Still no agreement with Ramsey on Arsenal contract

It looks like the Aaron Ramsey saga is going to ramble on for a long long time, just like Ozil and Sanchez last season. In fact I still believe that he fully intends to leave for free next summer so he can get amassive signing on fee, although according to Charlie Watts, writing in Football London, there is still hope that they can come to an agreement.

He wrote: “In terms of Ramsey, there is still no agreement. But I did hear from someone I trust last week that things were moving in the right direction and that he thought a new deal was not far away – which is a positive.

“I think he will eventually sign, but Arsenal really have given themselves big issues by letting themselves get into this position again.”

To be honest I’ve had enough of all this nonsense and think they should have sold Ramsey this summer without a signature, and we could have given Santi Cazorla a one-year extension instead. Oh if wishes were horses!

  1. He is a good CM, but his energy could be replaced by our young CMs

It’s also good to let some non-exceptional players go, to give space to a winger

  2. I am sure AMN can do a better job in the mid, if he is given chances. I was so gutted when he got injured because I rate him more than any of our current mids. Remember the Man United game where he completely bossed Pogba last season. If Ramsey goes, I would love to see a midfield trio of AMN, Torreira and Guendouzi. That midfield could dominate any team and they are all young

  3. Given what Aaron Ramsey is probably asking, there is better value out there in the market with midfielders better able to play to Emery’s requirements. Also there are players from the U23’s who may thrive given the opportunity.
Arsenal should cut its losses with Ramsey if he refuses to sign the contract on offer. He should them be transfer listed in january and demoted to the reserves until sold. So much for the loyalty Arsenal showed to Ramsey, during his many injury periods.
It will be interesting to see which clubs will step up to meet his wage demands even if he leaves on a free.

    1. don’t even think the chinese clubs would waste their money on this lumbering welsh wizard with 2 left feet … might have gotten a tidy sum a couple of years ago but wenger’s favouritism scotched that one … offer him a tenner a week raise or the front door … no time for this utterly overrated bench warmer

      1. Couldn’t agree more rkw. In fact I wouldn’t offer him anything, put him on the list now so clubs know where we stand in January. Can’t see us getting too many offers for him anyway. If that’s the case, give him away. Ramsey fans will probably disagree and hope we give him £300K a week

        1. Not me Kenny-I’m with you and rkw.Its obviously all about money now.I accept the player is entitled to earn what he can but seriously where will he get game time st any other Top 6 Club?If he’s looking for a free at the end of the season and going to play for Everton then let’s make sure we send him on his way in good health by dumping him from the First Team squad NOW.
Ramsey is not good enough to hold the Club to ransom despite what he and his agent might feel.We need to make a statement to this player and any other who wishes to follow Ramsey’s example by holding out for more than their worth.Decent player but not one who can’t be replaced.

          1. Phil, make you right and you know much I respect your opinion but you know what Phil, I don’t even think he’s a decent player, loses possession, moves breakdown, can’t tackle without getting injured, nothing defensively, and an average goal tally of, would you believe it, 3.6 Premier League goals a season over the last ten tears. Trouble is, he believed all the hype that Wenger had in him. Done a wonderful job Wenger on boosting his confidence, so much so that he now thinks he’s the next Andres Iniesta. We’ve got some very decent youngsters with big futures who I honestly feel could do a better job than Ramsey.

              1. Unfortunately Ramsey has an over inflated opinion of his own ability. As I stated above, I think Ramsey is in for a big shock when he tests the market.

  4. I don’t know why people even stress or care if Ramsey signs or not. I don’t rate the guy at all. He is so average, Henderson of liverpool level.

Never been bothered about him apart from his 2014/15 purple patch.

  5. Either he wants to stay & play for us or he doesn’t! I honestly hope we don’t give in to his demands, he is not worth that kind of money!
Even the Welsh fans moaned about him after the game at the weekend!
I’m sorry but I wouldn’t shed a tear if he goes…tbh I’m not fussed either way

    1. I want him to go Sue, hopefully back to Cardiff City, who’s always been his level, I think he’s holding someone like AMN or a good youngster back.

  6. Arsenal needs to start acting like a big club and stop letting players hold us to ransom especially players of ramsey’s level, he isn’t anywhere near worldclass so why is he earning so much and now asking for more. I honestly think his 120k per week or thereabout is already too much but thats just my opinion. As a top club, if a player is unwilling to sign, sell him when he still has a good value and replace with a better player even if you have to spend more, that will create a culture in the club where all the other players know you can be easily replaced with someone better if you start to think too highly of yourself.

  7. People seem to think he’s asking for too much money, I haven’t heard his demands. Some will say well what he’s on now is too much, they need to get serious. Title winning sides usually have more well rounded players than the others. The Invincibles were chockablock full of rounded players, almost every position could work the opposite end of field of where they’re mainly deployed. We haven’t had many over the latest years, too many were about one main trait. Ramsey is a rounded player, Torriera looks rounded, Lacazette maybe, Monreal you’d have to say he was rounded. The list is short, the best PL teams usually have more of this type than others. Not everyone will see it the same way but its how I see it. Ramsey should not be sold.

  8. I pray Unai Emery look for a better replacement for Ramsey, looks like he’s still hoping for a bigger club to but for him…. Check out footballwest.tv for more football news

  9. He’s overrated in my opinion; stats underwhelming and his defensive stats are poor also. He’s a 10 that can’t dribble, hold the ball, or make good decisions. If he did one of those consistently maybe keep for the bench.

Clearly he’s about the money, no problem its his right. Club should also be about the money, its their right. Sell him for what we can get, domestic cup games only to send proper message.

Emery need only watch 10 years of video to see he’s not midfielder we need. Emery has to grow a pair and show him who’s boss! Bench the welsh diva FFS!
