Predicting the exact number of points needed to win the Premier League title can be challenging due to various factors such as team form, injuries, and unexpected results. However, historically, winning the Premier League typically requires around 85 to 90 points.

Considering the competitiveness of this season’s title race and the fact that Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are all closely contending, it’s likely that the winning team will need to accumulate at least 85 points or more.

With Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City currently separated by just one point after 28 games, the title race appears to be extremely tight. Every point earned or dropped in the remaining fixtures will be crucial in determining the eventual champion.

Writing in his column in the Telegraph, Jamie Carragher said:

‘A win at the Etihad would erase any lingering negative assessments of Arsenal. They will be favourites if they beat City as it would give them the confidence to believe they can and should win all their remaining games.

‘For me, 90 points will win the title this season. If so, the margins are so small that anything more than a couple of draws for one of the contenders will spell the end.

‘That’s what makes Sunday so huge.’

Just Arsenal Opinion

Winning the league will be tough; our target should be winning all our remaining matches this term.

It will be tough to achieve, considering we still face both Manchester clubs, but we have been in good shape lately and can continue winning.

Arsenal will visit Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend for arguably one of the toughest remaining fixtures for both teams.

They, along with Liverpool, are engaged in a close three-horse race for the league title this season, and neither side wants to fall behind.

The match at the Etihad Stadium holds significant importance for both teams, with City aiming to avenge their loss in the reverse fixture.

Arsenal has displayed great character at this stage of the season, showing improvement compared to their performance in the second half of the last campaign.

However, City boasts more experience in clinching league titles, and many still consider Liverpool as the second favourites to win the league.

Despite this, Mikel Arteta’s side is confident in their abilities and will be targeting a shock victory at the Etihad this weekend. However, Roy Keane does not share the same optimism regarding Arsenal’s chances.

While predicting the outcome of the game alongside other pundits, Keane insists on The Overlap:

‘This is big boy stuff now.

‘Arsenal are not winning there. Arsenal are not winning at Man City.

‘I’m going 2-1 City. Arsenal aren’t winning there. You’re all getting kidded, I’m telling you.’

Just Arsenal Opinion

We are not the favourites to beat City, but we do not have to pay attention to these predictions.

Our players have been fantastic in 2024, and just need to stay focused on ourselves and how we will perform.

The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup, or the Women’s Conti Cup as it’s more often referred to, had it’s inaugural season in 2011. The Arsenal Women have reached the final in 10 of the 13 times it has been staged, and are the most successful women’s team, having won the cup a record 6 times. Top WSL rivals Manchester City Women have won 4 times, with top-of-the-table Chelsea only having won the cup twice.

Arsenal Women will go up against Chelsea on Sunday, 31st March, in a repeat of last years Conti Cup Final. Arsenal Women are the reigning champions, having beaten Chelsea 3-1 in last year’s Final. Take a look at the Women’s Conti Cup history, and our Gunners previous successes, below (courtesy of Wikipedia):

We’ll all be hoping that Arsenal have their name engraved on the trophy for a record seventh time, on Sunday. I hope we see a repeat of Arsenal’s dominant win over Chelsea in last year’s Conti Cup Final (highlights below). And I hope us Gooners get to celebrate lifting that trophy for a consecutive season!

Highlights – Impressive Arsenal Women beat Chelsea 3-1 to win the Conti Cup Final

In their last WSL encounter with Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge, earlier this month, Arsenal Women walked away beaten 3-1 by the Blues, in what was quite a humiliating defeat. But, since then, Arsenal beat Aston Villa 3-1, at Villa Park, last week – coming back spectacularly from behind, in the second half. That should give our Gunners some confidence. Beth Mead certainly believes so!

Beth Mead ready to recover from “worst performance” to get revenge on Chelsea Women on Sunday

If our Gunners are to beat the Blues this time around, they will have to go up against Chelsea with some excellent tactics and belief in themselves. This will be the last time that Eidevall & the squad will go up against Emma Hayes, as she is moving stateside to manage the US Women’s National Team. Whoever wins today could well come down to the tactics these two employ..

Here’s how I think Arsenal can beat Chelsea in the Women’s Conti Cup Final – what do you think?

You can watch the match live on BBC2 (coverage from 2.30pm), BBC iPlayer & The FA Player.

What are your thoughts Gooners?

