SUPER stats show Arsenal’s £50m Lacazette transfer is TOP value

Of course there will be haters. Arsenal fans are well aware of this and to be fair we are often the first to criticise Arsene Wenger, our club and our players for any perceived flaw, so I would not be surprised to hear some Gooners as well as the fans of our Premier League rivals being negative about the signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for what looks like being an Arsenal transfer record of around £50 million.

People are saying that we have paid too much for a striker who may score goals in the French Ligue 1 but who has not really shone on the international stage and who may struggle in a tougher league, while there are also questions about why Arsenal seemed to be the only real suitor for the Frenchman.

To all the doubters I would simply say, look at the stats. Maybe the French league is easier but the fact that Lacazette has scored more goals there in the last four seasons than any other striker including Edinson Cavani who was in a league of his own when playing in Italy’s Serie A tells you that the new Gunners star is right up there.

The Mirror has reported a list of stats that show just how well Lacazette’s numbers compare with the top players around Europe. These include his fantastic ratio of converting chances and his creating of chances for other players as well, so do not let any negative thoughts about Arsenal’s new forward bother you Gooners.

1. Over the last four seasons, he has scored more Ligue 1 goals than any other player…
2. Last season, only six players across Europe’s top leagues scored more goals than him…
3. In fact, last season, he scored as many goals as Luis Suarez… and two more than Harry Kane…
4. Only Lionel Messi can match his all-round game over the last three years..
5. His finishing is better than that of any current Arsenal forward..
6. He scores more frequently than any current Arsenal forward..
7. Last season, he created more chances than Giroud, Walcott, Welbeck and Perez combined…

Wenger has paid a lot but he has also got a hell of a lot of player for that money.

  1. I actually think he’s very good value in today’s crazy market. Look how much Morata’s going to cost! He’s played for two of the best teams in the world, but doesn’t score anywhere near as much as Lacazette does, and Lacazette plays for a Lyon team, that are not that great anymore.

Lacazette will really suit our style of play as well, because we thrive on pace, and movement, something Giroud just cannot give us.

Need to replace Santi, and Ozil now, and obviously Sanchez, should he go. Do not understand why we haven’t sold any of the deadwood yet? Why is Ramsey still an Arsenal player?

    1. Ramsey has scored the winning goal in 2 FA Cup finals, instant Club legend status regardless of how average and injury prone hes been in both EPL and CL over the years.
If Arsenal is resigned to lose the following players, I think these replacements would be more than suitable.
      Santi—Seri
      Bellerin—Aurier
      Sanchez—L. Mora
      Ozil—Lemar

      1. So scoring 2 goals in the 2 finals make you a legend? So no matter how average he is he shouldn’t be sold coz he scored the winning goals in the final? OG should be legend as well, he assisted those goals, infact OG scores more than Ramsey, so he should be the bigger legend than Ramsey

      2. That’s crazy! You don’t judge a player in the short term, you have to do it over a longer period. He was dreadful last season, bar a few games at the end, he has been awful since the second half of the 13/14 season, and didn’t do a lot before then either. He’s consistently one of the worst performers every week, and we are in real trouble if Wenger is eyeing him as Santi’s replacement.

Even if you only want to use him as a squad player, that’s over 100k p/w for yet another squad player. We really need to start getting rid of the deadwood, and the injury-prone players.

        1. Honestly you need to shut the hell up because you don’t know what you talking about. Ramsey is one of our best players in our squad. Yes I admit he was below par last season but yet again injuries contributed to that. The guy has won us two fa cups with his late goals. I don’t understand why you want to sell one of the best box-box midfielders in the league. There aren’t many better than him in his role. Dembele is honestly just a dribbler. He rarely scores or assists. Gundagon is probably better but he barely kicked a ball last season. Herrera is definitely not better than Ramsey..All he did last season was man mark players and do interceptions. Alli is better than Ramsey but he plays more as a CAM than a box-box midfielder. Yes Ramsey has not played the way he used to play for us back in the 2013/14 season but injuries has always stalled his progress. I honestly believe if he is injury free for most of this season he can replicate his form back in the 2013/14 season or his form from Euros 2016. And stop saying Ramsey must be sold. There are so many players that should be sold before Ramsey such as Gibbs, Jekinson, Debuchy, Elneny, Coquelan, the Ox, Mertascaker and Gabriel. So please just get used to having Ramsey around because I know he is going to won us another title with a winning goal (hopefully the league!)

