Theo Walcott has done his homework!

The Arsenal winger cum striker Theo Walcott has started the preseason in the same way he ended the last campaign, as he scored the opening goal against Everton yesterday. The England international scored a hat-trick against West Brom on the last day of the season, and then followed it up in the FA Cup Final win over Aston Villa.

But yet again Arsene Wenger is having protracted contract talks with Walcott and Le Prof confirmed that he will be having further meetings with Theo soon. “Yes, because he is close to the end of his contract next season.”

But the manager was obviously impressed with Walcott’s fitness during yesterday’s match as he said afterwards: He is sharp and prepared well,”

“He is like every player – they look fit, close to full fitness. It’s quite amazing how the players are back to a good body shape and a good [level] of fitness because they prepare well.

“Now football has changed – they come back after holidays and they don’t start from zero. They have done their homework and he is one of them.”

Walcott took a long time to get back into the Gunners first team after his year out injured, but the win over Everton has proved to Wenger that he hungry to win back his place in the starting XI. I wonder if the talks with Wenger are centred around whether he will get more chances to play as an out-and-out centre-forward, and if he can keep his scoring boots on all the way through to the Charity Shield then he could stake his claim to give Giroud some misgivings ahead of the new season….

  1. Well it seems Lacazette, Aubmeyang and Benteke may be out of our reach like Higuain, Dybala, Mandzukic, Jackson Martinez and Pedro

There is still Benzema and Cavani or Reus, Draxler and Greizmann maybe. Maybe Lacazette can still be turned

    1. With Arsene mentioning how it will be only excellent quality that makes him pounce well the two names I keep coming back to are Cavani and Reus. I doubt AM will sell Greizmann unless the offer is over fifty sixty mil and I don’t think they’ll get that offer just yet.

Draxler seems a plausible target especially if Theo dithers further. I would like to see utd bring in one of their striker targets then if Cavani is for sale he may get cold feet about moving to them as another battle for starting berth is not something he will be keen on. Cavani in my opinion is the best centre forward on the market or at least he will be. Reus, I believe as everyone does I think that he suits our team and manager to a tee. I would imagine though that Benitez will be targeting this player especially if he is moving Ronaldo centrally.

        1. screw draxler. not better than welbz or the ox. seriously, i want improvement not potential

    2. Don’t forget dzeko, he is quality and available. We should go all out to sign him. He’s well worth 25 mil…the best option that comes to mind. It’s time we sign a player from shittty…manure,Chelsea have sold to us why not shittty.

      1. Three strikers who we actually have a chance to sign
        1. Dzeko
        2. Zlatan
        3. Lliorente

I think all three players are quality and can offer lots of experience. We can sign any of the three players. I personally want to see dzeko signed. I think dzeko is the perfect player for us.

    3. My dear old dad is going up to st Thomas hospital for radio therapy and one of the drivers who takes him has a 18 year old son in our youth team , he says that the talk on the training ground is that
The other has lost his bottle due to the injuries he’s suffered and that’s why he’s pushing for 150 grand a week in case he gets smashed up again, makes sense I suppose and you can’t really blame him on one hand but it means he’s not the man to lead the line if it’s true of course if it’s not I still don’t think he’s the man to lead up front . Get benzene I say

  2. Theo rules.
    Nice done.

(Although some time people will say his goals in Singapore were “only” v Everton and pre season.

    1. Lacazete lacazete lacazete. Tired of this crap name. The guy had one good season in the French league. Plus he does not want to leave Lyon. Just get over him already. Wish we sign zlatan

  3. I will be relieved when Walcott signs. If he doesn’t we would need two strikers.

Come on Theo! Lets win more trophies 🙂

  4. Reports in Turkey suggesting Flamini is going to sign his contract with Galatasaray on Tuesday
yesssssss please let this happen his wage could be problem is on 60/w

feel that wenger could make a move for bender/kirchowaik

        1. If flamini leaves Wenger has no choice but to sign a DM. So let’s all pray that gala actually sign him. It would be awsome business for us. Even if they are offering nothing for him we should let him go on a free.

