Viktor Gyokeres is attracting significant interest, with Arsenal expressing serious intent to secure his services.

Despite Arsenal’s previous focus on players like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, Gyokeres’ consistent goal-scoring performances for Sporting Club have captured their attention.

Sporting acknowledges the challenge of retaining Gyokeres, given his impressive form and growing interest from top clubs.

However, Arsenal faces competition for his signature, with Atletico Madrid also entering the fray, according to reports from Sport Witness.

Atletico, previously interested in Juventus’ Moise Kean, is now eyeing Gyokeres as a potential summer acquisition.

Nevertheless, the report suggests that Arsenal holds a favourable position in the race for Gyokeres, as the Swedish forward is keen on a return to English football following his previous spell at Coventry City.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Gyokeres has been one of the hottest strikers in European football and we expect him to keep scoring even if we add him to our group.

The striker has already proved his worth in England and may not need much time to start scoring regularly at the Emirates if we sign him.

Leandro Trossard has proven to be a valuable contributor to Arsenal’s success since his arrival from Brighton just over a year ago.

Initially brought in as a backup to Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard has surpassed expectations and emerged as more than just a secondary option. He has been instrumental in scoring crucial goals for the team, including a recent pivotal goal that levelled the tie in Arsenal’s Champions League round of 16 match against FC Porto.

However, despite his impressive performances at the club level, Trossard has struggled to replicate his form when playing for Belgium at the international level.

Belgium boasts some of the world’s finest players, and Trossard consistently receives call-ups due to his club performances. However, he has not been able to showcase his talents for his country as effectively as he does for Arsenal.

Belgian journalist Romain Van der Pluym suggests that Trossard’s struggles with the national team stem from being improperly utilised in their setup.

He said, as quoted by Voetbal Primeur:

“Trossard is a man of depth. In Belgium, they ask him to be a man of the build-up and Trossard is simply not that.

“(Against Porto) Ødegaard gives him a brilliant pass to send him into the lane. How he perfectly asked for the ball there, that’s how he should be used.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Trossard is a good attacker, and Belgium has to find a way to unlock his talents and enjoy him as much as we do.

Raul Jimenez has been a prominent figure in the Premier League since his arrival in 2018 to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Initially, he made a significant impact at Wolves, establishing himself as a key player for the club and gaining recognition in English football.

During his peak, Jimenez’s performances attracted attention from several top clubs, including Arsenal, who were in need of a prolific goal-scorer.

However, his trajectory took a tragic turn during the 2020/2021 season when he suffered a serious head injury in a game against Arsenal.

The injury sidelined him for an extended period, derailing his momentum and leading to speculation regarding his potential move to Arsenal.

According to a report via Sport Witness, Arsenal had been monitoring Jimenez during this time. However, his lengthy absence from the game prompted the Gunners to pursue other targets, ultimately ending any possibility of him joining Arsenal.

Since returning from his injury and regaining full fitness, Jimenez’s form has undergone a transformation at his new club Fulham, albeit differing from his pre-injury level.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Jimenez was one of the best strikers in Europe during the start of his spell at Wolves and he could have been a superb addition to our squad if we signed him then.

However, the chance has passed him, and he is not among the strikers we wish to sign at the end of this term.

Ismael Bennacer is rumoured to be a potential returnee to Arsenal in the upcoming summer transfer window, as the Gunners have purportedly included him in their list of targets.

Bennacer previously featured for Arsenal from 2015 to 2017 before embarking on his career in Italy.

Since then, he has become a pivotal player for AC Milan, playing a significant role upon his return from injury in December.

Despite his importance to AC Milan, the club may need to offload players to strengthen their squad with new talent. This scenario could pave the way for Bennacer’s departure if a suitable offer materialises.

According to reports from Calciomercato, several clubs, including Arsenal, are monitoring Bennacer’s situation. The Gunners are keen to reinforce their midfield in the upcoming transfer window, and Bennacer could potentially serve as an ideal replacement for the injury-prone Thomas Partey.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Bennacer has done well since he left us and moved to Italy, and he might feel he has unfinished business at the Emirates, which could make him want to join us.

We have several midfielders on our shortlist, and it will be interesting to see which of them will eventually join us.

Considering the amount of goals Arsenal has scored this season, it is hard to believe that they do not have a prolific striker like Erling Haaland in their squad.

Mikel Arteta’s side is at the top of the Premier League table on goal difference, having scored more than Liverpool, who have some of the best goal-scorers in the league.