Martin Zubimendi is a player Arsenal has been interested in for some time, and if he decides to leave Real Sociedad at the end of this term, the Gunners will be keen to sign him.

After contributing significantly to Real Sociedad’s qualification for this season’s Champions League, the midfielder opted to remain with the club last summer.

He played a pivotal role for them in the competition as they progressed to the knockout stages.

As this term draws to a close, Zubimendi will once again need to contemplate his future, weighing the option of staying with Sociedad or seeking a new challenge elsewhere.

Sociedad is keen on retaining him, considering him as integral as any other key player at the club.

Therefore, if Arsenal or any other interested party wishes to secure his services, they must meet his release clause.

According to Fichajes, the release clause is 60 million euros, and Sociedad will retain Zubimendi if no suitor is willing to meet this fee.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Zubimendi is on the radar of the top European clubs for a reason and if we are serious about improving our group, we must be prepared to pay that clause and that means making him one of our most expensive signings.

Can Arsenal rise to the occasion?

A storm is brewing in Manchester as the anticipation grows. As the premier league returns from a brief hiatus, there is one fixture that has everyone’s attention. As the season is nearing the end, pressure mounts on all the teams. The margin for error shrinks and every fixture becoming more significant as the season goes on. It has been a long season with many ups and downs, but at this moment Arsenal is at the top of the summit. A point separating Arsenal from City, there is not much separating the top 3. This upcoming fixture could be an opportunity to have a statement win and create separation at the top.

Both teams are coming in with good form. Arsenal are flying in the league and City doing well in the league, the clash on Sunday will be a spectacle for all to enjoy. Injuries are the main concern for both teams. With the likes of Walker, Stones and De Bruyne being injury doubts, the will look like a weakened team. The same could be said for Arsenal, with Martinelli, Gabriel and Saka being out for Arsenal. However, with the return of Partey and Timber, it could be the boost we need for the game.

It will be a pivotal game for both teams. For Arsenal it’s more of a psychological victory, knowing they can beat City away from home will fill the team full of confidence for their march to the title. It’s an achievement for Arteta as well, having the double over his Pep, he will no longer be seen as the apprentice.

It is a major fixture but the season is long. Even with the win it does not guarantee, upsets can happen especially with so much is on the line. Every game matters, hopefully, the drought for the league can end this season.

Arsenal has been closely monitoring Sporting Club, with several of its players impressing the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side aims to improve their options in the summer, and Sporting could be a team from which they can poach at least one player.

Under Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese side has been one of the finest performers in Europe.

The young manager has instilled an attractive brand of football in them, which also appears to be yielding success.

They are on the verge of winning the Portuguese league, which could prompt several of their players to leave as European heavyweights circle around them.

Arsenal is interested in at least two of them, with Viktor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande both linked with a move to the Emirates.

Gyokeres is emerging as a leading candidate to become Arsenal’s next number nine, while Diomande could be their next centre-back signing.

A report on Sport Witness claims both players are firmly on Arsenal’s radar, and the club is considering signing them when the season ends.

However, Diomande’s release clause is worth 80 million euros, while Gyokeres stands at 100 million euros.

This means Arsenal would spend close to 200 million euros if they are keen on signing both players at the end of the season.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Diomande and Gyokeres are superb players who will easily improve our options, but both men cost too much at 180m euros.

Unless Sporting agrees to negotiate the deals, we have to find other targets to sign.

It appears that Victor Osimhen has emerged as the preferred choice among Arsenal’s attacking targets, capturing the attention of the club’s decision-makers.

The Nigerian striker, who clinched the Golden Boot in Serie A last season, has continued to shine for Napoli during the current campaign, solidifying his status as a key player for the Italian champions.

Following the inclusion of a release clause in his latest contract extension, Napoli anticipates Osimhen’s departure at the end of the season, paving the way for a potential transfer.

Osimhen has attracted interest from top clubs across Europe, with Arsenal eager to secure his signature. The Gunners have taken proactive steps by initiating talks with Napoli, as reported by Four Four Two.

Napoli, preparing for Osimhen’s impending exit, anticipates that his next club will meet the release clause stipulated in his contract. However, it remains uncertain whether Arsenal will adhere to the clause or seek to negotiate the fee.

The negotiation process will be closely monitored, particularly regarding whether Napoli will insist on the fulfilment of Osimhen’s release clause before agreeing to his departure.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Osimhen is one of the best strikers in Europe, and we will sign a world-class goal scorer if we can agree to a contract with the former Lille man.

