Arsenal has been closely monitoring Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadıoğlu for the past few months and is now reportedly considering adding him to their squad.

The versatile 24-year-old player has demonstrated his ability to play in both midfield and defence, delivering impressive performances for his current club in recent months.

Arsenal has been impressed by Kadıoğlu’s playing style, and manager Mikel Arteta appears eager to work with him.

With Arsenal currently sitting atop the Premier League standings and in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, they are expected to have a busy summer ahead, aiming to re-establish themselves as the top side in England.

As part of their recruitment plans, Arsenal has identified Kadıoğlu as a potential target. TRT Spor reports that Arsenal’s interest in the player is genuine, naming them as one of the clubs expected to make a bid for his signature in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Just Arsenal Opinion

We must continue to sign the best players on offer, and Ferdi Kadıoğlu has looked decent on the books of Fener.

He has other suitors, but our progress in the last two terms will make it easier for him to pick us as his next club.

Galatasaray remains keen on signing Arsenal’s Jorginho and is intensifying their interest in the midfielder.

Jorginho has been enjoying a successful season with Arsenal and has emerged as one of their most influential players since the beginning of the year.

Although Arsenal has the option to extend his contract for another season, they have not rushed to make a decision, prompting other clubs to express interest in acquiring his services.

While it was previously expected that Jorginho would return to Italy in the summer, with Juventus showing serious interest, there is now a possibility that he could join several former Premier League players in the Turkish league.

According to a report on Sport Witness, Galatasaray has emerged as the most likely destination for the midfielder, with the Turkish side showing significant determination to secure his signature in recent weeks.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Judging by his form in 2024, Jorginho is a player we should keep for one more season.

However, we do not know what the club’s plan is and have to trust the leaders to make the right decisions for us.

Five Arsenal players are set to be offloaded from the club at the end of this season as the Gunners continue their rebuilding process.

Mikel Arteta has developed the team to a point where they can consistently challenge for the league title, and he aims to continue strengthening the squad by signing top players.

As a result, some players who have not been receiving enough game time are expected to depart the club.

The Sun has now identified five players who may be entering their final season at the Emirates.

The report suggests that Aaron Ramsdale, Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, and Eddie Nketiah are all available for transfers.

If Arsenal receive good offers for these players in the summer, they will likely be offloaded by the club.

Just Arsenal Opinion

We are now a much better team than a year ago, and this progress will cost some players their space in the team.

We are emotionally attached to some of them, but letting them go might be the best decision for them and the club.

If we sell some of the named players, we expect to bag some new men to join the group as their replacement at the end of the term and return for next season with a much stronger group.

Joao Cancelo has made headlines following a revealing interview where he directed criticism towards his parent club, Manchester City.

The defender has spent the past year on loan from City, initially at Bayern Munich for the second half of last season before joining Barcelona this term.

Before he departed from City, Arsenal expressed interest in signing him, but numerous reports indicated that the defending champions were reluctant to sell another key player to the Gunners.

Cancelo is aiming to extend his stay at Barcelona beyond this season but is reportedly frustrated with his treatment at City.

If Barcelona is unable to secure his permanent signing, Arsenal may have an opportunity to acquire Cancelo for their squad.

According to reports from The Sun, Arsenal still holds an interest in the Portuguese defender, and Mikel Arteta is keen to collaborate with him at the Emirates.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Cancelo is a fine player and he has a lot of experience of winning trophies, which would be useful to us.

For now, he seems to favour staying at Barcelona, and we can only sign him if the Catalans cannot keep him at Camp Nou permanently.

Manchester City has received a boost ahead of their upcoming match against Arsenal this weekend, as Kyle Walker appears poised to return from injury.

The defender sustained an injury during England’s match against Brazil, causing concern for City, as Walker is a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side.

In the midst of a challenging title race with Arsenal and Liverpool, City understands the importance of maintaining their best form in every fixture.

With the desire to secure a victory against Arsenal at home, City’s plans were initially disrupted by Walker’s injury, potentially leaving a gap in their right-back position.

However, Sky Sports has now provided positive news for City fans, reporting that Walker’s injury is not as severe as initially feared, and he could be available for selection when City faces Arsenal.

The defending champions will undoubtedly be delighted by this development, as Walker is recognised as one of their most important players.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Walker is a key player for City and will hand us problems down the right, so if he does not play, it would be great.

However, we have to prepare to face the best City team we can face because anyone who steps on the field for the match against the Gunners will be in top shape.

Sporting CP has a history of nurturing top talents, from Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo to several other world-class players, making them a club to watch for emerging stars.

Their current squad is competing for the Portuguese league title, propelled in part by the talent within their ranks.

Arsenal has taken notice of several Sporting players, particularly two defenders who have caught their eye.

