Swansea v Arsenal review – Defeat after leading tells the same old story

Arsenal were given a boost for this Premier League away game with Swansea City before the game had even kicked off. Because the home side had lost one of their first choice centre backs as well as both of their pacy wide men Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge, while the Gunners had just one change from Tuesday and that was Flamini for the injured Arteta.

Even so, Arsene Wenger set his Arsenal side up to be a bit cautious and beware of the quick counter attack. So both teams were fairly tentative at the start, passing the ball around well without creating too much. But it was the home side that started to come out of their shells aftyer about 20 minutes and they started to cause us problems, winning a string of corners and getting crosses in from the flanks.

SWansea wanted a penalty after Chambers was a bit clumsy banging in to the back of Bony but it would have been harsh. But Arsenal did respond and started to get threaten more ourselves, with Ramsey’s fierce shot being deflected a bit unluckily. But the danger of getting fowards was clear as we nearly conceded on the counter with both full backs caught up the pitch.

Welbeck nearly broke the deadlock just before the break after some intricate play around the box by Cazorla and Alexis but former Gunner Fabianski was well positioned to block his shot. And then Ramsey put a volley just wide. And Mertesacker had a free header from a corner on the stroke of halftime but was well off target.

Apart from that though, we had not created much and for once had enjoyed less possession. Maybe playing Alexis and Welbeck almost as a front two left us a bit light in midfield. But we started the second half as we had ended the first, a bit more on the front foot.

But with an hour gone and still no goal, the onus was on the Gunners. With rain sheeting down, Cazorla’s low drive was a good idea but again Fabianski was up to it. And the weather made a slick passing game harder and direct running more dangerous. So it seemed to be crying out for Walcott.

It was our pace that got the opener, Chamberlain picking the ball up and driving foward, finding Welbeck on the right who showed great awareness to cut back and find Alexis who smashed it in. Great goal. But Swansea made a good fightback and pressed forward and pressed us hard, forcing a few mistakes in possession.

One of those led to the breakaway that Gibbs stopped with a foul and from the free kick Sigurdsson produced a stunning equaliser with 15 minutes to go. THere is not much you can do when someone scores a cracker but it was us giving the ball away that put us in that position.

And just as we have done all season, Arsenal’s defence went missing and allowed Montero to cross and Gomis to score again from a free header. On came Walcott and Wilshere with 10 minutes left, but was it too late? Swansea frustrated us and apart from Walcott failing to control a great ball from Wilshere we did not look like scoring.

It was our season so far in miniature and if Wenger does not get us defending better, there are plenty more disappointing days like this ahead.

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      We’re a Depleted” team also dude…

      1. muffdiver says:

how? they were missing there centre back like us!

but also dyer, shelvey and routledge all key players-

        how are we depleted?

        1. henry12 says:

The worst part is that I don’t even know what we need to be good again. A new manager, A new center-back, The old Ramsey. That’s all I can come up with.

          1. juhislihis says:

I didn’t know that Montero is so quick. I did know however that he’s average, nothing special. But I don’t need to know anything about the opposition players because I don’t have a say in who starts for Arsenal.

Our manager is getting paid 8 million a year for doing his job. It’s obvious he didn’t look into the Swansea team, who could they start. Chambers was beaten time after time and thanks to Montero’s poor delivery we were saved. But even when he had gotten 5 times past Calum, it didn’t ring bells in Wengers head.

It’s clear, he isn’t doing his job and we are paying his salary. He needs to take the blame and leave in May.

          2. muffdiver says:

gary monk showed how to use subs to your effect.

monk outhinks wenger? im going home

          3. juhislihis says:

Scary thing is, Wenger’s got 18 years of experience managing at the highest level. Monk’s been a manager for 8 months and tactically beat AW.

Wenger’s massive amount of experience doesn’t count for sh*t and frankly, I don’t know how long it’s been that way.

          4. muffdiver says:

did u see wengers smirk at the end?

hes lost his edge.sad to see our head honcho like this.

          5. ritblitz says:

AW – is now so stubborn and shameless than unless pushed out – he is going to stay there for ever….HOW come his subs are always after 10mts – always reactive never proactive…

fed up of getting my weekends getting spoiled..

          6. Jogon says:

As long as our central midfielders are Ramsey, Wilshere, Flamini, Arteta. We are never going to play good football. Went to the game knowing it was a loss. I completely had no hopes. Right now there is no visionary player, all we do is basic passing and i knew it will not be long before the fans start questioning Ramsey. Now am waiting for Giroud to come back and listen to peoples opinions. Basically nothing more for me talk about, All i see is a bunch of average players

        2. NY_Gunner says:

Our back line is makeshift dude. Wake up…
Ozil, Kos, Debuchy would have helped considerably, don’t you think?

          1. captinweestain says:

Agreed, seeing sanchez at cb made me cry

          2. muffdiver says:

paul merson 2 arsene wenger 1

          3. captinweestain says:

man tears though, not a girlie cry

          4. muffdiver says:

debuchy and kos yes. ozil? remind me how hes been playing before he got injured?

why is monreal played at cb.
why chambers vs montero- speed is required to tackle speed- bellerin ?

if anything is makeshift in defence- why is that- who did we sell ?

come on bro ur smart cant be so stubborn

          5. NY_Gunner says:

You can rant on about who we sold and who we is to blame. But keep in line with where this convo started. It was about depleted teams. Stay on topic…

          6. muffdiver says:

i make points an u call them rants?
maybe invalid to you but belittling my views is hardly fair man.

even if swansea were full strength – we as supposed european elite and title contenders should be winning week in an out- with the odd stumble.not two seasons of poor performances
that is the level i set for my team-
that squad is elite-there are no excuses for wenger

          7. NY_Gunner says:

I have too much respect for you to belittle you dude. We started by talking about depleted teams, not about who we sold and didn’t buy.

You need to pay more attention to the team you supposedly support dude.

          8. IceBergKamp10 says:

& why is it depleted ?
            Sold vermalen,loaned jenko,brought no-one in.
On top of that lack the courage to give either bellerin/hayden a start.
All excuses. We lost cos we are not good enough !

