So what “Other Opportunity” are Arsenal looking for, Unai?

What “other” Opportunity Emery? by brighton manyex

Greetings Gooners

I am getting too excited by our market exploits and pre-season matches, they are encouraging. We are still playing that exciting game and its good to see the intensity too and high pressing, BUTof course there are some concerns to be sorted…

I AM WONDERING WHAT OTHER OPPORTUNITIES does Emery want when we have 2 World Cup heroes at our disposal Steven N’Zonzi and Ousmane Dembele. And all have shown their utmost desire and interest in joining Arsenal. PLEASE whoever is at Arsenal and responsible for decision making just make YOUR FANS HAPPY in this market window…even if we dont win anything, at least we will sympathize, but I doubt we won’t win with such a squad.

Against Chelsea our deficiency in aerial prowess as exposed and we want a defensive and offensive player like N’Zonzi to help in there…Matteo Guendouzi is an AMAZING young talent waaw! I wish to see him partner either N’Zonzi or Torreira. Our Attack was OK but we are lacking that kinda player who is fast and direct and CAN SCORE…Iwobi is awesome but I feel his positioning is not correct when either Ramsey, Mikhtharyan and Ozil are in the match. These players play pretty much the same so we need 2 of them at a time! I wouldn’t mind releasing Aaron Ramsey (because of his injury record) now.

Why is the team quiet about Danny Welbeck? He should be sold ASAP and I have a feeling too that Reiss-Nelson is still afraid to release the beast in himself, he is an asset but he must be LOANED to get game time and experience. Lucas Perez and Joel Campbell MUST be released too…and pave way for Mb’aye Niang!

This rumour of releasing Shkodran Mustafi must be buried forthwith….he is the best Centre-Back we have so far..even better than our new acquisition Papa Sokratis.

Also I noted that our left-back still needs some consideration…but so far so GREAT….GO GUNNERS GO!

Thanx
Gooner Manyex!

  1. i always blamed wenger for not buying important players. but it seems that the board are at fault and they are happy with their income and dont care with the supporters who pay good money to attend matches. gooner = forever

    1. Hi
You like so many many others sound like a broken record.
      Blame wegner for this
      Blame him for that
      Blame him for everything
If I have not said it once I have said it a thousand times since his departure.
      Remember what we achieved
Forget what we didnt do and how painful the last 10 seasons have been
      We can’t look backwards
      Let’s look forward
We have the makings of some glory years in front of us ..
I am so excited about this season and what it can bring.
Will we win the league .. it’s a long shot but possible.
Will the team improve from the last 10 seasons……God damn right
Chin up.. chest out…and get behind our potential glory hunters

      1. If we ignore the past then we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
One mistake was to blame Wenger for so much, too few supporters was questioning the people who was really in control for the easy to understand narrative of Wenger being the dictator.

I am a broken record when it comes to Gazidis, I have been for a number of years now, yet I find it refreshing to see people say that MAYBE it wasn’t all Wenger and the board appear to be acting as if Wenger was still here.

If Wenger was the manager and rumors of us having a maximum of £50 mil to spend in this window then there would be hundreds of posts on dozens of articles, all slating Wenger.

If it is bad when Wenger was here then how come it is good now that he has left?

I think you totally misunderstand the term glory hunter as well, that is normally a derogatory term for fickle fans who support whoever is winning, no commitment or passion to the team and just want to brag. I hope we get players who want to make us winners, not play for us because they think they will be winners by doing so, that fills the squad up with average players who sponge a large wage.

        1. I concur on lots of your points
Weather it was wegner or the board or both parties that has seen our beloved club fall from grace … who knows
Glory hunters … I didn’t put it correctly
I want our squad to Hunter down and win all the competitions they have entered.
No one remembers the loosers only the winners
I want us to get back to the winning mentatliy
Keep going until the dying seconds not good after 19 minutes which has happened too often
Get rid of the players who are coasting andhappy to pick up the wages
I believe the new man is good enough to see for him self who he needs to get rid off
I am realistic to understand that it will take time and not happen in one season
If it does as it did under wegner then I will be over the moon
Improving our away form and keeping what we did at home and we will be in the running
The last couple of games has proven we are getting better
A long way to go but boy it’s going to be exciting …
          Come on you reds

            1. Now now…
              Do you understand
It was both parties fault but Wegner was in charge and had a major say on everything that went on
Where have you been for the past 10 seasons
Or are you deluded and only see one thing and that is the board.

    2. Ozil £42 mil
      alexis £35 mil
      Xhaka £35 mil
      Mustafi £35 mil
      Aubameyang £56 mil
      Lacazette £52 mil
      Chambers £16 mil
      Welbeck £16 mil

      Kroenke let Wenger spend money

      1. Wenger only wanted Welbroke on loan, he said as much in an interview, he got the attacker he wanted and that was Alexis. Welbroke was nothing more than a loan desire.