Former Arsenal and Manchester City player Gael Clichy has shared his insights on the upcoming match between the two clubs, expressing confidence in Arsenal’s ability to challenge the defending champions.

Arsenal faces a formidable test as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City, a match that Clichy acknowledges as one of the Gunners’ toughest of the season.

Despite the daunting task ahead, Arsenal has proven to be a tricky opponent for City in recent encounters, even securing a victory in their previous meeting.

With Arsenal currently sitting at the top of the league standings, albeit on goal difference ahead of Liverpool, the stakes are high for both teams in the upcoming fixture.

While City poses a formidable challenge, particularly at home, Clichy believes that Arsenal possesses the necessary qualities to exploit the weaknesses in City’s game and secure a positive result this weekend.

He said, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

‘The weakness in the Man City team is when they are in possession, they often lose the second ball and can be hurt on transition.

‘Players like (Bukayo) Saka) and (Gabriel) Martinelli can hurt City on the transition. Keeping the ball and using the space in behind could be the key. If there is one team that is capable of going there and getting the points, it is Arsenal.’

Just Arsenal Opinion

To win the league, we have to go to difficult stadiums and win games there, so the game against City is a must-win fixture for us.

Despite Arsenal’s previous focus on players like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, Gyokeres’ consistent goal-scoring performances for Sporting Club have captured their attention.

Sporting acknowledges the challenge of retaining Gyokeres, given his impressive form and growing interest from top clubs.

However, Arsenal faces competition for his signature, with Atletico Madrid also entering the fray, according to reports from Sport Witness.

Atletico, previously interested in Juventus’ Moise Kean, is now eyeing Gyokeres as a potential summer acquisition.

Nevertheless, the report suggests that Arsenal holds a favourable position in the race for Gyokeres, as the Swedish forward is keen on a return to English football following his previous spell at Coventry City.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Gyokeres has been one of the hottest strikers in European football and we expect him to keep scoring even if we add him to our group.

The striker has already proved his worth in England and may not need much time to start scoring regularly at the Emirates if we sign him.

Leandro Trossard has proven to be a valuable contributor to Arsenal’s success since his arrival from Brighton just over a year ago.

Initially brought in as a backup to Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard has surpassed expectations and emerged as more than just a secondary option. He has been instrumental in scoring crucial goals for the team, including a recent pivotal goal that levelled the tie in Arsenal’s Champions League round of 16 match against FC Porto.

However, despite his impressive performances at the club level, Trossard has struggled to replicate his form when playing for Belgium at the international level.

Belgium boasts some of the world’s finest players, and Trossard consistently receives call-ups due to his club performances. However, he has not been able to showcase his talents for his country as effectively as he does for Arsenal.

Belgian journalist Romain Van der Pluym suggests that Trossard’s struggles with the national team stem from being improperly utilised in their setup.

He said, as quoted by Voetbal Primeur:

“Trossard is a man of depth. In Belgium, they ask him to be a man of the build-up and Trossard is simply not that.

“(Against Porto) Ødegaard gives him a brilliant pass to send him into the lane. How he perfectly asked for the ball there, that’s how he should be used.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Trossard is a good attacker, and Belgium has to find a way to unlock his talents and enjoy him as much as we do.

Raul Jimenez has been a prominent figure in the Premier League since his arrival in 2018 to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Initially, he made a significant impact at Wolves, establishing himself as a key player for the club and gaining recognition in English football.

During his peak, Jimenez’s performances attracted attention from several top clubs, including Arsenal, who were in need of a prolific goal-scorer.

However, his trajectory took a tragic turn during the 2020/2021 season when he suffered a serious head injury in a game against Arsenal.

The injury sidelined him for an extended period, derailing his momentum and leading to speculation regarding his potential move to Arsenal.

According to a report via Sport Witness, Arsenal had been monitoring Jimenez during this time. However, his lengthy absence from the game prompted the Gunners to pursue other targets, ultimately ending any possibility of him joining Arsenal.

Since returning from his injury and regaining full fitness, Jimenez’s form has undergone a transformation at his new club Fulham, albeit differing from his pre-injury level.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Jimenez was one of the best strikers in Europe during the start of his spell at Wolves and he could have been a superb addition to our squad if we signed him then.