          9. cramer says:

The club has known kos has been struggling with tendonitus for years

Debauchy has always struggled with injury

Why have we not got adequate replacements from them?? It’s not depletion it’s stupidity

As for ozil – it’s one player it’s not dyer rout ledge jonjo shelves and o yes we have millions in the bank, SWANSEA DONT

          10. dilla says:

            All Wenger’s Fault

Chambers is a CB playing as a RB. Monreal is a LB playing as a CB. What the f*ck did we expect was gonna happen!!?? You can’t just slot in players wherever you feel like it and expect it’s gonna work. If Wenger bought a CB and DM none of this would be happening. But now we have to suffer until he finally admits his mistakes. Amazing how our season hangs on the thread of the stubbornness of one man.

          11. Jimbeam says:

@NY why is our backline makeshift? Could it be because we started with ONLY Per and Kos as recognized first team central defenders? In a 50+ game season? who does that? really tell me who does that?

Chambers can become quality one day – but is he ready to be thrown is to the deep end game after game?

Could Bellerin with his speed on the right offer something extra against Montero? It was worth a try as Chambers was way over his head.

Every team has bad games but not every team is set up to have bad games by their manager.

Give 1mm a year to Bould to manage the team and give the 8mm given to Arsene to hungry children in Africa. We would still finish 4th and at the same time save a few lives.

          12. NY_Gunner says:

Doesn’t matter why it’s depleted. The point trying to be made, if you had been keeping up, was we lost to a depleted team, when ours is depleted as well…
            End of…

          13. Jimbeam says:

Our team is depleted because we didnt start the year with enough players. We have the money and the pull to get 99.9% of players in the world but we dont. Swnasea is a different beast – they dont have the money or the pull and have had as many if not more injuries then us.

And by the way – we are the ones who lost not them!!

Our depleted team vs Swans depleted team shouldnt even be a contest.

Maybe you are a mediocre man content with making excuses for loosing – maybe you are the admin trying to sound really really stupid so others engage – Maybe you are just stupid.

            End of…

          14. NY_Gunner says:

Ignorance is a fools tool dude. Our team is depleted due to injury. Just as theirs was…

          15. IceBergKamp10 says:

Did u see there bench & did u see ours ?
Hell even our reserves were better. One of there subs coming on had kit no. in 50’s. What are u going on about ?

          16. NY_Gunner says:

And how many defenders had we on our bench numbnutz?

      2. th14 says:

Wouldnt be such a problem if our specialist in failure didnt go into a season with 6 f*cking defenders

        1. muffdiver says:

monreal vs gomis…i thought david beat goliath….knew i should have paid more attention

      3. archimedes says:

We are depleted because of wenger

    2. Wazzzimbo says:

Poor old Alexis… we are not worthy… ship him off to Madrid or Bayern. Pitiful bunch we are, looked like the players thought we had the game in the bag at 1-0. Don’t really know what Welbeck brings to us at this moment in time, I’ll take Mr Olivier’s shoddy hold up play + defensive capabilities over him any day of the week.

      1. Gooneristic Truth says:

That’s the one person I feel most for… Alexis Sánchez!

        1. muffdiver says:

dont feel too bad – he will leave in the summer if wenger carries on

          1. Wazzzimbo says:

T’will probably be the first time I’ll be happy for a World Class player to leave our team. *Sigh*

      2. Maltese Gooner says:

? I thought Welbeck didn’t have a bad game today.

        1. Wazzzimbo says:

He never has a bad game… just never a good one either (aside from the Gala game). The chance he got should’ve ended up in the net, but he isn’t a presence in our or their box when there is a set piece, so he’s practically useless.

          1. IceBergKamp10 says:

I agree he is not very special, but, i’ll take him over giroud any day. Plz watch the goal we scored again & tell me welbeck didn’t have a part to play.

          2. Wazzzimbo says:

To be honest I was just venting because we lost… he was far from our worst player, our defence (and DM, or lack of it) is to blame along with Wenger’s tactical naivety. Szczesney does nothing for us, we may as well play Martinez for goodness sake.

    3. Gooneristic Truth says:

Under Wenger, we have no more hope! That’s all there’s to it. You can defend him all you want, the truth is, if it really bothers him that the team loses, this Arsenal would’ve been different. If it does bother him, then the problem is he doesn’t know how to solve the problem!

      1. JoJo says:

I’ve never really been ‘Wenger Out’ but even I can see that those who are, really do have a strong case.

      2. ritblitz says:

People must be foolish and deluded who still think AW can bring the trophy back..or even play with some fire or tactics…if plan a fails there is no other plan…

    4. ranger says:

And arsene we are in the league race mentally retarded wenger.someone send him back to france japan where he wants to go please leave the arsenal football club wenger.

    5. rd_gunner says:

The team has gone to the dogs..chambers have been terrorized all day..yet no change in tactics..no one to help him out..ox is clueless on the defensive duties…so poor that it is bordering on humiating..only after they scored the second did we bring on walcott and wilshere else we are as always “Happy to draw”

As far as the players are concerned, they need a wakeup call! apart from sanchez and monreal..every else has been shit..pure shit !

    6. KickAssFan says:

      Wenger we love YOU!!! #InWengerWeTrust

      1. RWRW says:

        1. muffdiver says:

          hes being sarcastic man

        2. NY_Gunner says:

          take your own advice…

      2. Gigi2 says:

as much as i love the man for what he has done, and always tought he deserved a UCL befoe he left-…..i cant really say i trust him anymore.

    7. captinweestain says:

I’ll say the same thing i did last match, no subs were used till the 80th minute.

He will blame the rain, the pitch you watch.
Ive had enough, he’s deluded, no plan b.. even sanchez playing at cb at the end says it all
And bringing on sononoGAOL on reall, CAMBELL!!!!!
      i’m soooooooooo angry
      were done.

      Time for a change.
oh and koss th boss injury setback, so expect more game like this

    8. Grim Bligh says:

Chambers is too big and slow to play RB,he is more suited to CB.
Not even shocked by the loss,if Wenger could play the same eleven whatever the results all year he would do it,the man is over, finished, caputo as a good coach.
We just have to wait the end of this season and if he has any honour he will walk out by himself from his contract.

