Signing this Premier League ace would be a fantastic coup for Arsenal

Arsenal are lining up a move for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, according to the British Media.

The thinking behind the move is two-fold, one we sign a top class talent that will strengthen our squad significantly and secondly, boost our homegrown talent numbers at the club as per FIFA requirements.

Zaha is still considered eligible under the homegrown talent rules despite declaring for the Ivory Coast.

It has already been reported that Zaha wants to leave Palace and a fee in the region of £40 Million is being touted by the press.

It is true we do need to boost our homegrown talent numerically, Aaron Ramsey is leaving and that gap needs to be plugged in terms of numbers and even though we have a few British youngsters coming through there is no guarantee they will be given squad numbers next season.

Obviously, £40 Million is at the top end of our transfer budget but that is only if we fail to make next seasons Champions League. If we do and sell players we could easily double that figure which would make signing Zaha well within our reach.

As well as the Palace man we are also still said to be tracking Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser and I would suggest that it is very likely that we will be signing at least one decent British player in the summer.

Signing Zaha would be a coup, he is very tasty and has been one of the best players for Palace this season, he ran our defenders ragged last month and the fact that he wants to leave the Eagles is enough reason for me to be optimistic that we have a great chance of signing him in the summer.

And everyone knows we need a top class winger urgently!