Gonçalo Inácio and Ousmane Diomande form the backbone of Sporting’s defence, contributing to their success both domestically and in Europe.

This explains Arsenal’s interest in acquiring both players for their squad.

According to reports from Sport Witness, Arsenal faces competition from Newcastle United for the signatures of these two promising defenders. Newcastle is reportedly eager to bolster their squad with talented players and is confident in their ability to secure deals for Inácio and Diomande once the season concludes.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Newcastle has proven to be one of the top spenders in recent transfer windows, so we need to be careful about them if we find both players interesting enough to sign.

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has committed to convincing Ben White to play for England again.

White has not been involved with the national team since he controversially left their camp at the World Cup.

He has been in fantastic form for Arsenal as they chase the Premier League and Champions League titles.

England wants to win Euro 2024 and needs the best talents in the country in their squad to achieve this.

But White has informed them that he has no interest in returning to the team for now, a position which the national team handlers find saddening.

However, Rice has now committed to speaking with his club teammate and trying his best to convince him to return.

He said, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

‘When I get back I can have a conversation with him and see the ins and outs and see what he thinks.

‘I would love him to come. I think Bukayo (Saka) would. I think Aaron Ramsdale would. I think we’re all going to be on him when we get back to say… hopefully, he can change his mind but I don’t know the ins and outs of that conversation.’

Just Arsenal Opinion

White knows why he made that decision, and it could be difficult for him to change his mind, but that does not mean Rice should not try his best to get his teammate back to international football.

William Saliba has been one of the best defenders in Europe when club performance alone is counted.

The Frenchman has been in superb form for Premier League table-topping Arsenal over the last two seasons, yet he does not get enough chances with the France senior national team.

He first came to widespread attention during his successful loan stint at Olympique Marseille and has been a starting defender in two successive title-chasing seasons for Arsenal.

This should ideally be enough to make him a regular starter for Les Bleus, but that has not been the case.

Most people will think that this is expected because France has a large pool of fine centre-backs, but his manager has revealed that he does not perform well for the national team.

Speaking about Saliba’s struggles, Didier Deschamps said, as quoted by The Sun:

“He is having a good season, but he also does things that I don’t like so much.

“For France, he has limited game time, but when he plays, that hasn’t necessarily gone well. The hierarchy doesn’t favour him at the moment, but he is here.

“Upamecano has had game time and perhaps William has had less.

“With certain players, I make sure to persevere, because it can be confidence or little blockages that can shift. Some don’t have any concerns, some need game time.

“William has had less game time, so that doesn’t allow him to be very calm.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Saliba’s struggle for France is a surprise because he is one of the highest-rated defenders in European football.

We expect so much more from him when he is with his country, but his lack of action there could be a good thing for us.

Ashley Cole has become the 7th former Gunner to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. No club has more representation than Arsenal. That number could grow with Fabregas and Sol Campbell on the shortlist to be inducted next.

It was classy of the club to acknowledge Cole’s accolade on their official website, given the nature of his transfer to Chelsea and not always an attempt from the player to fix a frosty relationship with Gooners.

Yet, taking any emotion out of your opinion, Cole is the best left back to have played in the Prem and at his peak perhaps the best in the world.

Arsenal Wenger said of Ashley’s Award: “He has spent a lot of time in the Premier League and always with success, so overall he has his just rewards.

“He’s honestly one of the few players who I always say that moved on and continued to develop, and that shows remarkable intelligence and remarkable consistency in the effort. It’s always difficult to make a hierarchy, but he’s certainly the best left-back.”

If many of our fans are honest, they hate him because they loved him.

Cole was one of our own, a rare youngster at the time trusted to progress from the Academy.

Having been part of our set up since a teenager Cole really should have been a future Arsenal captain, the face of the team as we transitioned from Highbury to the Emirates.

While the 43-year-old could have worded things better, with many struggling to relate to nearly crashing your car because your employer is ‘only’ offering you 55,000 pound a week, Cole felt it was an indication of him not being appreciated. He’s often talked about walking round the pitch saying farewell to Highbury with Thierry Henry and resenting the strikers name being chanted, on and off the pitch the priority being that the Frenchman stayed not the defender.

Cole would be proven correct. Accepting 5 million and Gallas from our London rivals was the first piece of evidence that the priority was now raising funds to pay off stadium debt.

While Arsenal haven’t won the title since Cole left, he lifted every domestic honour available at Stamford Bridge.

Working under Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti, naturally he improved defensively but it remains North London where he was the most exciting to watch.

Due to his success across the Capital coinciding with our trophy drought it often gets overlooked he was successful with us as well.

He won two League Championships and Three FA Cups under Arsene Wenger, his understanding with Pires and Henry contributing to our most successful period in our history.

For someone who’s done it all at club level, got more FA Cup medals than anyone else, has represented his nation at 5 major tournaments and is the most capped English full back, Cole doesn’t get celebrated enough.