    9. Disturbance says:

I’d be happy with defeats, as long as they get Wenger the sack. But that will never happen unless he actually dies… Why does it have to be like this ?

      1. Gooneristic Truth says:

…the only reason why I want Arsenal to be defeated is because I want Wenger out. We can do better! Heck lots better than this!

        1. NY_Gunner says:

          @Gooneristic Truth & Disturbance
You 2 and anyone who thinks like you, are some very sad f**kers…

          1. Gooneristic Truth says:

For as long as Arsenal has so-so performances, Wenger will stay! They don’t need him to get to the top on the grass, but certainly want him on top of the club’s money charts. Wins can save his job, but he’s failing at that, @NY_Gunner! If this kind of losing can’t save his job, then we need him to have a worse losing record so he can check out!

      2. davidnz says:

Thats why the club is buying a hit man striker 🙂

    10. captinweestain says:

Sanchez and ox were the only players with fight in them, and gibbs

    11. ab04 says:

Very weak display from chambers and the defence.why can’t Wenger learn to bring in the fresh legs a little early instead of waiting Till 80 minute…. really ruined my weekend!
Let’s hope after the break arsenal can get on a good run of winning games!!

    12. mula1 says:

Honestly i think Arsenal FC needs to look in a different direction for a manager. I was watching the match and everything looked really boring. No invention, no urgency, no beautiful beautiful arsenal, the players where passing the ball around with no real intention. They are only there to play, enjoy their selves, after all the manager will defend them or himself. Monreal will never be our solution at central back and i think with the runs of games he’s had, Bellerin would have improved greatly at RB. Chamber and Mert would have been a more solid pairing. Mr Wenger to me is well and contended with what he has won and just taking time there till he retires. After loosing a 3 goal lead because they thought they had won, did they think the same again at 1-0? Jeez! this got me mad i thought it was raining where i am and i feel too cold to even talk or move. I wish i could express my anger at Wenger right now… Sick Sick Sick him!!!! ARRRGH!!!! ffs! why hurt the fans like this ???

    13. th14 says:

How many points has our specialist in failures decision to not buy a CB or DM cost us so far??
This is what happens when theres no pressure from upstairs to win if wenger was in mourinhos position (win the league or ucl or get sacked) theres no way he wouldnt have bought a DM or let the manolas deal fall through over a measly £3mill.

    14. galaxygooner says:

Years of under investment and asset stripping is coming home to bite.
      Anyone remember
      1 pascal cygan
2 last year’s man with the broken back
      3 denilson
      4 Bendthner
      5 djorou
      6 senderos

Mertesacker makes senderos look world class.
Every striker in the league must be marking when they will be playing against arsenal.

    15. goldfish27 says:

Wenger has lost it long ago…where are his supporter(AKB)…wenger has turned Arsenal to an average club….WENGER OUT

    16. gmv8 says:

We can’t be too tough on Chambers – he’s a 19 year old, playing at a new club in the wrong position – difficult to see how it could get more difficult for him,

  2. Sacrificial_Pizza says:

I like how this was up before the game was even over, what an awful “supporters” site this is haha

    1. Truth Hurts says:

Maybe the people over here are realist and could see what was going to happen a
when Swansea scored the second and our manager was still sitting on his a## biting his nails

    2. juhislihis says:

This kind of result was in the air before the match even started you tool. It’s Wenger with his decade old tactics, what you expect?

    3. RSH says:

maybe your stream or whatever is slow. But even when late equalisers or winners are scored, this site has an article up about a minute later. Don’t know how, but they get it done.

      1. Sacrificial_Pizza says:

It’s not rocket science. They have 2 baboons hammer out 2 dumb articles. One says ARSENAL WIN, WONGER IS GEENYUS, and the other one writes this. However it turns out that article goes up. It’s weird that I have to explain that haha.

I would have loved to get a screenshot of this article if Wilshire would have maybe hit that late equaliser haha

        1. RSH says:

well then why are you complaining?

  3. Mick The Gooner says:

That must have been what? The 19th headed goal we’ve conceded this season?

    1. Gooneristic Truth says:

…and how did Chambers have to be in the game before he committed the costly mistake? Wenger is one worthless clunk! I’m way past pissssed!!!

      1. galaxygooner says:

Wenger should have shored things up once we were 1- nil up.
Remove ox , bring on Walcott
Remove cazorla , bring on wilshere
Remove welbeck, bring on bellerin to assist chambers
welbeck : defensive , midfield, counter duties
Sanchez : mentality change to defensive and counter
        Walcott : counter duties

The whole team : harassment ,break up play duties.

  5. Dan.M says:

We look a better counter attacking team yet Wenger stil makes us play this slow lethargic side to side passing football

Does he even manage the players? They all look clueless and play as individuals

    1. Gooneristic Truth says:

I’m waiting for the interview when Arsene Wenger will tell the public that he’s resigned from Arsenal FC! It’ll be a while, but I’ll wait!

  6. nicolaile says:

Wenger Out? Defence was shocking again

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

I’m not mad about the Gibbs foul or the Swansea FK. I’m mad about how our midfield lost the ball in the middle so carelessly. There were so many ways to prevent that from happening.

Second goal, defense was poor. But what else was new?

      1. juhislihis says:

        @Mesut Ogrrillz

Spot on, Gibbs did exactly what he was supposed to. Tactical foul. However how it got to that was a mistake of failed dribbling when it was completely unnecessary. Think Cazorla and Oxlade lost the possession there.

  8. Adienl says:

    Just one reaction.

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

Lol we’ve gone from being pissed about our games to laughing about our games.

Said before the match I wasn’t confident at all about this one, got thumbed down big time.

Wenger lost this match once again for us. Substitutes after we’ve gone behind, starts Chambers against a pacy player – didn’t even bother to study Swansea’s lineup.

    Get out you idiot.

    1. Gooneristic Truth says:

He never bothers to study the enemy… not once! “If we play our game, we’ll be okay,” says he… Fukk no, we won’t! Do your homework on the enemy! This is just embarrassing!

      International Break ?