          1. Seriously you are the one who needs to shut the hell up.how can you say that to a fan just because they had and an opinion .thats what the thumbs up and down buttons are meant for.you dont swear on people just because you dont like their opinion, you thumb them down.you potrayed ramsey like hes one of the best cam in europe ,yet am sure many on this site won’t agree with you but no one swore at you.come one mate learn some manners.

          2. Ramsey is a top player, always played out of position at Arsenal. Makes me think why he is 2nd best for Wales and Arsenal fans slate him when he performs bad playing as a winger, or a CDM. He is neither of them, he needs a free runner role and he thrives in there. You can accuse he is injury prone, but who is not injury prone at Arsenal except Alexis? Finally we found a Ramsey-Xhaka pairing, dont let it go so easily. Seri can come in and play few matches, be a replacement for Santi and a squad player, but I doubt AW will spend 30mil+ to get a squad player.
            Lemar if Alexis goes, Golovin/Goretzka for Santi, Keep Bellerin/Ozil/Ox, and get 2-3 youngsters among Dani Ceballos/Jorge Meré/Jesús Vallejo/Max Meyer/Julian Brandt/Timo Werner/Levin Öztunalı/Mahmoud Dahoud/Jack Grealish/Domenico Berardi/Marco Benassi/Lorenzo Pellegrini/Gelson Martins

          3. Neo Malefane

Mate, are you kidding me? Clearly you do not watch Arsenal enough, because I promise you, Ramsey has been awful for a very long time. He rarely scores, rarely assists, and constantly gives the ball away. He’s also injury prone! I’d prefer Elneny in there to him!

    2. Replace Ozil? ?? The boy’s gonna be rocking this season man, wait and see. He’ll still be here, though I can’t say the same for Sanchez.
Like someone on here rightly stated that Cazorla hasn’t played much for the past two seasons combined (10 games?) he has basically taken Ro-sicky’s place in the squad. As long has Wenger is at Arsenal ? his adopted son Ramsey will be standing in his shadow. As for selling the so called deadwood? .. It’s summer tim mate, peeps are into ice cream & air conditioning man, not fire wood. ?? nah, seriously, they will probably be sold off when the mid table teams start panic buying, in the next few weeks.

    1. Yes you are right, but OG came from the same league as him and he is nowhere near the record of Lacazette, nowhere even when he was there, the most he scored were 21, his all time record in one league.. someone is better when comparing stats

    2. It’s Griezmann, and now Mbappe that keep Lacazette out of the national side, not Giroud.

  2. Obviously some gooners are not really satisfied with the striker we’ve signed in Lacazette just because he was playing in an inferior team/league. Henry played in the League 1 before AFC signed him, Gareth Bale played for Spurs before RM signed him for a huge amount & he didn’t fail them. So what’s all the fuss about?

    1. It’s just far too easy to criticise these days is all, Lacazette could be the player we’ve been waiting for, we’ll provide him with more opportunities to score than he gets at Lyon, and his conversion rate is far superior to that of any of our players, Sanchez included as far as I am aware.

    2. They’ve got this misconceived notion that epl is the strongest league in the world.however no epl team team would rank within Europe’s top five.psg and Monaco did better than most top epl teams top teams last season.even teams like nice, marsel and lyon are churning out stars which alot of top teams are clamouring for.so chill guys ,give our latest gunner a chance.

  3. I know he will score an odd of 20 goals in all competition but this will still leave Arsenal fans screaming for a world class striker. There is no substitute for world class striker but good thing lacazette is versatile.still awaiting for a young striker tall pacy and technical to keep our hopes on .Lemar is next

  4. Sorry mate but you reek of desperation! You have become so delusional with your own thought process, as have loads of you whinning wanabeea out there, you are now quite laughable! Lacazette is no way an improvement on Giroud! He may be younger and his stats suggest that he is a worthy elite marksman but @ £50m, for somebody that is not going to improve the team, you’ve got to be having a laugh. There isn’t anything world class that outlay of cash is going to be bringing in the form of Lacazette. stop being delusional and try thinking for yourself for a change

  5. You missed an important stat.
His number of shots to goal ratio was the highest last season across the top 5 leagues!

    1. I think he signed already.just waiting for formalities.just my opinion though,am claiming ive got a SOURCE at the emirates .

  6. All we’ve asked of Arsene Wenger is to get us an outstanding finisher… And here we about having one. He’ll hit the ground running.

  7. What ever, the enemies are saying, Lacazette is a very good capture for us. He is definitely fit for our playing style. Wenger has already understood and identified this quality earlier.

  8. Lacazette confirmed on arsenal.com, now a new cm to replace santi and it will already be one of the best windows in a while.