Just think about this for a moment, Wenger didn’t want Welbroke…
Just like Wenger didn’t want Perez and it clearly shown in how little trust he put into the one season wonder.

Do you know the fee Lyon asked for Laca 12 months prior to us signing him? Add Perez and Welbrokes fee together and it is very close.

Two signings that Wenger didn’t want and he had to wait to get the signing he did want and that eventually cost the club a greater fee.

Now to remove the Auba from Wenger spending, we all know and read how Wenger was kept out of that deal and it was Sven who pushed for it… We also read how it took all window while Wenger wanted a CB (Evan urghh), did we get a CB? What did fans want… Of course Auba is always a want 😛 but fans was crying out for a CB.

Silent Stan didn’t go “Here Wenger, have my bank account”….
Silent Stan was more likely to be “Huh what? I have people to manage those things for me”

Just like he has with his other sports teams, if you would care to research it yourself, like many have already.

The spending control is Gazidis and the board. I could find the quote if I could be bothered but so can you, Wenger could be given £5 million or £50 million, he would say thank you and get to work within the budget. Never complained… but we would know that if we take a second to think about the biggest flaw past players have said about Wenger, he dislikes confrontation.

        1. Midkemma, Arsene Wenger’s biggest failing was to continously run interference for Kroenke and the Board, when and if transfer funds were denied to him. In the first half of his management tenure he built up a lot of personal capital, which he should have used to stand up to the Board. He failed to do this and in particular should have supported David Dein with his vision for Arsenal.

        2. Your final sentence revealed the damning truth about Wenger- not that we needed any revealing, as it has been obvious for 22 years past – and his not being able to stand confrontation. That is so true and so damning to his status. ANY manager who is unable and unwilling to confront problem players, problem board members and a problem owner is about as much use in a crisis, as a chocolate teapot. Imagine Fergie EVER ducking vitally needed confrontation? The very thought is ludicrous. THAT is why he sorted problems as they arose (and was the all time greatest club manager) and did not let them fester for years, as WENGER DID.

  2. Manyex, you can bury your obsession on Ousmane Dembele, as Arsenal would not buy a young player with 100M+ price tag. They would most likely chase a much cheaper winger like Adama Traore

Selling Welbeck, Perez and Campbell is not gonna be easy if there is no real interest from other clubs. Even if Arsenal put them on a fire sale, their salaries are too big for small clubs

I’m not convinced with any Arsenal CB, including the new one, Sokratis. I wish they chase Yerry Mina, to add more height in the back, but he seems to be headed towards Man United

  3. Agree with most of your points.

I’d like to see Guendouzi partner Torreira as well though that would leave us with a serious lack of height in midfield (one of your other points) and would mean we lose most aerial battles in the middle of the park, especially with Ozil playing as CAM.

We don’t have players that are fast and direct, unfortunately. We play the possession game and move the ball around the box until we can find an opening. Our most explosive players are probably Auba and Bellerin..

    1. That’s why I’d love us bringing Rabiot

With Kolasinac out, I wish we could may be give Campbell a go at left back.. Just saying since Russia did it with cherychev and look at the best left back they are attack minded players with pace to recover Alba and co.

    2. Y’all complaining abt winning or losing arial duels in the midfield bcos of Torreira’s height…
Stats show that he won more arial duels that any othe midfielder or attacker in Uruguay’s world cup squad(a squad with the likes of bentancur, cavani and suarez)…The guy has jump power and is a fighter…
He’ll surelybe partnered with Xhaka or Guendouzi and we’re good

  4. I am calm because i know Emery will do the job… He will bring the title back home… I Chiza believes in Emery…do you believe in Emery???…. Let’s come together and give him support..he needs it

  5. Once again i tell arsenal fans to keep calm and celebrate..we have signed Dembele!!…..the clubs are only keeping it secret…they want to announce it in a big way…….the structure of the deal has not been revealed but I have a feeling we are spreading the fees across seasons..Barcelona didn’t want to sell but their hands were tied after Dembele forced a move…he only wanted to come over to arsenal after meeting mislintat and his friends in arsenal….they turned his head and convinced him to join…but Dembele is keeping it cool because he respects Barcelona

    1. If that’s true, Dembele has forced Dortmund to sell him and then now he is forcing Barcelona

      That’s not good, is it

      1. @Chiza – if there is a dembele-to-arsenal contract to about to be announced, How is it you got to know of it. Arrangements as these are invariably subject to controls in the form of privacy of contract. guess you are his agent, or some way personally involved in the transfer;

        1. waal waal , Can I respectfully suggest you do not feed Chiza’s fantasy by answering him , even in the correct way you did. I have many times challenged this excitable young child over his ridiculous constant hype of our chances. And his self delusion with Dembele coming too. I have now given up wasting my time too. You cannot put a brain in someone elses empty head.

