Sunday Arsenal transfer gossip round up – Anyone you would like?

There has not been much new over the last week in relation to transfer gossip, but as per usual Sunday’s do throw up a few names for us to consider, and it has to be said that today we have a real beauty for you.

Let’s start off with the beauty and it is from the Sun who are claiming that we are interested in signing Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld. The Belgium international will be available for a cut-price £25 Million due to a release clause in his contract, Man Utd and Chelsea are also said to be keen on signing the 30-year-old.

The next one comes courtesy of Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb and they reckon that we want to sign Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi. The 30-year-old Frenchman previously played under Emery at Sevilla where the pair tasted Europa League glory together. A fee of €22 Million has been mentioned. This one has been going on ever since Emery arrived!

Finally, Le10sport, a media outlet from France are claiming that we are looking at activating a buy-back clause for one of our former academy players, Ismael Bennacer. Olympique Lyon and Napoli are also said to be keen on signing the 21-year-old who currently plies his trade with Italian side Empoli.

That is it so far for today and be honest, even if it is unlikely to happen, that Toby Alderweireld piece is just too much, I am off to Twitter to wind up some Spurs fans, they will be apoplectic at this news and that alone has made my Sunday.

  1. …Man United might get Toby because I read somewhere that there is an anti-arsenal clause in his contract and I won’t be surprised if that’s true. But we need more than just a centre back to compete for the title next season.

…. We need a good hardworking midfielder because frankly, Liverpool midfielders aren’t top class but they can pass decently and are very hardworking which has helped them a lot this season.

… Personally, I think a huge chunk of our budget should go in for a deadly left footed winger…..We have two decent strikers and a few players who can play on the left but really no one on that right. This position is very important if we are to succeed next year….
….None of our youngsters are up to it yet in that position not even Nelson who is also right footed. He has the product alright even if it’s from a lower league but he is levels down when you compare with players like Iwobi or Sancho in terms of link-up play.
….A decent centre back, a decent hardworking midfielder and a world-class right-winger; sparing any change left, a left back. If we get this, we can spring up a surprise next season.

    1. Yes, Arsenal badly need a good left footed RW. The squad is imbalance because there are too many right footed attackers

Pepe, Malcom or Neres should be the main target

  2. Ideally it would be nice to get
    1. A top CAM (More consistent than Ozil)
    2. Better replacement for Ramsey
    3. A Top winger or two
    4. Decent, reliable CB
    5. Replacement for Cech

Probably take two seasons to get those

    Also sell Mustafi, Elneny
Release Lichtsteiner, Ramsey is leaving, Cech is leaving

    1. I don’t think we would get another CAM since we already have too many

Bennacer rumor might become true though, because of the activation clause. Or Suarez due to his low price tag

I also don’t think Arsenal would buy another 30+ years old players like Alderweird and N’zonzi, unless they are available under 10 M

  3. Here is my summer strategy…

    Sell
    Mustafi, Mkhitaryan and Elneny

    Release
    Lichtsteiner, Jenkinson, Wilock,

    Buy
    Umtiti, Alaba and James Rodrigues.

    Leno
    Bellerin Sokratis Koscielny Umtiti Kolasinac
    Torreira Alaba
    Rodrigues Ozil Aubameyang
    Lacazette

    1. Hahaha?
      Ok I got little excited…
Take out Rodrigues from starting eleven.

Maybe not buy Rodrigues and invest in upcoming guy that wouldn’t mind start from bench…

Forgot to say release Welbeck as well…

  4. For a left-footed right winger there can be no better bargain than Chukwueze from Villarreal. Get ost Expensive Player in the world.

  5. For a left-footed right winger there can be no better bargain than Chukwueze from Villarreal. Get this guy now before he becomes the next 100M Pounds player. I said the same about Aubameyang when he was available for 10m Pounds before he joined Dortmund and we had to pay 50m pounds plus for an older Auba when we could have gotten much cheaper and younger.

    1. What baffles me is that Chukwueze came to Arsenal same time as Nwakali…but somehow Wenger chose to sign only Nwakali and rejected Chukwueze…
Maybe it was good for the Lad, cos he probably wouldn’t have turned out the way he is right now…but I hope this isn’t another Yaya Toure case..
It’s not late to get him, especially from Villarreal

      1. That’s not true, he tried for both and only one of them came. They were the star players in youth comp and Nwakali won overall player. Also there was a striker can’t remember his name but he advanced his career ahead of both those players the following season.

        1. Both actually arrived at the Emirates… Wenger opted for Nwakali and chose not to sign both…
Chukwueze was disappointed at the time the deal didn’t go through..
I followed that transfer during that period..
I always knew we would regret not getting Chukwueze…
His career has blossomed way more than Nwakali… Nwakali still has a whole lot to do to break into the Arsenal first team

  6. I would love to see J. Moutinhio at Arsenal, a hard worker and experienced
player Mikhi could go the other way ?? Why are there so many ineffective
    players at A. ?

    1. That maybe five years too late my friend. Does anyone knows the average age of the Ajax team. It is so exciting watching a bunch of kids playing matured football.

  7. Elneny will sell fairly readily for£5/8 m, but unless we can unload the likes of Mustafi, Mkh, and perhaps Xhaka we will have a very restricted Budget. In these circumstances I suspect Emery will use his vast experience of the Spanish League to bring in players from lesser lights at relatively modest cost.Personally I would focus on talented young British players such as Tierney of Celtic, Ben Godfrey, Norwich,Dwight McNeil, Burnley or Brookes of Bournemouth. To replace Ramsay who will be a big loss, Doucoure of Watford or Tielemans of Monaco would be ideal but expensive.

  8. Sell
    Ozil- 30m
    Mkhitaryan- 20m
    Mustafi- 20m
    Chambers- 20m
    Elneny-8m
    Jenkins- 4m
    Ospina- 4m
    Approx. Total – 100m

    Top4 finish- at least 30m
    Europa win- at least 30m

Available budget before according to Ornstein- 100m

With those players sale plus exit of welbz, cech, ramsey for free we have freed up more than enough space in the wage bill.

Total available budget after sale, top4 finish= 230m

    Available budget after sale,top4 finish n EL win= 270m

    1. Considering wages these guys are on and in some cases age I believe your transfer fees are completely unrealistic!

Would buy players to complement Ozil but definitely support sale of Mustafi, Mkhitaryan, Chambers, Elneny and Jenkinson.

Will be interesting to see first summer transfer window for which Emery has full input to choices!

  9. BUY
    BIG……….
    CB -Koulibaly/Skriniar/Gimenez- 60m to 80m
    Rotation DM -Partey/Kessie/Ndidi – 30 to 40m
    Rotation RB and LB -Hysaj/Achraf – 30m
    CAM -Isco – 50m to 70m
    RW -Zaha – 40m
    LW- ??? – 20m to 40m

    Total: 270m

    CHEAPER
    CB- Alderweild -25m

Rotation DM -Rabiot (Emery saw him as a DM) -Free
Rotation RB/LB -none, stick with monreal/niles. With kola/bellerin starting.

    CAM- Ziyech – 40m
    RW- Zaha- 40m
LW – Iwobi n Nelson rotation

Total: 105m (165m less than total budget)