  20. reddb10 says:

its not a players fault if he cant cut the mustard in the PL. it is the fault of the deluded manager who puts his ego before the club and counts on mediocrity.

    1. AlmiR says:

perfect comment, this team concided 4 days ago 3 goals and he again started same team, LOL Wenger is the boss, sticking his middle finger to everyone, he wont get fired no matter what, this will happened for 3 years more, so preapare not even Ronaldo would do better in this side, respect to sanchez great player !!!

  21. BarazaAFC says:

Our defense reminds me of…….no nothing matches to the dreadfullness that’s our backline

    1. IceBergKamp10 says:

      Lol ! Awesome Dude.
Dats the best comment i’ve read on this thread.

  22. Brendan says:

Were just awful. At least last season it was mainly the top four teams we struggled against, this season we have yet to be beat a top 14 team (only wins came against bottom 6 teams!!)

And how many corners do we have to get to score from one? We win about 10 corners a game and waste every single one.

Defence was crap, but attack shouldn’t escape the blame either.

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

Sanchez kicked some lethal balls into the 18. I wish he could take our corners and still be on the receiving end.

      1. davidnz says:

        Ha ha brilliant 🙂

      2. Brendan says:

The deliveries aren’t that bad, its just theres mostly no one in near or no aerial presence. Don’t understand why Wenger does nothing to fix this year in year out

        1. Mesut O-grillz says:

we are absolutely useless from set pieces. We go in thinking that something good is gonna happen and it never does. Never.

        2. Jogon says:

its because all the players are short and cant jump even 1 inch up

    2. vijaygunner says:

    3. HA559 says:

The one time Mertesacker wasn’t on the near post for a flick, he almost scored, but header went wide.

  23. Matt says:

Same old story every season, never ever beating the other top teams, poor defending, endless injuries, Wenger’s incompetence, the players not showing enough fight, silly mistakes, no leaders, clueless manager, shit medical staff, 12 points behind Chelsea, 8 points off Southampton, yes that’s right, Southampton.

  24. Mesut O-grillz says:

    We f*cking suck.

Give Sanchez the man of the year award and let’s call it a night.

  25. Twig says:

We’re not winning games due to our inactivity during the Summer transfer window 🙁

    1. AlmiR says:

LOL, we are not winning cuz we are bad, who playes 1.60 m monreal against bony 1.90 haha, wenger destroyed ozil probably will do the same to sanchez

  26. Truth Hurts says:

    F##k wenger and his d##kriders

    1. IceBergKamp10 says:

      Did u mean Darkriders ?

  27. ranger says:

    save arsenal from arsene
this man now is destroying our club
mert is club captain(biggest lol for our club)
santi who cant deliver single corner ball
chambers young lad future of arsenal (hahaaaaaaaa

  28. cramer says:

What does wenger do?? He needs to go, it’s embarrassing. It will make Sanchez question the point in playing so well. Our defence are clueless and our midfield don’t link at all.

  29. Greg says:

    Im fed up of wenger!

  30. Mesut O-grillz says:

This was our chance to distance ourselves from the rest of the table and we f*cking couldn’t. We f*cking couldn’t.

  31. Truth Hurts says:

This team is one big p###y waiting to get f####d

  32. davidnz says:

We can still win the league 🙂

      1. muffdiver says:

        hes right its mathematically possible!!!

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

I really like your new attitude, it must be really calm you down.

    2. IceBergKamp10 says:

& that smiley face at the end.really killed it.
      you are good.

  33. Rockylegendliveson says:

The smile by Wenger at the end said it all. He no longer has the drive to win. He thought about leaving at the end of last year. Honestly he should have as he is past it. Tactics, selection, transfers and getting the best out of players are all a problem. I was lambasted for complaining about him sun bathing and playing foot volley on Rio beach. It’s clear the desire to succeed has left him and the players sense it. Its long over due for a fresh approach.

  34. RSH says:

What I dont understand is what the hell Wenger’s plan was even if he didnt buy a Vermaelen replacement. He hasn’t even attempted to use any of our academy players for CB. Monreal can barley play LB well, so why is he at CB? Ughhh so clueless, so past it. I barley get frustrated anymore because I’m just used to not winning. Thank goodness most of the other teams around us are playing horribly as well. Next up is Man Utd. We haven’t won against them since 2011. More points shall be dropped.

  35. Mesut O-grillz says:

How many times is Sanchez gonna score for us just to see his team let in equalizer(s) or lose?

We need to stop celebrating leads. We don’t know how to keep them.

  36. Matt says:

We’ve got Man United in two weeks, now we never ever ever beat Man U, the last time we beat them was what, 4 seasons ago? Something rediculous like that. We should beat them we just never do, every beat them last season but not us, because our players are scared of them, the mental block is still there. If we don’t win against Man U, Wenger needs to go, it will conclude my mind that he cannot motivate the players for the top games, it’s not acceptable.

  37. DANDY GUNNER says:

O My God how low Arsenal have gone under Wenger’s clueless philosophy. Chambers was battered everyone could see this and Wenger and the so called defence coach Bould did nothing to protect him. The Pair of them must be sacked before they destroy Arsenal FC.
    Wenger and Bould out NOW.

  38. vijaygunner says:

f**k this season!!! oh and f**k you wenger f************k you!!!!

    1. IceBergKamp10 says:

      Bhai !!! Chill !

  39. nyc says:

Worst start to a season. Gained 17 points, dropped 16. Chelsea are 12 yes 12 points ahead and its just the start of November. Another 4th place cat fight this season. Refusing to spend where needed. No CB cover. A lb is playing there in the 4th richest club in the world. No dmf. Makeshift players playing there. 180m in the bank and the highest ticket prices in world football and in return we are tortured with this crap.

    1. No10 says:

Well summed up, only at Arsenal would you ever see that mess. We absolutely need a CB and DM in January, Mertesacker, Flamini deserve to be dropped and that’s only the start with Podolski, Arteta, Diaby, Monreal to follow and Wilshere/Ramsey to be seriously under scrutiny.

  40. John Legend says:

Waiting to hear from the liar and cunny one himself, Arsene.
When will our fans stand up against this mediocrity. I blame the fans more.

We concede the same kinda goal every other match, so annoying.