  6. Dembele 1 or 2 year loan deal at 25M with an option to buy in 2020 for 100M (numbers might change) seems to be gaining steam on twitter world.
Add Ramsey signing a long term contract and we are good to go!
I know Defense is still looking shaky but I think we need to give Unai some more time with that and Torreira sitting in fornt of the defense should help quite a bit.
    Dembele,Ozil,Laca,Auba,Mhki,Ramsey,Torreira,Guendouzi,Xhaka,Iwobi,AMN,Nelson,Nketiah.
That to me is a super exciting group of players for our attack and midfield. Deep enough for all the competitions we will be playing in and full of experience and youth. I love it.

  7. @Chiza… It’s only 5-6 days left for transfer window to close, so how long before the clubs announce??

    1. … ramblings the result of unsubstantiated hearsay and guesswork nothing more – how have we managed to acquire dembele before having finalized the departures, of welbeck nd/or peres? seems a strange bordering on amateur approach to go about business.

  8. Did the article writer just say that we buy Niang? Come on, what are we,? Stoke? The guy failed terribly at Watford and is worse than Welbeck. At this rate, we can as well recall Gervinho. smh

  9. Call me doubtful of Dembele deal. We haggled a £26 million clause to spread out over 3 years at £10 per. Buy aging Papa for £18, spend £7 million on Guendouzi (maybe struck gold with that), and RB on a free.

But somehow spending mega bucks on Dembele? Sorry not buying that, highly skeptical.

    Nothing is impossible, only improbable.

I think the Auba purchase ate into transfer kitty for this Summer; had to in attempt to finish 4th in CL spot. No proof or evidence, merely my opinion.

Add that cash to the £50 million rumored kitty, and that is close to amount club tells fans every year.
True or not, don’t know. I do know club bleats about £100 million transfer kitty every summer and media sells it.

  10. With respect if you feel Mustafi is our best centre back you are deluding yourself. We do not have one top quality defender for any back four position and until this glaring weakness is resolved we have no chance of winning the Premier League.

    1. Who’s our best centre back then?

There’s no way you can call Sokratis, who’ve you seen in two friendly games. Koscielny yes probably but was suspect a lot last year and out for half the season. Chambers of Holding? Both too young and inexperienced.. same as Movrapanos.

      1. From my view, Chambers was our best CB in the few games he played. Looking at preseason Mustafi has been our best CB and Chambers a close second.

I must ask this first, which commanding CB is out there that will come in and fix arsenal defensive problems, could someone name them. PLEASE.
I have heard people talking about Soyuncu the youngster, is he any better than what we have NNOOOOOOO, i guarantee he would take 1-2 season to settle in this league. Anyone notice manu, liverpool, chelsea and mancity ever year they buy a CB, WHY, it is because the defenders they buy are not of this league and their old team system allowed them to defend without much offensive pressure/

Our top six teams use at most times an offensive system, which the defence will be exposed in one on one, the good offensive teams dominate the ball so less chance of opposition scoring. New CBs needs a long run in starting 1, with a regular partner

  11. I read in the local press expectations on the new Arsenal boss aint that high
compared to Moyes tenure.RF left a epl winning team.Let me state here
that the former knew his days of winning the epl regularly were over.
I had watched videos of previous seasons especially in the 2001 to 2008 years
when his rivalry with the fm was at its peak.I say categorically Arsenal were deniedfree kicks/penalties /etc by refs which could have mad e the ref squirm and Arsenal won those matches.Anyway he is history.
As for the new season the Spaniard will be under pressure from the word go.Winning is the
name of the game and the fm shd have been fired ten years ago for his football doctrine of ever passing without shooting and winning .To him football is art.Arsenal are paying for the errors of
    his philosophy.
COYG and beat MC to set a marker. Remember no team is unbeatable especially in the epl.
We all know BM/RM/Barca are 90% odds on to win.I rather watch EPL

  12. Now that we now only one fit left back, why are we not going for any. If reports are true then Fábio Coentrão is available.

  13. The problem with the fm was he liked offensive minded players who forgot how to defend.
Hopefully the Spaniard will instill greater steel in the defence. The fm likes to play pretty soccer weaving intricate patterns with no end result.
Hence he was always beaten by the big teams . I have a sneaky feeling the new boss isa
more pragmatic guy who doesn’t bother about winning 1-0 or parking the bus.
He wont say Messi is unplayable.
He will devise aplan to choke the most dangerous players. Of course it wont work all
    the ime.
Hopefully the new boss would bring about a more winning teams instead of showing stats in Arsenals’favour only to lose. Its better to have one shot at goal and win rather than
plenty/plentiful shots only to lose like in the MU game.

  14. We need height presence in our defence and arsenal should seriously consider Yerry Mina if he is available. Our defence was the biggest problem last season and I think we goofed by signing Sokratis,he is not a solution at all.As for Kolasinac, how I wish we got a better left back to battle with Monreal who is aging but far much better .with what I have seen so far kolasinac is not a defender.
