK’s you don’t know just about nothing when it comes to why we were so bad in the transfer market. Blame it on, AW, blame it on Gazidis, doesn’t really matter. Point is that it was a mess and we have a lot of low quality players that need gotten rid of.

    2. That 1 season wonder should never have been bought.
The player AFC should have signed that window is the player Wenger was pushing for, Laca.

It isn’t like a Nketiah, a young promising striker who needed game time to grow so loan moves was for development…

Perez was signed to do a job and he has failed to do that job.
Perez isn’t a kid who can develop into the player we need or want.

Perez was given time in training to prove his worth to Wenger and now to Emery, if Emery isn’t going to use him after seeing Perez in training then it is Perez own fault for not impressing and that should tell you lot everything you need to know about that 1 season wonder, HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH AND NEVER WAS!

  2. He did not get a lot of chances under Wenger’s management, but he was not impressive at Deportivo as well

He will soon be thirty years old and I doubt he could make a breakthrough in this season

Arsenal will lose a lot by selling him for a mere eight millions, but it is better than nothing and they could use the money to fund a new winger transfer

    1. The guy lack cutting edge and 1v1 ability. His best strength is his passing and to me he should be a back up at No.10 because his passes are penetrative.

  3. For 8 mil he should rather stay and run out his contract. Our team is far from being ready and we need all the help we can get. My concern is rather with the likes of Ramsey. Instead of expecting a new arrival we fans are sitting here and watching how the fella is about to play out his cards. I am well used to this with the likes of Walcott taking Arsenal for mugs, and i would love to see is Arsenal showing some guts and prove to everyone, players now and tomorrow, that the Wenger treatment is over forever. Ramsey is a player who can be replaced with at least 50 players i could name in a heartbeat. So comon Arsenal hurry up and do some more business.

    1. Sell Ramsey sell sell, but who wants him for the money he thinks he deserves?
I am sad that Wenger did not find a new job for himself cos then I would give him his golden boy Ramsey for 15 mil.

      1. Maks please stop calling him Wenger’s golden boy because Wenger has gone.

He is, b actual fact EMERY’S GOLDEN BOY….as he has already said he wants him to sign a new contract and become the captain.

Wonder what both these professional manager’s see in him, when you and others are so certain he is rubbish?

In Emery we trust, but Huss must get this sorted out.
What else is he doing to earn his fat paycheck?

        1. Hey man,
first I can call him how I want, and I would like that I am wrong but ramsey is too long at Arsenal and majority of time he is not at the level we all need.
          About Emery…
Emery is employed by Kronke. Kronke wants money. When would Arsenal sell Ramsey if Emery says what I think about him? Never.
So his praise for Ramsey is the same as Wengers praise for all the players he had sold, although he was always saying that he want them to stay. But when the offer came, he sold them all.
Problem here is that there are no offers for Ramsey at all. None!
When he is so good like some arsenal young fans feels (not think) where are PSG, Barca or Real?
In reality we can ask question: where are Everton, Inter Milan or Espanyol ?
Ramsey manager acts like Ramsey is made out of gold, cos his football skils and his football mind are not very shiny.

  4. Being stingy has cost arsenal way more money than spending on the right player.

All these average players we bought and kept who barely contributed over the years and then were sold for peanuts. The amount of trophies we missed out on, the amount of players we missed out on, Gazidis n co are fools.

    1. and we’ve hardly sold anybody this window. The deadwood is piling up. Decisions need to be made.

  5. The fact that we are trying to sell players can only mean one thing. We will be signing a player or possibly two players.Im not guessing, this is what is going to happen.

    1. The transfer is two weeks from closure. If we are to conduct any business on transfer then it should be sooner than later.

  6. Sell him and bring Bailley or Dembele. He is not good enough and should not be the reason why we dont invest in a world class winger. Honestly, enough with the small club mentality folks. Do you think Real Madrid will stop chasing Eden Hazard because they have Lucas Vacquez?

  7. Pop!.. Pop!.. Pop!..Pop!…… Pop your drinks!… Pop your drinks!… Pop your drinks!…Dembele is coming!!….Dembele is coming!!!… Dembele is coming!!!!……pop!…pop!..pop!….. Premier league be ready!!!…………my sources tell me it has been sealed….the details of the deal to come soon..both clubs are keeping it secret as for now……I’m so happy!!

  8. I see dembele becoming the next thirty Henry for our club… Just the way Henry was bought from Juventus, after Juventus felt he can’t make it in their club.. Henry came to arsenal to become a legend of not just arsenal but the game of football….i see Dembele taking similar paths…but unlike Henry who was denied the award of the ballon dor…..Dembele will never be denied..I’m sure of that.. . Welcome Dembele!!!

    1. alot of quality wingers on the move this year with pulisic, hazard, and bailey top of the list, you also got lozano, brandt, and perisic WC will also help him make a move. martial and dybala are also two players capable of playing on the wings.