I can’t believe some people still trust Wenger to lead us to glory again.

Alexis must be very frustrated now.

    1. ritblitz says:

Alexis is frustrated now … it is sad to see him drop all the way down to try and send a quality pass in the box in the last few mts…bcoz he know there is no one there in the middle who can deliver a good pass..
sad to see him under AW..

  41. ThirdManJW says:

As soon as I saw the line up I knew we’d lose. Wenger obviously learnt not a single thing from our previous game. Three players starting out of position again, fresh legs on once we’re losing, and how on earth are Santi and Ramsey still starting games?

Some of Wenger’s decisions are just insane!

  42. Matt says:

    Wenger out, Diego Simeone in.

    1. muffdiver says:

why would he leave champions like athletico-

      dream on!!

        1. muffdiver says:

it does which is why we missed out on-

          hazard, khedira, suarez etc

simeone will go elsewhere- believe me

    2. IceBergKamp10 says:

At this point even Bould as interim manager could do better job.
Think about it we already seem to run on auto-pilot.

  43. wenger will still say ,,,we are still in the title race

    1. RSH says:

      *race for 4th place

    2. IceBergKamp10 says:

      Yes.Yes.Yes we are….
      Wahahahahahaha…….I m d king.

  44. GOONSTER says:

What can I say… Same old rubbish, very late substitutions to affect the game. No tactics. Whenever we come up against any half decent team that has quick players and can keep the ball we look like championship players..

  45. Brada b says:

#FACK AW #FACK AW #FACK AW #brainless # clueless & who ever thumb me down #FACK u 2!! That man have to go Arsenal club iz going down hill its being crippled by thar old fart #AW wtf iz really going on !!!

    1. IceBergKamp10 says:

What the hell is FACK ?

  46. Gigi2 says:

Ok, so…at the end of the season we re losing Alexis, thats for sure.
And maybeone fan…this is just too painful…
For the momento I am oficially pissed (and I havent seen the game) at Wenger. It cant be that our players are too bad, and of so, he picked them.
This loss leaves us in a very very bad position.
The board should be worried about losing fans (ticket and t shirts sales etc)….

  47. Zulu-boy-SA says:

Arsene Wenger’s fault for selling Vermaelen, loaning out Jenkinson, playing Monreal at CB against big strikers.

  48. nyc says:

The board is licking their lips at the prospect of selling Sanchez for 50m plus next season. That’s what the sad part is. At arsenal the football always comes second. This has to be wengers last season at arsenal.

  49. royalman says:

Chamber lack pace, bellerin would hv been better in dis game, dat guy dribble hell out of chamber. Wenger lack defensive football.

  50. NY_Gunner says:

  51. sam-afc says:

Lethargic performance. I think fabianski had one proper shot to stop from welbeck. We’re not creating enough nor doing enough to win games.

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

because we don’t know what we are doing. Not to mention our inability to score from FKs. A lot of our goals comes from counters, Wenger should somehow make those more effective.

      1. vijaygunner says:

forget freekicks we can’t even convert a bloody corner and we get like 10 corners a game.

        1. Mesut O-grillz says:

          Corner tricks.

We trick our opponents into thinking that we are gonna score, but in reality we are just giving them opportunities to practice defending them.

        2. RSH says:

thats because Cazorla takes most of our corners and he’s terrible at em. We maybe only had one dangerous cross in.

  52. Leroy says:

If i here Wenger defending his defence still after another poor defensive display im going to go crazy, Monreal is not good enough to even play for us in his favoured position never mind as a CB!

Only Sanchez, Chamberlain and Welbeck who actually shown some desire!

    Most frustrating team!

  53. Greg says:

Its time for ospina to take over the no 1 shirt!

    1. juhislihis says:

      Time? He’s out til January.

Yes, we bought an already injured player again.

  54. Matt says:

Sanchez has come from playing with Xavi, Iniesta, Pique to Monreal, Mertesaker, Flamini, I feel for him.

  55. seatofthesoul says:

Why persist with Per and Nacho as CBs? Chambers has openly said he feels more comfortable at CB, so play him there and play Bellerin RB – their second goal was caused by two things, 1. Chambers couldn’t keep up with Montero (Bellerin would have) and 2. Nacho was beaten too easily by Gomis (Chambers would have been a better match). I just don’t understand it, another ridiculous finish at a game. No one a part from Chelski or Southampton are worthy of even challenging for the title. Us, City, Pool and Utd are all joke clubs at the minute.

  56. rc93 says:

I will continue to support the team but I can no longer support the manager

  57. GOONSTER says:

Now we can see why Kossy is so important. Mertesacker is a joke, he is never anywhere near when any crosses. Why was Monreal always with Gomis while our so called dominant CB is taking his usual walk about?

I seriously don’t know where we are going..

  58. GOONSTER says:

What does Mertesacker give us in defense? Flamini is all mouth and pointing instead of defending..

  59. Leroy says:

Why does it take us to be losing for Wenger to make a change?

    1. Mesut O-grillz says:

you’re right, it doesn’t make any sense. Then again, he doesn’t make any sense.

  60. Greg says:

Wenger is just clueless! Im just lost for words with him!

  61. Mick The Gooner says:

This is what I posted before the game:

‘I think we’ll see Chambers at centre back today. Swansea play with a lot of pace out wide – Chambers isn’t very quick, it’d be a mismatch if he played fullback. Bellerin however is as quick as any.
Bony is very strong, Monreal isn’t, Chambers is a much better match.’

I just cannot understand Wenger’s logic. I just have absolutely no idea what he was thinking, if he was thinking at all. I mean, to even look at Monreal and think he can play at centre back is clueless, let alone actually starting him there in a premier league game.. Can anyone please explain it to me?

    1. captinweestain says:

      No sorry i can’t, i’m puzzled.
The only thing i can come up with is wenger is trying to get the sack

  62. nyc says:

Last 2 seasons’ player of the year were cazorla and Ramsey respectively. Both have lost their form badly. I am afraid this year’s player of the season which is Sanchez already, will leave. He is only 25 and is the kind of ambitious player who always look to take the next step. At arsenal he is wasting his talents. No other player can match his skills desire stamina commitment or work rate. He will soon be getting a back injury for carrying this hopeless and clueless team and manager on his back.