The Gunners have been fantastic in front of goal in 2024 and can finish the term comfortably without the input of the often-injured Gabriel Jesus. However, they also know they need a goal machine in the group and will solve that problem at the end of this campaign.

A report in the Daily Mail claims sporting director Edu has now drawn up a list of targets and has a ten-man shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Mail reveals Edu’s shortlist includes Ivan Toney, age 28, Brentford, Alexander Isak, 24, Newcastle, Viktor Gyoekeres, 25, Sporting CP, Victor Osimhen, 25, Napoli, Lois Openda, 24, RB Leipzig, Benjamin Sesko, 20, RB Leipzig, Evanilson, 24, Porto, Brian Brobbey, 22, Ajax, Santiago Gimenez, 22, Feyenoord, Victor Boniface, 23, Bayer Leverkusen.

These are some of the top strikers in Europe at the moment, and the Gunners are expected to sign at least one of them.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Although we have done well in terms of scoring goals, we must not overlook the importance of signing a new frontman as it could be the difference between success and failure next term.

Our Arsenal Women have had an up and down season, with some great moments and some terrible ones too. We’ve given away games and come back, and won games that looked unwinnable, but considering how good a team we’ve got to work with, it does leave me to question why we aren’t competing for the highest honours.

So, who’s to blame? For me, it’s the manager, Jonas Eidevall. He clearly has a great working relationship with the women, and they seem to love him, but there’s been times this season where he’s been too slow to make the big decisions, and has underestimated some teams, giving them a chance to take points and it’s held us back.

We’ve played well in most of our big games, beating Chelsea 4-1, beating Manchester United two times in the same season for the first time ever, and we also walked away 2-1 winners against Manchester City.  But it’s the games where you’d expect us to win that have been poor for me, and I think you have to blame that on how the manager plays his system and set up tactically.

Being knocked out of the Women’s Champions League was hard, and especially after we played such a great game, and in my opinion were robbed of a few goals. It also hurt getting knocked out of the Women’s FA Cup, by Manchester City, because for me, I really wanted to go for it in that, and because the WSL League title is now out of sight, it makes me wonder if Eidevall will. or should. still be around if we lose the Continental Cup on Sunday 31st March, against Chelsea.

Luckily, we look to have secured Champions League next season, but that’s mainly due to the fact Manchester United haven’t had a great season, and have lost heaps of points, but is that enough for him to keep his job? I’m not sure.

If  Arsenal Women end the season in 3rd place, and with the Continental Cup, i wouldn’t want to be too rash and sack the manager, as that’s a decent season and next season we can start again. With a good pre-season and without a lot of the overload we saw last year, and without the Cup. it should be a better pre-season. This season doesn’t feel like a good season to me, and as we’re set to face Chelsea it does worry me, because they’re definitely a good side and will want to end this season, Emma Hayes’ last season, on a high note, and with as many honours as possible – they are still in all competitions and looking to go for the Quadruple..

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for Sunday’s game, because it could be a deciding factor of what happens next season.

Gabriel Jesus has emerged as Arsenal’s primary number 9, signed to provide goals akin to Erling Haaland’s role at Manchester City.

Having previously been on Manchester City’s roster, Jesus was sought after by Mikel Arteta, who successfully reunited with the Brazilian at Arsenal.

Jesus is established as a top Premier League striker and a crucial figure in Arsenal’s achievements. However, his susceptibility to injuries has resulted in numerous absences this season due to various physical issues.

Despite this, Arsenal heavily relies on Jesus for goals whenever he is fit to play. In his absence, Kai Havertz has excelled in the false nine position.

Recognising the competition for his place in the team, Jesus is determined to earn his spot back as the primary choice striker and is prepared to put in the necessary effort.

According to The Sun, Jesus is aiming for an injury-free spell until the end of the season. Although omitted from the latest Brazil squad, he is reported to be in excellent condition and hopes to make significant contributions as Arsenal pursues success in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Jesus is one of the most important players at this club and we want him to contribute to our success this term, but he has to work his way back into the team.

Our Arsenal Women will face off against London rivals Chelsea, on Sunday, in the Continental Cup final. We have a long history in the competition, and a great history at that, winning the cup 6 times in the past, and have been in 10 finals out of the 13 that have ever been played. It’s definitely our Gunners competition, and on Sunday we will hopefully get our names on the trophy for the 7th time. The match is being played at Wolverhampton’s Molineux Stadium, on Sunday 31st March, kick-off 3PM UK.

Tickets are still available to purchase, but if you can’t make the game in person, it will be broadcast live in the UK on BBC2 (except in Northern Ireland) and also available on the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer, with coverage starting at 2.30pm.

