Should Arsenal sell Ramsey abroad now – or wait for Chelsea or Man Utd in January?

The Aaron Ramsey saga just seems to rumble on with all signs pointing to Arsenal resigning themselves to letting the Welshman run down his contract for the next 11 months, after reports say that there is still no progress on a new deal.

The Express reports today…..

ARSENAL have reportedly failed to make any progress with a potential new contract for Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey’s current deal expires next summer with the Gunners keen to tie the Welsh midfielder to the club.

As it stands, Ramsey can talk to other clubs in January with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea believed to be keen on the 27-year-old.

It’s been claimed that Ramsey is after a significant increase on his current £110,000 per week package at the Emirates.

They state above that Ramsey can talk to other clubs in January, but he can NOT talk to Man United or Chelsea until the end of the season according to Premier League rules, but he can talk to foreign clubs. It is Chelsea and United that are the clubs most rumoured to be interested, and Liverpool have also been mentioned a few times. They are certainly the three EPL clubs that are most likely to pay astronomical wages…

But let’s be honest here for a moment. They may have the cash, but who would Mourinho or Klopp or Sarri, or anyone for that matter, think that Ramsey would be worth as much as another world class midfielder? And then again, who would Liverpool, Chelsea or Man United drop because they think Ramsey is a better player? These rumours make very little sense to me.

I think if we can get anyone to pay big money to take him off our hands then we should grab the cash and say ‘Good Luck!’ Then we will see if he could becoe a regular at any other top team shall we?

  1. a player who is not fully committed to the club should be sold. it seems that players that are in their last year of contract are all the same. again is he really worth a lot of money? i wonder. one good game and three with him or without him its the same. sell pls. gooner = for ever

    1. I concur,He should be SOLD.His performance so far shows that he is NOT fully committed which is positive for Arsenal.

  2. Premier leagues experienced as has shown class in the past for both Arsenal and the Welsh team, we do always rate his hard work (did more in 20 minutes than Ozil manager in 70 against chelski) and can be frustrating to watch but can see all the above teams taking him, maybe not as a starter.

I can imagine he will push on when faced with a new challange.

Casshin in abroad would be a better option than letting him leave for nothing, assuming he won’t sign.

  3. The problem is there is no real interest in him from the other clubs, like Ozil’s case last season

I hope they don’t repeat the mistake they made with Ozil and I’d prefer if they release him at the end of this season, if there is no offer

If there is a very low offer now, Arsenal should take it, because that would be better than no profit at all

  4. I was talking to one of my friends who is an insider and very close to some of the dealings of the arsenal first team…..he told me that Emery already knows his first eleven but purposely didn’t play his key players in his first two games because of the difficulty of the matches and the quality of the team but wants to start jelling his first team with the easier games coming up so they can easily gather confidence and learn his tactics easily without any pressure….so he can face his next big match well prepared….he took this decision after seeing the fixture list.. It was all a plan…and I guess it is a smart move to me…..so let’s expect to see torriera, lichstenier, leno and lacazette all start together in the upcoming games

    1. chiza, you are one gas man , you will never give up , will you ?. i would have thought you would have retired after your disastrous recent predictions. but here you are again , telling tall tales, why do you do that ?. do you honestly people on here are going to believe another word that you type. you have been so far off the mark with all or most of your “predictions”. i will give you one thing however, you must have one hard neck .and, you do tell a great story old bean, i am beginning to think your stories are actually entertaining .

  5. I expect emery to drop underperformers… I want to see a formation like this very soon

    Leno

    Lichstenier Sokratis Mavrapanos Monreal

    Torriera
    Mikhitaryan Guendouzi

    Welbeck Lacazette Aubameyang

    1. Would actually be happy with that line up for the majority of this season – can then use the next two transfer windows to add a winger, a more creative midfielder, a centre back and a right back.

  6. It is clear now that Ramsey does not have his heart in Arsena;l. There can be no doubt. Therefore he must not start games and be used only when it suits the club , not him. And must be sold if poss in Jan and if not let go on a free next summer. Emery can not be held responsible for the stupidity of WENGER IN LETTING HIS CONTRACT RUN DOWN.

      1. Young man , learn that THE TRUTH WHY WE ARE SO WOEFUL IN DEFENCE IS BECAUSE Wenger spent years neglecting defence and bought alload of sub standard players. If you deny that truth you are fooling yourself. And YES Wenge tru;ly IS the reason we are in such a defnsove mess now. IF HE HAD HAD THE SLIGHTEST INTEREST IN GETTING A PROPER DEFENCE, TENS OF THOUSANDS OF SEASON TICKET HOLDERS WOULD NOT HAVE STAYED AWAY IN DISGUST AND BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO FORCE HIM OUT. IN A FAN POLL , 88% WANTED HIM OUT. Are they all “old men”, you very silly and self delusional young man?