  63. mike1977 says:

Mourinho must be laughing his head off at how crap the so-called title contenders are to his Chelsea team. No management of the team whatsoever. Time for Wenger to go. I’m sure the deluded fans will stay say he’s the right man for the job lmao.

  64. captinweestain says:

Ive not seen arsenal play this bad since… i can’t remember
Wenger you have destroyed my weekend again, i knew i shouldn’t have watched this hungover.

  65. GOONSTER says:

Ramsey’s fluke season covered over the cracks…He is back to his old self…

  66. Big Gun says:

Not even shocked or surprised anymore that we can be leading and then concede 2 or 3 goals.
    The depressing has kicked in…

    1. Big Gun says:

as for our defense, we are absolute sh*te without Kossie.

  67. Sacrificial_Pizza says:

Funny, I haven’t seen many “WONGER OUT, We ned Klopp he gud couch” recently. What’s the matter, now that Klopp has essentially became Wenger like I’ve been telling you idiots all along you don’t want him??

    1. juhislihis says:

He’s a great manager having a really bad season. They won the league like 2 years ago? And featured in the Champions League final 18 months ago. He’s nothing like Wenger, you tool.

Yeah, still want him but face it: what’s the point of saying “Wenger out” when it’s clear Arsenal FC won’t sack a manager, never mind during the season.

      1. Sacrificial_Pizza says:

He’s nothing like Wenger? You watch a lot of Dortmund?? I’ll assume not, you just know the headlines. As a lifelong Dortmund and Arsenal fan I will tell you without a doubt our 2 managers are like Father and Son. Too stuck in their ways to change a lineup, will never bench a struggling player. VERY odd sub selection. But I guess you’ve been following him since he brought Mainz up to the Bundesliga as well, and already knew all of that. Sorry to insult your intelligence.

        1. Sacrificial_Pizza says:

NOT TO MENTION. Klopp has done pretty awful in the Transfer Market replacing GLARING holes. Reminds me of someone else……….

        2. juhislihis says:

I care sh*t about if he plays struggling players, that’s not the main problem for us.

I follow Bundesliga and BVB whenever I can. ‘Lifelong fans’ like you probably didn’t find a single fault at Klopp’s managerial style until this season when it’s going badly. But now you’re jumping the gun as their season is plummeting. Well Arsenal has been plummeting for years, being out of the title race in November.

Klopp has single-handedly lifted BVB to fight for the title. The trophies prove it. If he reminds of Wenger, then he reminds the Wenger of 96-05, not the current one. Klopp got passion and tactics. Even their injury-ravaged team in their worst season for years beat EASILY us, what does it tell you about Wenger?

Oh and what goes for transfer window, I think he’s done pretty well given the funds available for BVB. Isn’t Mkhitaryan their most expensive transfer of all time, £22 million? Reminds me of our time when Arshavin was our most expensive. So I would assume BVB can’t afford to buy players like Sanchez or Özil. What glaring holes are you referring to? Lewandowski?

        3. IceBergKamp10 says:

I agree. Klopp is no better when it comes to flexibility. I’ll rather see some new name.

    2. davidnz says:

Gotta be brave to be singing
      Wengers praises right now
      Fair play to you.

  68. Pythagoras( but you can call me pi) says:

Arsenal can still win the league

    1. sam-afc says:

      Hahaha that cheered me up

  69. Matt says:

No doubt Wenger’s press conference will be him talking a load of b*llocks about how we showed spirit but it was not enough and how Sanogo is a world class player and how Diaby will be back soon when he won’t. The man is deluded, I’d respect him so much more if he just came out and admitted something is wrong, that the mentality isn’t there and spoke sense instead of deluded bullshit.

    1. mike1977 says:

      Spot on, my man!!

  70. gamer says:

cant wait to hear Mr dictators excuses this time. just announce your retirement at the end of the season already and you will not go down as a legend because frankly you have been a failure , 2 league titles in 18 years is nothing to be proud about

  71. Arsenal Fan says:

Arsene is still the right man for me. Ability to bring in Sanchez Özil and develop the Walcotts Ramsay. Develop a system that when working is at times unplayable.
Defensively though changes need to be made!!
Wenger is right for me, the defence isn’t. Need to replace both CB, GK

    1. RSH says:

When working is unplayable? You mean one in every 50 games? The Invincibles Era ended a decade ago mate, wake up!!

    2. Jimbeam says:

@ Arsenal Fan, I am speechless at your inability to grasp the reality.

Wenger has been at Arsenal for 17 years he has bought and sold every single player on the team. The best he has ever done with a squad that was completely built by him is 4th place.

Sanchez and Ozil would have come to Arsenal with Klopp or Simeone or pretty much any other successful European manager.

He started the season with 2 senior CDs. Nuff said.

    3. gamer says:

ahhhhh this season has been a disaster nightmare!!! im soo fed up i just wana stop watching football . i hate mourinho but i know for a fact had he been our manager right now he would no how to use these players we have. call me a farce but surely monreal at rb with chambers in the centre is better than monreal at cb with chambers rb

    4. Sacrificial_Pizza says:

Forget the plastics. They don’t understand anything. If we had a good replacement I would be OK with Wenger stepping down, but for right now, this season. He’s still the best person to roll us into the end of the season

    5. NY_Gunner says:

      @Arsenal Fan
      So right…

  72. HA559 says:

Jaded and concentration maybe two words you will hear post match from Wenger.

  73. fred cowardly says:

These very late substitutions is ridiculous. He likes to substitute when he is desperate. If certain players aren’t performing in the first half you substitute them early in the second half or you make tactical changes early.

  74. mr lean says:

Do you know what the most annoying thing about tonight is ? No not the result but all the AKB ‘ s making excuses for and defending le fraud (Wenger )

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @mr lean
Whats even sadder, is you and your ilk out here ranting like it’s gonna matter…

  75. Greg says:

Poor alexis i feel so sorry for him, giving it your all only to be disappointed by your teamates!