That might be because of choices he made in his personal life, but on the pitch, Cole was perhaps the one member of the Three Lions ‘Golden Generation’ to consistently perform at his level on the international stage.

Other young coaches would also have had more credit for being assistant coach under Lee Carsley to the England Under 21’s becoming Euros Champions last year.

Cole is getting his flowers this week though by being named the 22nd inductee into the PL Hall Of Fame. In terms of his position, he deserves his own wing.

Once a Gooner always a Gooner

Congrats

Dan

Our Arsenal Women defeated Aston Villa 3-1, as expected, to bounce back from the London derby loss to Chelsea. I’m sure some Arsenal fans who watched that game and saw the score being 1-0 at halftime, Villa with the advantage, were already convinced it was another disappointing matchday.

During the break, Jonas Eidevall and his technical bench must have done something remarkable, as the girls were a different animal in the second half. The Gunner women came back and ran amok against Villa, scoring three goals, but the woodwork and the Villa keeper kept it from getting any worse for the Carla Ward-led side.

One wonders what Eidevall said to his players at halftime to make them come back hungry. Fortunately, he gave us the answer after the game: “We changed two things.” Jonas told Arsenal.com. “Villa were really, really compact in their organisation in their 5-3-2. It was really important to attack on one side with a structure and start dragging their 10s out on that side and then, with speed and determination, go over on the other side. That was where we would open them up.

“Once we got that clarity in the second half, we dragged them out and changed the point of attack and started to create some really clear chances. The other thing we spoke about was that Villa really wanted to play out from the back. When you win the ball in those moments against a low block, we needed to be much more forward oriented when you win the ball in these pressing situations and try to create from that.

“We did that really well in the second half as well. At times when you are 1-0 down, you want to try to put over so much information but I think experience told me and the team, in these situations, it’s important to get the details right that we really need to focus on what is going to make a difference.

“We said let’s not review what happened in the first half, let’s look into the future and paint a picture of what is going to be for us to be successful. I think we did that well, big credit to the players because they problem-solved, they were solution oriented, cool under pressure in the second half. We were so methodical and we kept on believing if we didn’t convert, we would create more chances. That was a really high performing team in a pressure situation.”

Some may argue that our Gunner women won the game because of their individual brilliance, but this is not true. If it had been down to individual brilliance or player skill, the first half would have been better. It’s clear that the coaching staff did a superb job at halftime to help Arsenal pull off the comeback win.

Congratulations to Jonas and the ladies for listening to the boss

Arsenal are set to travel to the Etihad when hostilities return in the Premier League next weekend. by AA

The result of the encounter could determine who wins the league, thus explaining the pressure ahead of the tie.

The Gunners have a horrible record at the Etihad with our last victory being in 2016 when we triumphed 2-0, courtesy of a goal apiece from Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud.

Despite this record, there is good reason to be hopeful ahead of Sunday’s clash and this is due to Manchester City’s record against the traditional big six they have faced at home this season.

The Citizens’ could only manage a draw against Liverpool, and trailed for 41 minutes against Chelsea before Rodri helped them secure a 1-1 draw.

A goal at the stroke of the normal regulation time from Dejan Kulusevski also denied them the maximum points against Tottenham.

The defending champions’ only victory against any of the top six that they have played at home this term was against Manchester United last month, coming from a goal down to beat their neighbors 3-1.

This means they’ve won just one out of the four games they have played against any of the big six at home this season which should encourage us ahead of the crunch tie.

Pep Guardiola’s side are also showing more vulnerability at the Etihad this season than they have in previous campaigns.

While they are yet to lose, they have dropped more points than they did last season and as much as they did two seasons ago, recording four draws out of the 14 games they have played.

Based on the foregoing, it is evident that the Citizens are not as dominant at home as they used to be in previous seasons.

Arsenal’s record against the big six and away record is another added reason to be hopeful ahead of Sunday’s clash.

We have not lost a game against any of the big teams this season, got maximum points against Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United at the Emirates and picked up a point at the Anfield and Stamford Bridge this season.

Our overall away record is also brilliant, as we boast the joint best away record in the division at the moment, losing just three times on the road.

Thus, there is a strong reason to be hopeful ahead of our meeting with the Citizens and coupled with the right mentality, the boys should be able to make us proud on Sunday at the Etihad.

According to the reports from Portugal, Mikel Arteta has asked Arsenal to boost his project with a top defender. The focus may be on how our title-chasing Arsenal will win the 2023–24 Premier League, but other discussions are taking place behind the scenes. Such a discussion is about how our Gunners may add talent to their roster in order to remain at the top.

The belief was that the Gunners’ summer transfer priorities would be a striker and a midfielder, but a marquee defender’s swoop is on the cards.

