Signing this Premier League ace would be a fantastic coup for Arsenal

Arsenal are lining up a move for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, according to the British Media.

The thinking behind the move is two-fold, one we sign a top class talent that will strengthen our squad significantly and secondly, boost our homegrown talent numbers at the club as per FIFA requirements.

Zaha is still considered eligible under the homegrown talent rules despite declaring for the Ivory Coast.

It has already been reported that Zaha wants to leave Palace and a fee in the region of £40 Million is being touted by the press.

It is true we do need to boost our homegrown talent numerically, Aaron Ramsey is leaving and that gap needs to be plugged in terms of numbers and even though we have a few British youngsters coming through there is no guarantee they will be given squad numbers next season.

Obviously, £40 Million is at the top end of our transfer budget but that is only if we fail to make next seasons Champions League. If we do and sell players we could easily double that figure which would make signing Zaha well within our reach.

As well as the Palace man we are also still said to be tracking Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser and I would suggest that it is very likely that we will be signing at least one decent British player in the summer.

Signing Zaha would be a coup, he is very tasty and has been one of the best players for Palace this season, he ran our defenders ragged last month and the fact that he wants to leave the Eagles is enough reason for me to be optimistic that we have a great chance of signing him in the summer.

And everyone knows we need a top class winger urgently!

  1. Why would he sign for us after getting all the abuse from our fans and threats on social media.

    1. Because Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in England, a true elite Premier League club, willing to pay high salary and we might play in Champions League next season

      1. It’s funny to think that anyone would believe we would have the funds to buy Zaha.

Sure, he is the type of player we desperately need if we want to move up the PL table, but he is not the type of player we can afford. And I doubt he would go for 40 miilion (our entire budget). He would more likely go for 60+

  2. Even though I like Zaha’s tricks, signing Fraser is more likely because Fraser has only one year left on his contract. Whereas Zaha is tied to Palace until 2023

I believe we could see Fraser at Arsenal next season, because:

    – Fraser’s price tag is within Arsenal’s budget
    – He made a lot of assists in this season
    – He is a right-footed LW
    – He occasionally played as an RB, therefore he is pretty versatile

    1. I agree that Fraser looks like a much better buy than Zaha. Fraser also seem to have a wicked crossing game which we need.

And for the estimated price tag he has, I am not sure we can find someone better.

He is also coming into his prime years which is a good thing.

      1. I’d also prefer Fraser. More within our budget, a really hard worker, and no ego from what I can tell. I would imagine Zaha would cost more than £40 million, and he isn’t worth that.

        1. why can’t we get both.. zaha and Fraser for a combined 60-70 mil..It is possible from funds gotten from players sales and wage drop… we are Arsenal for crying out loud, we should do more.

      2. I saw a tweet earlier saying Fraser has assisted more this season (14) than Ozil/Mkhi/Iwobi combined (11)… he’s 25 & he’s on 30k a week at Bournemouth!! Make it happen!
I do really like Zaha too though!

    2. Zaha is a one-dimensional player and his price tag will 70 million pounds for what football?? another Lukaku? if Fraser is capable of filling in at RB I would take him any day

  3. Wot level.of player we manage to sign in the summer will depend on whether we get champions league.. I for one am not counting our tight a$$ yank owner to splash the cash.. put it this way for some reason we seem to be the only club in England that has somehow “leaked” or depending what u read the club announced our transfer budget to be between 40-50mil?? I don’t no the exact amount u get for qualifying for CL and the money gained from winning Europa (if we do of course win it) what if the budget is say 45mil with the extra money from the above and t.v rights plus new sponsorship starting next season we maybe looking at wot 100mil transfer kitty plus player sales.. does that seem fair? If there was ever a summer for kronke to show some balls and put some of his money into player transfers.. I mean he plucked out 200odd mil to buy out usamov but cant stick an extra 100mil into transfers for once in his 10odd year involvement with the club.. show some love for the badge and give back to the fans and show us why we pay the highest tickets around yet we are so limp in transfer windows.. let’s just hope we don’t get another summer of getting linked with every player u can think of.. then the dithering starts.. penny pinching tactics that are so outdated.. we lose out of better targets and always prefer a cheap alternative.. it will be another window of failed promises and lack of balls..

Trust me either way if we win Europa and or finish top 4.. or we finish 5th and lose europa final then wot will the club do? We need investment regardless.. if we don’t spend everyone else will and we will b fighting for 7th and 8th.. it has to be this window to make a statement..

If I held the purse strings it would be

    Umtiti or de ligh
    Chilwell or wan biska
    Tielemans or ndidi
    Pepe or dembele

Four signings.. would transform our team but ur looking at 200odd mil.. would kronke and his bunch of yes men fork out that sort of money??

I wait till the summer to find out

  4. The time has come for us to be linked to all football players on planet earth but at the end it will still be the same old story

  5. Zaha said he wants to leave for Champions League football so it’s a little early to speculate but I would prefer Fraser, he’s younger, crosses better and works harder.

  6. We should get both.
    caps for 1st choice.

    LW – FRASER ,iwobi
    RW – ZAHA, nelson

    CM- RABIOT ,xhaka, guedouzi
    DM- TORREIRA , ndidi

    LCB- KOULIBALY, holding

5 new signings and we challenging for the title.
    In order of priority
    – koulibaly,zaha,fraser,ndidi,rabiot.

  7. If I remember properly, zaha would sign for us only if Walcott was leaving, sadly sign da thing stayed, the guy after a good season took blackmailed us y he club who gave him his debut, became an e nglish international, now everton are stuck with the guy who wanted to emulate thierry henry what a joke!!!