It will also be available for international supporters to watch on the FA Player.

Playing against Chelsea is never easy as they’re a great team, with a great manager, but we have proved this season that we can beat them, after we smashed the Blues at the Emirates in December 4-1, but considering they just beat us too at Stamford bridge 3-1, Jonas Eidevall is going to have to be tactical and work out a system that will be able to get past them.

I said it before we faced them last, that we would have to surprise Hayes and her Chelsea team, and do something they’re not used to, and for me it could be as simple as playing both Alessia Russo and Stina Blackstenius together.

It’s worked in the past against teams, and I think Chelsea will be expecting us to line up almost the same as we did the last time we met. But they clearly caught us napping, and without a full half of football playey the game already looked gone, and if it wasn’t for a lucky deflection goal in the dying minutes, the Blues would have walked away 3-0, so for me, we need fire power.

Russo has been good this season and loves to play against Chelsea, having some great moments when she was at Manchester United, and managed to bag two goals in our 4-1 win against Chelsea at home. She’s definitely got to start and also, knowing a lot of the girls in the Chelsea squad and how they play, because of the England squad is definitely a plus. She’s not only a proper goal scorer but she also tracks back, and helps out defending from the front, so I think she will start up front.

I’d like to see Blackstenius in the high midfield/false 9 role just behind Russo. I think that gives us the extra fire power to go forward, and look lethal in attack. People may disagree, but I think this would take Chelsea off guard and could give us a great chance in winning the final.

Tactically, for me, things need to be changed for this game and, with the WSL title now looking out of sight, I’d say we need to find a way to dig deep and win this. We have plenty of experience winning it, and without the Cup this season it would feel like a bitter disappointment..

One of the biggest decisions Mikel Arteta made at the start of this season was to replace Aaron Ramsdale with David Raya in the Arsenal goal.

Ramsdale had been a fantastic goalkeeper for the Gunners for much of his time at the club.

He was a key contributor to Arsenal’s success last term when they nearly won the league and won the hearts of most of their fans.

So when Arteta decided to bring Raya to the club on loan from Brentford, most supporters sided with Ramsdale.

It was difficult to tell whether Raya was better, and the Spaniard’s start to life at the Emirates was shaky.

However, as time passed, he has proven to be the best goalkeeper in the team. His most recent heroics were to help Arsenal eliminate FC Porto in the Champions League and reach the quarterfinals.

Raya is now also battling to become Spain’s first choice, and a report in the Daily Mail claims Gunners’ supporters now believe Arteta made the right choice by making him their number one.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Raya has had to prove himself to most of us and deserves credit for the love and support he is enjoying at the Emirates now.

Ben White could still wear the England national team shirt if the defender changes his mind and decides to play for the team again.

White has taken himself out of the pool of players the Three Lions can rely on after leaving their World Cup camp in 2022.

The defender has been an asset for Arsenal in the last two terms and seems to get better whenever he plays.

England wants to win Euro 2024 and wants to pick the best squad possible for the competition, making White a player who could be helpful.

However, before the latest England squad was released, he informed the coaches that he was not available for selection.

It is a decision they are not happy about, but they respect it as the defender has the right to choose whether to play for his country or not.

However, England manager Gareth Southgate has not completely closed the door on the defender and said, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

‘It’s really for Ben now. Dec is obviously in a difficult situation you’re asking him about a team-mate and he’s going to be careful what he says. As I’ve said to you, the door is open for us.

‘That’s clearly difficult ahead of the Euros, where you’ve got players that have played all the way through but we have no idea of knowing who’s going to be available in that area of the pitch.

‘I respected the situation as Arsenal have contacted us. So in the end, I know the conversation I had with him last March. I felt I should back away from it a little bit. But I’ve always left the door open. I was keen to bring him in this camp.’

Just Arsenal Opinion

It is sad that White does not want to play for England, but he is a good professional and we respect his decision.

Fabrizio Romano has just revealed the latest on Arsenal’s pursuit of Wolves winger Pedro Neto. According to the European transfer guru, Arsenal is looking for wingers in the transfer market.

He has stated that the Gunners have a long list of wingers they are considering for a summer transfer. However, we should closely monitor Pedro Neto, as he could be their top transfer target.

Apparently, the Gunners and other Neto suitors, like Spurs, are waiting for Wolves to divulge the asking price before the transfer war begins.

Romano said on CaughtOffside: “Arsenal have some wingers in their sights for the summer, but while it’s normal to see a long list of names linked with clubs in this situation, who’s really emerging as the main options on Arsenal’s list?