However, the chance has passed him, and he is not among the strikers we wish to sign at the end of this term.

Ismael Bennacer is rumoured to be a potential returnee to Arsenal in the upcoming summer transfer window, as the Gunners have purportedly included him in their list of targets.

Bennacer previously featured for Arsenal from 2015 to 2017 before embarking on his career in Italy.

Since then, he has become a pivotal player for AC Milan, playing a significant role upon his return from injury in December.

Despite his importance to AC Milan, the club may need to offload players to strengthen their squad with new talent. This scenario could pave the way for Bennacer’s departure if a suitable offer materialises.

According to reports from Calciomercato, several clubs, including Arsenal, are monitoring Bennacer’s situation. The Gunners are keen to reinforce their midfield in the upcoming transfer window, and Bennacer could potentially serve as an ideal replacement for the injury-prone Thomas Partey.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Bennacer has done well since he left us and moved to Italy, and he might feel he has unfinished business at the Emirates, which could make him want to join us.

We have several midfielders on our shortlist, and it will be interesting to see which of them will eventually join us.

Considering the amount of goals Arsenal has scored this season, it is hard to believe that they do not have a prolific striker like Erling Haaland in their squad.

Mikel Arteta’s side is at the top of the Premier League table on goal difference, having scored more than Liverpool, who have some of the best goal-scorers in the league.

The Gunners have been fantastic in front of goal in 2024 and can finish the term comfortably without the input of the often-injured Gabriel Jesus. However, they also know they need a goal machine in the group and will solve that problem at the end of this campaign.

A report in the Daily Mail claims sporting director Edu has now drawn up a list of targets and has a ten-man shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Mail reveals Edu’s shortlist includes Ivan Toney, age 28, Brentford, Alexander Isak, 24, Newcastle, Viktor Gyoekeres, 25, Sporting CP, Victor Osimhen, 25, Napoli, Lois Openda, 24, RB Leipzig, Benjamin Sesko, 20, RB Leipzig, Evanilson, 24, Porto, Brian Brobbey, 22, Ajax, Santiago Gimenez, 22, Feyenoord, Victor Boniface, 23, Bayer Leverkusen.

These are some of the top strikers in Europe at the moment, and the Gunners are expected to sign at least one of them.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Although we have done well in terms of scoring goals, we must not overlook the importance of signing a new frontman as it could be the difference between success and failure next term.

Our Arsenal Women have had an up and down season, with some great moments and some terrible ones too. We’ve given away games and come back, and won games that looked unwinnable, but considering how good a team we’ve got to work with, it does leave me to question why we aren’t competing for the highest honours.

So, who’s to blame? For me, it’s the manager, Jonas Eidevall. He clearly has a great working relationship with the women, and they seem to love him, but there’s been times this season where he’s been too slow to make the big decisions, and has underestimated some teams, giving them a chance to take points and it’s held us back.

We’ve played well in most of our big games, beating Chelsea 4-1, beating Manchester United two times in the same season for the first time ever, and we also walked away 2-1 winners against Manchester City.  But it’s the games where you’d expect us to win that have been poor for me, and I think you have to blame that on how the manager plays his system and set up tactically.

Being knocked out of the Women’s Champions League was hard, and especially after we played such a great game, and in my opinion were robbed of a few goals. It also hurt getting knocked out of the Women’s FA Cup, by Manchester City, because for me, I really wanted to go for it in that, and because the WSL League title is now out of sight, it makes me wonder if Eidevall will. or should. still be around if we lose the Continental Cup on Sunday 31st March, against Chelsea.

Luckily, we look to have secured Champions League next season, but that’s mainly due to the fact Manchester United haven’t had a great season, and have lost heaps of points, but is that enough for him to keep his job? I’m not sure.

If  Arsenal Women end the season in 3rd place, and with the Continental Cup, i wouldn’t want to be too rash and sack the manager, as that’s a decent season and next season we can start again. With a good pre-season and without a lot of the overload we saw last year, and without the Cup. it should be a better pre-season. This season doesn’t feel like a good season to me, and as we’re set to face Chelsea it does worry me, because they’re definitely a good side and will want to end this season, Emma Hayes’ last season, on a high note, and with as many honours as possible – they are still in all competitions and looking to go for the Quadruple..

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for Sunday’s game, because it could be a deciding factor of what happens next season.