So Dembele is a possibility with all these quality wingers on the market we never know, but it won’t happen untill some of these big clubs start spending!!
so doubt anything has been finalized chiza… but hey it’s nice to take a shot in the dark in the hoping you are correct. i also hope your imaginary signing has happened because he would be class, and fast oh so very fast!! liverpool on the counter or pressing you make me laugh we get dembele and we’ve got the deadliest attacking force in the league!

we are doing so well, and have to say im very impressed with rowe and our new signing guendouzi. both players i haven’t seen much of but from what i’ve been watching happy days. A solid pre-season and top 4 should be in the bag.

about perez to stay on topic sell him for what you can get, 9 mil is better than nothing!!

      1. If we are going to get a winger then best if it is Dembele as his great friend Auba would help him to settle in. Sometimes called the ‘Dynamic Duo’ at Dortmund and am pretty sure they could do the same for us. Just a bit annoying that it may be Mikki, another ex-Dortmund player, who has to make way.
On the other hand if Ramsey were to be sold then no problem! Move Mikki to Ramsey’s position, stick Dembele on the wing and job done! Look out EPL defences!

  9. Chiza, please stop playing with our heads… I am not saying we can’t buy him but the deal aint done yet

  10. No! Definitely not!!
We are in need of capable hands (or should I say legs) out wide… damn!

  11. I love this song: Arsenal won the FA cup, FA cup screw u Chelsea!!!! Being singing now for days.

  12. Sell him along with Ospina.Jenkinson,A kpom ,Mustafi,C ampbell, Xhaka and Kolasinac.Time to clear the decks for the difficult challenges ahead in the Premier League. In my view the Arsenal squad is strong in midfield and up front but sadly we lack real quality at centre back and left back..Too late to sort out these weaknesses in this transfer window but no doubt Emery will do so next time round.I hope Monreal is fit to start the league campaign.Mustafi and Kolasinac together against the Man City attacking players fills me with dread.

  13. You mean we might get rid of that 1 season wonder and hopefully replace him with a real footballer?

Thought we would have to pay someone £8million to get rid of him, if someone is willing to pay us £8million then snatch their arm off!

When we signed him I tried to get behind our new player and tried to find positives but I couldn’t.
He wasn’t cheap in comparison to what he had achieved.
    He wasn’t a goalscorer, he wasn’t a dribbler, he wasn’t a passer… What was he?

Fingers crossed we either use that money towards a real quality player or give a kid opportunity to grow into the 1st team, I’d take Nelson as he is now or Nketiah as he is now over a fully fit and inform Perez.

  14. If we aren’t getting another winger then no. Should’ve jumped at the chance of selling Iwobi for 20mill+. I doubt we will ever get the chance to sell for more. Arsenal are poor at selling players. Even with Ospina on the last year of his contract we are selling Colombia’s No1. for just 2 MILL. That is horrendous. Liverpool are selling one of their youth players that nobody has ever heard of for twice that amount. Also, Why people still believing this Dembele stuff though?

  15. Arsenal needs to trust it’s youth system..players like Mbappe, Martial,Lemar, dembele, Malcolm and coman are the stars they are coz the French league has a way of bringing the best out of their academies. Give Rowe and Nelson a chance to impress on the wings..

  16. The Sun claim the Gunners could be forced to let Ramsey leave for the Nou Camp to secure the signing of Dembele.

  17. I love Perez but i need to let go. He was impressive the few times he has come on but as others have said, he is just about 30, he should already be at his peak. Would i rather have Perez over Willian, Bailey, Alexis, Rashford(he should really consider move), Martial, Pedro, ZAHA. Answer is a solid no. Yes a lot of players sometimes gave us heart (Elneny, Welbeck, Ramsey, Wilshere, Kolasinac,Iwobi) but in all honesty, should never have been given/beatowed the priviledge of an Arsenal jersey. We may not even finish top 4 this season(probably will but trying not to get ahead of myself), but what Mislat, Unai and team have started is big. I would take the £30mil from Chelsea for Ramsey, £12-20mil for Iwobi, £8mil for Perez, because clearing them also clears part of the old culture and low quality. Some of them regressed because not much was expected from them. And some will go on to be top players at their next clubs. It just cant be Arsenal. There is a reason why Chelsea want Ramsey( Drinkwater is moving), they want BACK UP. And we wanna build around him. Let him go. Unless we are buying, i would keep Perez and Welbeck to use only as super subs, nothing more. Not even a Europa start. Otherwise, once someone gets in touch, SELL…….

  18. Perez should be sold , and ppl should stop blaming Wenger for his under performance how long are we going to be linking all issue to asene. Well, Ramsey is one of our best players, he has his bad side though, so also other players, he shouldn’t be sold but if he refuses to sign new deal den sell him

  19. Some fans dont give a $h!t about our Club’s finances. Happy to sell too cheap and expect to buy @ high price.

I want us to spend big on the right players but dont forget that Arsenal is a business. We need to sell at the right prices to fund big players. Kroenke is no Abramovich