  76. Abhirup says:

Today is Remembrance Day and AW is like Douglas Haig-The Donkey. Go over the top be slaughtered …go over the top be slaughtered… go over the top be slaughtered. Same team same result same team same result…why can’t Rosikcy play instead of Carzola? Who is shit. Why does Callum have to play at RB and get skinned by Montero and get no protection? Why Monreal at CB? Why? YAYA with Podosky on the bench???. Same starting 11 which has been shit for last fortnight? Is this AW crazy what? Why doesnt he just leave? Will we need a Rommel just to drive this hard nosed French Fool into the sea?

  77. Jimbeam says:

  78. RWRW says:

  79. Arsenalover says:

Now Stoke is playing more beautiful games than us

  80. nyc says:

The biggest example.of being tactically clueless. 90th min and you bring on yaya sanogo instead of LUKAS PODOSLKI. Sanogo who has kicked a ball for 3 months due to injury and who hasn’t even scored a goal for arsenal is being preferred over podolski. If any media pundit points this out, Wenger will not even have a place to hide. Such is that blunder.

    1. davidnz says:

      Ouch !!!

  81. Ks-Gunner says:

Look at the Akb’s again people, look at them how they speak. Instead of admiting that we have lost, and admiting that Chambers got murdered on the rb poz, that we were doing lncorrect and late subs, and that we are using wrong players at wrong poz, the akb’s come up with things like:

Nevermind that we have lost, we have injuries. Or, the rain was to heavy, or Wenger had diarrhea last night and could not think straight in this match. This and that.

In Arsene we trust simple makes no sense anymore. Even the most loyal Akb zombie, should start to doubt him at this point. If not, go F. your selfs.

    1. 5th Gen Gooner says:

Don’t forget the FA no doubt hired a rain-dancer before the game who was paid for by the press. You gotta love the AKB/BABA crew, they must wear Zaphod Beeblebrox glasses. Now where can I get a pair of those? LOL!

    2. NY_Gunner says:

      @ks-gunner & 5th gen gooner
You muppets starting to feel the weight of your impotency? LMFAO

  82. wibble says:

We normally have a good half a season. So if from Jan 2015 to May 2015 and Aug 2015 to Dec 2015 we have a good run of BPL results, we can claim the statistic of getting the most points in the calendar year again just like in 2013 🙂

Surely that’s just like winning the BPL, is it not.

  83. Mick The Gooner says:

Well there was an article earlier about us buying Hummels in January.
    Hummels £30m
    Krychowiak £15m
    Total: £45m

    Podolski £12m

    Net spend: £33m
Hummels is 25, Krychowiak 24. We already have a very young squad. We would be set for years. No need to spend big again for a while.

    1. davidnz says:

Might as well battle on to get 4th.
In the summer have a clean out.
Is 4th place Arsenal an attractive
      destination for the worlds best?
Ozil is clearly unhappy and after today
Sanchez is probably starting to wonder.

      1. Mick The Gooner says:

I don’t think we need a complete clear out. I just think we need a DM and CB urgently, then we’d have a very good starting 11
        Debuchy Hummels Koscielny Gibbs
        Krychowiak Ramsey
        Walcott Özil Alexis

        Not bad is it?

I think we should get a better striker too, but with Alexis, Walcott and Özil, it’s less urgent than a CB and DM.

    2. john0711 says:

Nice kick but I don’t think its enough

    3. ritblitz says:

    4. muffdiver says:

do u not know how wenger operates?
      bloody hell come on man

ur lucky if kim kallstroms brother boris comes in

  84. mr lean says:

We win football playing the same way but we still lose playing the same way.no plan b no recruitment in positions we need and no chance of Wenger leaving time for alcohol !

  85. 5th Gen Gooner says:

Think Arsene relies way too much on remembrance. Bring back George Graham, at least he knew how to defend a lead and won 2 trophies Arsene hasn’t in his 18 years – League cup and a European cup albeit the Cup Winners!

  86. lol2304 says:

  87. mike1977 says:

So funny to hear Wenger’s excuses after every game we drop points. We hear the same guff all the time, “we will learn from this”, “this will make us mentally stronger for the next game” blah blah sodding blah. Wenger is absolutely ruining this team/club. If Wenger was in charge of Chelsea they would end up way down the league because of him. How many more years will the dumbfcuk WKB brigade take of this mediocrity???????

  88. john0711 says:

Guys you don’t have to be a top manager to see
    Monreal isn’t a CB
    Mert is hiding –
Ramsey should be benched and earn his shirt
Flamini is a nice guy but past it
    Chaimbo didn’t help,chambers once
    Corzola isn’t a left mid
    We are short in DM
    And short at CB

    1. 5th Gen Gooner says:

      Urm Mickey Mouse? LOL!

      1. mike1977 says:

I’d take Mickey Mouse as our manager right now to be fair.

Yep and Donald Duck as our assistant coach and Pluto as our physio!

          1. 5th Gen Gooner says:

I keep reading ‘How will Arsenal find a replacement for Wenger?’ Well Southampton lost their manager and half their team (which did extremely well last season) and have come back stronger than ever. Wenger is not only replaceable but we could come back looking like the Arsenal we used to love!

  89. Ks-Gunner says:

At this moment, i only feel proud when i see Jack Wilsher and Sanchez play. The fact that i see them fight with all they have makes me feel joy to watch them.

The current Arsenal team, is a team full of Pu$ssys, i am not only Angry at the manager, but also at our players.

Manures 4th choice Striker becomes our main Striker. WTF
    Monreal players Cb. Wtf.
    Cahmbers plays Rb. Wtf
An Aged Mertesacker who is the slowest defender i have seen players first team football and that in a leauge where every god damned team has speed stars.
A Sunny boy in Ramseys who things that he is better then Modric or Bale. Facking selifsh big head.
    Where is Ospina good damned.
What for do we have Bould around.

Why does our manager earn 8m a year when is an inferiour manager to others. A 4th place manager should never have that kind of money and power in the team.

Without Dain and our former legends who played in a free role, who managed moral and form them selfs in the team, Wenger would be a nothing.

Arsene and board out. Usmanov and whatever manager in.