“Pedro Neto is a player Arsenal like and have looked at before, but we have to wait for Wolves to decide initial price tag to understand what Arsenal, Tottenham and more clubs will decide to do.”

With two goals and nine assists in 19 league games, Neto is a player who many believe deserves a move to Emirates.

But what about his persistent injuries? Will teams overlook them? We will have to wait and see.

However, if Arsenal signs Neto (or another winger), he may be an excellent backup for Saka. The Hale End graduate has been outstanding on Arsenal’s right wing, making him virtually unstoppable. This has resulted in him having a heavy workload, raising worries about his long-term dependability. Ultimately, Mikel Arteta may be pushing hard to add a quality winger to his squad in order to protect his ‘star boy’.

We visit Manchester City when club football returns this weekend in a crucial game where neither team can afford to lose.

Arsenal currently sits atop the Premier League standings on goal difference ahead of Liverpool and has been in formidable form in 2024.

City occupies the third position on the table, with a single point separating them from the top. A victory in this fixture could propel them to the league summit, depending on Liverpool’s result this weekend.

City has faced challenges against us in recent encounters, and we emerged victorious in the reverse fixture. The question is whether we can secure another victory over them this term and complete a double.

Team news

Injuries have been a significant issue for us this season, and we experienced at least two scares during the international break.

Bukayo Saka withdrew from the England squad due to a physical problem, though it is believed to be minor.

Gabriel Magalhaes was also replaced in the Brazil squad for their latest matches as a precautionary measure, but we expect both players to be ready for the game.

Gabriel Martinelli is also racing against time to regain fitness, but Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu were involved in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the break. We could see a midfield pairing of Partey and Declan Rice from the start of this match.

Arteta will be pleased with the players available for this game and is expected to field a strong team against the champions.

David Raya has been outstanding for both club and country and is likely to start in goal.

Ahead of the Spanish goalkeeper, we anticipate a back four consisting of Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and the impressive Jakub Kiwior. Kiwior edges out Oleksandr Zinchenko and Tomiyasu due to his solid performances at the back.

The return of Partey could pose a selection dilemma for Mikel Arteta. He’ll likely start the Ghanaian alongside Rice providing additional defensive stability against City’s creative threats and Martin Odegaard more forward in a midfield front three.

It’s uncertain if Martinelli will be fit for the game. In his absence, Leandro Trossard is a reliable option to start alongside Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka in a front-three.

The latest Italian prospect being closely monitored by top European clubs is Francesco Camarda of AC Milan.

The teenager recently turned 16 and made his debut for the Milan senior side before reaching that age, highlighting his exceptional talent.

AC Milan is diligently working to protect and nurture the young prodigy, aiming to prevent him from being tempted away by other clubs.

However, this hasn’t deterred clubs from expressing interest in acquiring him, with Arsenal now among those reportedly attempting to lure him away from Milan.

Arsenal has a strong reputation for developing talented young players, making them an appealing destination for prospects like Camarda.

However, Arsenal isn’t the only Premier League club interested in the youngster. According to a report from Calciomercato, Newcastle United is also closely monitoring his progress.

Under the management of Eddie Howe, Newcastle has demonstrated a willingness to provide opportunities to young players, which could potentially sway Camarda’s decision to consider joining the Magpies.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Camarda has a big future ahead of him, but at 16, he will not come close to playing for our first team, so it is probably better for him to remain at Milan and become a more established player before we sign him.

Jurrien Timber arrived at Arsenal in the summer as one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

He had a good pre-season, but his competitive campaign was cut short in the first league game of the season, and he is now racing against time to play again this campaign.

However, the defender is still expected to do well at Arsenal, and his brother has been tipped to perform well for a team like the Gunners.

Arsenal has been linked with a move for Quinten Timber before, as he shines for Feyenoord, and his present manager, Arne Slot, is confident he will do well for a top side.

Quinten is looking to move to a bigger European league and test himself there, just like his brother.

It remains unclear how strong Arsenal’s interest in his signature is, but Slot said, as quoted by Voetbal Zone:

“If he continues to develop as he has in the past year, his ceiling is extremely high.

“Because he has made great development in the past year. I think he is a very special player because he has the strength and speed in midfield to create a surplus. And I also think he has a very good mentality and is a very good boy.

“I think they (the Timber brothers) are both very good. That one is already at Arsenal, and I don’t think it is ruled out that Quinten should also be able to go to a club of that calibre.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

The Timber brothers are highly-rated talents in Dutch football, but Quinten needs to be better to break into our current midfield.