          1. He might turn Giroud into a Dm. as we know that he loves to play player out of their poz. Believe it………../……

    1. Lars Bender..You heard it first here..better that Schneiderlin and has more experience at the Champions league level..batter passer and used to playing with both Ozil and Mert..has been a target for Wenger like forever..we even once made a bid for him..alse Kris Krammer has returned on loan from Gladbach that means Leverkusen have his position covered already..my prayer..make it happen Ooh Lord

      1. L. Bender is not a better passer he had like a 73% passing average last year.

But I agree since Kramer is back they can now sell bender and wenger is a known fan

  5. Theo Walcott is a very dangerous player.Arsenal should be lucky to have him.I do hope he signs a new contract because we need him very much.In my opinion he should stay on the wing because he is specialized for that role. His style of play shows this.He would get us a lot of goals when playing at the wing so at least he should be there instead of the cf role where he may or may not excel.SIGN DA TING

    1. Cobblers is he ” a very dangerous player” he’s a talented kid but he is missing something in front of goal and whatever that is if he don’t have it by now he never will he’s an excellent player to have in any side but he ain’t no premier league winner I don’t see any of the euro giants lining up to prize him away from us its a shame and I hate to say it but he’s no Henry replacement and won’t ever be. Same with welbeck he’s a great squad player but NEVER a goal monster not ever

  6. I still maintain that we are genuinely in for Benzema. If you go and check his Instagram, you’ll see he’s following an account called “Wengerland”. When put with the fact that there have been many people linking him with us and he was left out of the Madrid starting lineup in their first preseason match and Benz and Ozil are good friends, I believe there is a very good chance we pick him up. A team of: Alexis Benzema Walcott
    Ozil
    Cazorla Coquelin
    Monreal Kos Mert Bellerin
    Cech
This team easily rivals anything in the prem and would probably push most other teams in Europe.

    1. How bout a certain Lacazette who favourited a comment on twitter linking him to Arsenal?…… Do u see a correlation ere?

    2. I really hope we do get Benzema. Insert Gabriel if he steps up in place of Mert and someone better than Coq or can step in and do the same job with excellent passing and shooting range and we have a team that can challenge legitimately for the EPL. The backup cast (some of who can eventually become 1st team starters) like Ramsey, Oxlade, Wilshere and others like Welbeck, Rosicky, Giroud etc provide very good quality in depth.

        1. So Coquelin is the best in the world?…After 5 months? What if he gets injured?
There are better players than Coquelin out there who are available and not available. Schneiderlin, Lars Bender, Matic, Krychowiak etc. It just depends on the willingness of Wenger to get them rather than player pet.
          What are you smoking?

    3. …..And I got this too

      @YoFooty
      Jul 6
      @MazyMesut @Benzema @ wengerland hes
been following that account since he first got
      instagram…please dont spread rumours

    4. What a foolish reason to think benzema is coming our way, so what if he’s following Wenger land on insta? So what if he’s friends with ozil??benzema is happy at Madrid and benetiz has no intention to sell him.so the move will never happen. Only and only if real sign aguero which is unlikely to happen. We need to go after a target that we can actually land, dzeko is the perfect player. I have been saying this for a month now. Just get dzeko!!!

      1. It’s not foolish reasoning, you’re obviously too old or out of touch to realise the importance of social media. The fact that Benzema was left on the bench may hint at his lack of importance to Benitez, especially amid talk that Ronaldo could be played as a striker. The remark on Ozil is there simply because it could help swing a deal from other teams to us. Dzeko is the self same striker as Giroud. No pace and good at hold up play. Granted he’s a better finisher but he’s not what we need. A striker such as Benzema or Lacazette fits us much more.

        1. I would absolutely welcome benzema to arsenal, but the fact is that he is happy at real. He missed one game for real so you can’t be so sure that he wants to leave. It seems impossible at the moment to sign benzema, I’m just saying we should be after more realistic targets. Dzeko offers much more than giroud, he is quicker and finishes much better than giroud. Signing dzeko would be a smart move for us.

  7. AC Milan agreed a 3 year deal with Zlatan Ibrahimovic worth €7.5m net, PSG will replace with him Lacazette, PSG have an agreement with Zlatan Ibrahimovic to let him join AC Milan after the Trophée des Champions acc to French media

crap we are running out of options reus/benz come on wenger

    1. We should have signed zlatan… He would have been a perfect temporary solution until players like akpom and yaya come good. Zlatan would have knocked in goals for fun.

  8. Who can this player be that football agent said that he would be the best deal on this transfer window? Is this supposed to be a jk or what?

Walcott like Wilshere need to avoid injuries and they will have a great season. COYG

  9. if only wenger read blogs, he would see how arsenal fans are committed to the club, every day we debate the same things and come up with the same solutions… Wenger has a plan, let him play it out, patience fellow gooners!