    1. 5th Gen Gooner says:

Zonal marking has never worked for us but Bould still goes for it. Why don’t we just play the simple ‘tall guy marks the tall guy’ and ‘keep tabs on the quick bu@@ers’?

      1. muffdiver says:

shouldnt use the word why when it comes to wenger…will be here a longg time

      2. Ks-Gunner says:

Its impossible. Our players are to weak in winning the ball back that we are forced to play this way. For example Kos can beat anyone, but everyone can beat Merti.

  90. truegunner12 says:

Yesterday I read an article stating Arsenal have to believe in winning the title and a fan said he saw nothing special about Chelsea and that we can overtake them. Apparently he hasn’t been watching Arsenal this season. You know what the difference between a manager like Mourinho or Ferguson is, tactical astuteness. In the season of 2011 2012 when United won the title they were fired there by goals from Robin Van Persie. Why did Ferguson get Robin Van Persie? because they lost the title on goal difference. Chelsea are 12 points ahead of Arsenal because they keep winning. The difference between this season and last? Mourinho identified their weaknesses, they got Fabregas to create chances and strikers to put th3 ball in the net. You see the results.

Arsenal have been crying out for a DM for seasons, what happened today? Gibbs had to track back to make a tackle in the middle of midfield where the DM should have been. Montero who was pretty much destroying Chambers the whole night got past him again and omis beat 6 defenders in the air for us to concede yet another headed goal. 90 minutes and absolutely no instructions were given to assist Chambers. That is poor reading ofg th3 game.

Hate Mourinho all you want but he is a world class manager and until he changes his ways we will suffer

    1. 5th Gen Gooner says:

Yep I hate the ego on Mourinho but he’s got Wenger in his pocket. Can’t fault his record but it’s easy with Wenger. Beginning to think Wenger really is a specialist in failure!

    2. Ks-Gunner says:

That srry ass blind fool @Gooner said that. I was also speachles that for i remembered this comment aswell.

  91. mr lean says:

Still on the bright side we will go on an unbeaten run for the next two weeks ! Lol

  92. mike1977 says:

If we are being honest about who is good enough to be in the Arsenal starting 11 right now i’d say Sanchez that’s all. Gibbs is average but can sometimes be quality,Monreal ain’t a CB, Mert is crap, Chambers has heart but is making too many mistakes at present, Flamini also has heart but is nowhere near good enough, Ramsey, it just ain’t happening for him at the moment, Cazorla is too inconsistent, Sanchez is world class, Ox isn’t as good as Walcott for starting 11 place, Welbeck is either off form or rubbish. It would be nice to think that someone chose which players we had at the club and also who gives them their instructions, if any.

    1. 5th Gen Gooner says:

You know I actually can’t offer an answer that!

  93. tselby1 says:

    Blame Wenger for;

    1) Tactics – always leaving subs till 80mins when his forced in to it despite the need for changes. Chambers was getting roasted all game and needed to bring bellerin on to counter that. Ramsey not effective all game and looking tired at 70mins plus could of done with fresh legs hence the open space in the middle for barrow to run in to which led to Gibbs giving the free kick away for the 1st goal!!

    2) Not buying a solid cb – Monreal is not a cb and showed again today easily beaten in the air for the winner. Surely the bigger chambers would of dealt with that better and put in bellerin at rb!! Also the slow BFG causing us problems every game with his lack of pace. Even his aerial ability which should be his strength he can’t do right getting beat in midweek for the equaliser and beat in the air for the goal at hull!!

Only have 1 decent cb Kos and he is out for a few more weeks!

It was clear during transfer window we needed 1 or 2 cb and we got………0!!

  94. chenrob2 says:

Clueless, Arsene Wenger is clueless. So pitiful I can’t even laugh. Against Anderlecht we were terrorized down our right side and Wenger goes and put Chambers in that situation again. Montero had his ticket from minute 1 and Wenger made no move to change it up. Montero just simply went down the outside of Chambers and then crossed the ball, can’t help but think that a speedier Bellerin would have feared better, with Chambers as CB or CDM. If everyone can see it I wonder what Wenger is looking at.

  95. archimedes says:

A great manager knows when to stay and when to resign. Watch pep guardiola with barcelona and ferguson. Wenger needs to go. Arsenal neednew Idea. Wenger need a new challenge.

  96. eljah says:

“in Arsene we Trust” becomes “in Arsene we Rust”. pls wenger we know you tried your best to help arsenal and its not clearly working. Give the chance for young and energetic coaches. We need our glorious days back!

  97. kamn288 says:

it has to be said arsene should have made a defensive change brought on some tall player to just alleviate the pressure instead brings sanogo on who fouls on the minute he comes-on, title challenge was viable when the lead was 9 points and now it is mere impossible so we can safely say that arsene has ruined another year of winning the league.

  98. Izuchukwu says:

I took Mourinho one season only to rebuild a Chelsea team that fell short in his absence. He asked those that should go to go. He retired those that should retire. We are in the ninth year under Wenger, speaking grammar game after game…using Arsenal money to service welfare funds for crocked players….so its only in Arsenal you have players like Diaby whose career now is granting interviews, its only in Arsenal Arteta gets old and play every match as a starter. What more can I say…its only in Arsenal a manager collects 8 million for 9 years of mediocrity….what is funny is that we have been saying this for at least 6 years now…and like that we are being shouted down….but people like me, our brand of shirt now has insignia written…..PATIENCE. One day we shall look for Wenger, and we shall find him no more…

  99. Ronny331 says:

Some simple proof today that wenger is blind, stupid or stubborn. I said days agao we must play belerin due to routledege and dyer havingpace Once I saw the reateam sheet and montero it was even more important as he’s lightning quick. So here’s two oppurtunities wengers missed to make the right simple selection. He then allows chambers to get skinned all game does not bring on belerin, does not instruxt Ramsey or others to offer cover. Now he’s nsuceeded in danagibg a young new players confidence, specialist in failure indeed, wenger out and not upstairs bit too another club!

  100. nyc says:

Now suddenly our next opponents manutd are looking like they are going to beat the hell out of us. Compare swansea’s players to united’s. Falcao rvp Rooney Mata di Maria will milk mertesacker and monreal.