      2. You want to learn some respect Councel. Jon fox has more knowledge of Arsenal in his little finger than you have in your whole body.

        1. As for Aaron Ramsey, sell him as soon as possible because he’s definitely looking to move on a free. Six months time he’ll be negotiating with another club and six months after that he’ll join them for nothing. He’s not worth keeping anyway especially on crazy wages.

          1. Kenny, I’m still trying to identify the players Man United, Chelsea or Liverpool would bench to allow Aaron Ramsey to start. If he leaves on a free (and I hope he is sold ASAP), it will be interesting to see who would sign him. At the moment it appears he has an over inflated opinion of his own ability and does not realize how lucky he has been to play for the Arsenal.

    1. do u have any other problem apart from wenger? Till u achieved what wenger has achieved in his chosen career, u will surely remain a failure

  7. He’ll come back and destroy us once he’in the red or blue of other clubs. One the he strives to do for us when we’re playing them. Sell to either Juventes or the Milan clubs. Asap too. He’s just keeping better players from playing and accelling

  8. Arsenal should have sold Aaron Ramsey at the beginning of the transfer window as it was clear he wanted to repeat the same problem of Sanchez and Ozil and leave Arsenal free at the end of his contract in the summer. Now his price has plunged . No, player is bigger than the club . Thanks to the reckless Of Arsene wenger who let more than ten of Arsenal players to reach the last year of their contracts.

  9. I can’t see Liverpool paying him astronomical wages, but yes Chelsea & United would.
I can’t believe how long this is dragging on….tbh I’m not that fussed if he stays or goes…. I was thinking why would we sell to a rival… but hopefully we could con them out of some cash

  10. The avatars are really horrendous animations. Have a look at mine. What is that? I cant even think of a letter in which its name starts with. Anyway, how do i set a picture of my own?

    1. With all respect illiterate, sell him to United or Chelsea, he’s not good enough to come back and hurt us. Just get some money for him. Would be like selling Sanogo to a rival.

  11. Sell him – he’s taking the Mickey. Also, bench him or don’t even pick him for matchday squad.

  12. Sell him now and sign Marchisio who juventus just let go on a free to replace him until next summer

    1. The problem is that the players have all the power. If they are not happy with a move they will just stay put.Ramsey will just see his contract out and then go to the highest bidder. We need to start using the young talent the club have and get rid of players who are simply here for the cash

        1. Highbury44 I agree that players can just stay put but the obvious answer if he refuses a move is to put him in the reserves – where I think he belongs anyway!
10 months in the reserves and then who would want to sign him come July?

      1. The young ones will still grow and get swayed by the cash factor and the cycle continues.
Truth is, a large number of players don’t play for the badge anymore, they play for the pay cheque.

    2. Can we still get him with epl transfer window already closed

      We really need him

January transfer window we go for bailey, pavon, sander and gbamin

      These are realistic targets

While elneny, ozil, mustafi, xhaka can helps by leaving the club

  13. Sell him yes, but not to another PL side. That would be suicidal.
Aother comment. !If Ramsey refuses to sign a new contract we should play “hardball”.
He should not be allowed to play for the Arsenal again.
Like to add one more thing. The Clubs accountant needs to get his/ her act together. No more contactural Cock-ups. Like delivering transfer papers to late.

    1. I couldn’t care less if Ramsey plays for another EPL team against us. In fact I hope W. Ham want him in January to join the other 3 ex-Arsenal players there. Maybe if we pay them enough . . .

  14. Let Arsenal give him £150k/w wages for a 3 year deal to extend if Arsenal can afford that amount of wages on their wage bill as the club’s wage bill is reported to be on the high side. But if they can’t afford it, let them offload him abroad now if they can get a good price for him from the club that want to sign him. But not wait for Chelsea and Man Utd or any PL club to bid for him as that will be amount to a gamble that may or not payoff. Arsenal may even sell him to a Chinese Super League club side if they receive a good offer from any.

Since Ramsey has appeared to be high wage earning driven before he’ll extend at Arsenal, a lucrative wage offer from aboard to have him append his signature could tempt him to go to abroad if he receives a lucrative offer from a club there which should make him go there to continue plying his trade there.

