The reason Arsenal have secured signing of Ozil and Alexis?

We all know that money plays a big part in football these days, and even though Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are no longer held back by the need to plough a large chunk of the club’s earnings into the repayment of the costs of building the new stadium, we are still a bit behind the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Man United when it comes to spending power.

Even with their reported wage demands, however, the Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are not out of our price range and as the boss suggested recently, it is not the money that will be the deciding factor in whether the pair will sign the new contracts on offer and commit their future to Arsenal.

I am sure that Wenger and the Arsenal board will agree to anything but a ridiculous salary for both Gunners, but what they really need is to know that they are at a club that can win things as well as one that brings the best out of them.

Right now that is clearly the case, highlighted clearly by the midweek demolition of Ludogorets which saw the German notch his first ever hat-trick and the Chilean’s stock rise even further with a peach of a goal and a brilliant all-round display.

Both Gunners are entering the prime years of their playing career and the fact that both are also enjoying their best form will not be lost on them and neither will the fact that the whole team looks in the best shape ever for a proper tilt at the title.

If I was Wenger I would be really pushing for those contract extensions while everything at the club is so rosy, so do you think that recent events on the pitch will be the reason Arsenal secure the futures of these two key players?