Interestingly, the Record, aside from reporting that Arteta has demanded a top defender, suggests who this defender could be. They say Sporting Lisbon’s Ousmane Diamonde could be the new defender at the Emirates Stadium.

Apparently, the Gunners have informed Sporting CP and Diamonde’s entourage that they want to hold talks that should end up with the 20-year-old becoming a Gunner, and considerig his age, he could be nurtured into the team like William Saliba by maybe being loaned out for further experience.

For that deal, the club is willing to offer £51 million but may have to pay more if bonuses are included.

Chelsea, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich are all interested in the Africa Cup of Nations champion, and Arsenal will need to be firm if they want to clinch the deal.

Having scouted Diamonde from his FC Midtjylland days before he joined Sporting in January 2023, Arsenal must have an idea of what the Ivory Coast defensive prodigy will offer to their project, and could hopefully become a mainstay of our defence in the future.

Jonas Eidevall and our Arsenal women faced off against Aston Villa women, and walked away 3-1 winners, in a game that we could have probably scored 10, but the Villa keeper and the crossbar kept the scores lower. Arsenal bounced back after last weeks loss to Chelsea, and looked back in great form, having 37 shots throughout the game to Villa’s 1. Here’s a run down of everything that happened.

The game started and Arsenal were on the front foot, creating chances and having most of the possession, but just couldn’t find the back of the net. In the 35th minute the home side managed to get themselves in front when ex Arsenal player Jordan Nobbs passed the ball through to Adrian Leon, who took a touch, looked up and squared the ball into the feet of Ebony Salmon, to take a shot and fire the ball past Zinsberger, into the bottom left corner of the net, to make it 1-0 to Villa.

Halftime came and we had had most of the ball and looked dangerous and, in the 54th minute, our patience paid off, when Cloe Lacasse won the ball back in the midfield, ending up at the feet of Alessia Russo, who took a shot just inside the box, but was saved by the Villa keeper and knocked out into the path of Victoria Pelova, who volleyed the ball first time into the back of the net to level up the scores.

Arsenal kept having chance after chance but the Villa keeper, and the crossbar, were keeping the scores level. It almost looked like the game was destined to be a draw, until the 84th minute when Russo whipped a lovely floating cross into the box for Lotte Wubben-Moy, who headed the ball down and into the back of the net, to make it 2-1 and give us a much deserved lead.

Only 3 minutes later we were at it again when Mead won the ball back, knocking it onto the run of Stina Blackstenius who drove towards the goal, losing her footing for a second but quickly got up and fired the ball on the ground past the Villa keeper to make it 3-1 and seal the win for the Gunners and secure the 3 points.

We probably should have wrapped up the win a lot earlier but for a while there it just didn’t seem like our day, but we managed to pinch a well deserved late victory and bounce back after last week’s disappointing loss.

Arsenal set to face 2 games a week for the remainder of the season

Arsenal have a massive period of football coming that is a big worry to me. If we beat Bayern Munich in The Champions League, we could be set to face 2 games every week for the remainder of the season which some might look at as not that much, but after a pretty full on season and last season’s congested amount of games, it does leave me to feel a bit concerned about the work load that our players are going to have to face in the coming months.

Currently we sit on top of the table and will travel to The Etihad to face Manchester City after the international break in what could be a make or break game for us if we want to win the title this season, then we play Luton and Brighton shortly after, in which we can hopefully see a bit of rotation to give our stars a rest. Then we look onto The Champions League and will welcome Bayern Munich to The Emirates, playing 4 games in the space of 10 days, including Aston Villa in between the UCL games, where once again will need to see changes to our personnel

This is not only a big workload for our players, but it could definitely lead to injuries that we just don’t need. We are about to face the biggest part of the season and having our players rested a ready will be vital if we want to challenge for the title this season. Players are already starting to pick up niggles and injuries, and some have had to leave internation duty or not even go at all, leaving our squad looking a little thin and without depth.

We are obviously not the only club who are picking up a few injuries, Kyle Walker was also forced out from playing for England after picking up a knock against Brazil in their friendly game at Wembley the other day. Saka has been forced to withdraw from England duty with complaints of an ongoing muscle injury and Brazilian trio Jesus, Gabriel and Martinelli were all ruled out of international duty.

We are nursing some players back from long term injuries and hopefully both Tomiyasu and Partey will be fit and ready for the game against Man City, and after having a run about against QPR in our behind closed doors game the other day, I am expecting them to be in contention but because of the injuries being somewhat recurring, we will have to take caution.

It worries me that the workload will get too much and were a few injuries away from disaster when at this point in the season, we need to be stronger than ever. I think the overload of football from last season, the world cup and international duties, have really taken a toll on the players and with such a busy period coming up, hopefully we can manage it well and keep everyone as fit as possible.

What’s your thoughts Gooners?