  15. I doubt anyone will pay big money for him. But there are several reasons to sell:

    1) We have plenty of midfielders, maybe too many, and we can do without Ramsey

    2) We may get some money for him, which can be used for other positions

    3) If he stays, he will only stay with a big salary, and he isn’t worth a big salary

    4) No Arsenal players should in the future be allowed to run down contracts in order to score a sig on fee when they are is out of contract

  16. ”Wenger neglected defense and bought a load of substandard players ” So according to you Sokratis is not substandard!he was part of poor Dortmund defense last season.Man city spend over 200M to fix their defense they had the likes of of mangala who were expensive but flopped ,but Wenger with a shoe string budget was responsible for neglecting defense! The 88% of the so called Wenger out brigade were a bunch of knee jerkers let them now respond to the rival fans who are chanting same old same old arsenal! The last time I checked the table we were on the red zone

      1. ka-gunner, Counsel needs to wait until when/if Arsene Wenger goes to manage another club somewhere and follow that club. Last time I checked this site is called “justarsenal”, not “justarsene”.

    1. After two games I would say Sokratis is a huge improvement on Mustafi. After just one hour against Citeh I would say Lichstiener is a huge improvement on Bellerin.Mavaropolous was not a Wenger signing and from what little we saw of him last season he could well be the best we have had for some time.
NOTE-Not a single one was a single signing.Sort of says it all I reckon

  17. He offers nothing to the team besides running up front. He is not even dangerous in doing so. He needs to be sold as we have already a replacement with funny hair who is already making his mark in the team. How could Emery event think about him being a player we could build our team around? Jesus Christ pretty sure that he said that only for Ramsey to sign his contract.

I hope the boss is ruthless and tells Ramsey to sign the thing or see the door. The same as he did with Wilshere who i am upset in him being not around anymore as i think that he would be more useful to us than the likes of Xhaka, Ozil are now.

    1. And I would also add that both Bellerin and Mustafi have seemed to applied themselves quite well in both games so far.Defensively we seem to have a more cohesive structure about us that will not be exposed nearly as much after those first two games.I wonder if the players are receiving a bit of coaching here and there.

      1. Under performers wont be able to escape responsibility any more. The new boss is not a father figure as Wenger was before. Deliver or see the bench thats how it works now.

      2. Coaching ? In an Arsenal defence? Theres a novely we have not seen in the past decade, til Emery came.

    2. Hi Ks-gunner,I have just read your post, and would like to say that your use of the Saviour ‘s name is most offensive. Jesus Christ so loved the human race that he willingly suffered a cruel death so you and all mankind might have Eternal Life in Heaven when we die.I would respectfully ask you to consider not using His Name as a swear word in future posts.Thank you. Please remember God loves you.

      1. It is not to me, and i dont have any love for any god, but i will make sure not to use his name for your sake anymore. So rest easy and take care.

        1. I appreciate your apology, so I hope gooner4life does too. We must be careful to consider and be sensitive to people’s religious beliefs whatever they may be.

        2. Ks Gooner
Thanks for your apology i realise it takes courage to say sorry so i accept it and willlook forward to future comments. I would remind you again even though you claim to have no love for God God has great love for you.I hope you will soon realise that.
          God Bless you.

  18. Sell on now, especially as Guendouzi is better at following directions at least.

The problem for Arsenal was the ‘rotten’ core of British players. (Some may recall this point I made last year.) He finally realized it, and began to clean house. Jack was to be signed and sold, and ditto for Ramsay.

Wenger’s attempt to try out a British core failed miserably, as Brits cannot play well and long at the highest level. Why? Good question. I can hazard a guess, the English game at the lower level is not about silken skills, but about toughness that destroyed creativity. So, some improvements have been made, with some academy’s starting younger. Some positive results are coming…

If Ramsay goes, we have another generation of British player rising, as Wenger picked them younger and tried to influence them. We do not know how good they are yet.

Selling Ramsay would remove the last of an experiment by Wenger.

  19. I don’t think Ramsey is going anywhere, well, not until he walks out of Arsenal on a free next year, and get’s a nice fat signing on fee, and an inflated salary with a new club. The worst thing is, we can’t do a thing about it.

  20. Too many fans in here get swayed by the fans who anger easily and talk complete trash about players. Ramsey is a popular enough player (within our base and within the game) and is classed as one of Arsenal’s better ones or at least he had been over the last five seasons. When Ramsey puts in his full throttle and pops up with some winners, it will make fans happy at that time. Soon as the s**t slingers start talking the fans in here will say nothing before eventually being totally swayed by them. I’ve seen enough to know its true, seen the comments section during games but some will make it a point to sound stubborn then it (language) will get worse before others aren’t bothering arguing against that type of person. Might just be that there’s allot of kids on the site but I believe its just people who try to avoid any and all agro within their lives.

    1. He might be yours but he’s not been one of my favourite players over the last five years. I’ve wanted out since his one decent season which is so long ago I can’t even remember.
