There is one big side effect Arsenal having a low transfer budget

Apart from the obvious, there is one huge side effect of Arsenal having a low transfer budget and it is one that directly affects the fans.

It makes for a terrible summer, that is what.

Think about it, when we have had the cash to splash there is a massive sense of excitement, transfer rumour season was far more enjoyable waking up each day thinking what superstar would we be linked with today? What £60 Million player are Arsenal interested in?

Well, those days are well and truly over with, now it is what unknown player are we interested in today? what average £20 Million player is on his way to the Emirates?

Man Utd fans, even Tottenham fans can look forward to a summer of reading about huge stars but us Arsenal fans are discussing whether Alberto Moreno is worth a punt, he is free after all.

Now, it is possible that we can bring in players on a small budget and still challenge for the top-four and silverware Ajax style, they spend small and bring in quality and I touched on that in this article here but the truth is we do not have the people at the club with the talent to identify those sort of players and therefore we are stuck reading about Dennis Praet and Joachim Andersen while Man Utd fans get to read about Harry Maguire.

This is the life now of an Arsenal fan in the transfer window following a club that has so royally messed up its transfer business in past years.

  1. Ajax have excellent scouts, whereas Arsenal’s scouts seemed to be dead for years until Mislintat came. I hope Edu can replace him, but South American players usually just want to use EPL clubs as their stepping stones to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona

Regarding Moreno, Kolasinac > Moreno. If Arsenal are serious in improving their squad, they had better gamble on Grimaldo or Tierney

I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal get one or two freebies though

    1. Ajax has the same quality of scouts as Arsenal have. But what Ajax has is the patience to nurture them and make them stars. You cant find the next Messi and keep in in the under 23 team till he becomes 24 yrs old.

That exactly is whats happening here at arsenal. Look what Bielik is feeling about his time at Arsenal. He was brought when he was 17yr old kid. He has not even been in the periphery of the reserve team. Now he is almost 22 years old and he doesnt want to be in the U23 team nor does he want to go out on loan to some League2 club.

If we had given him chance and been patient we could have had our own De Ligt in our hands. That is how high I think of him. But at arsenal we are worried of losing games which we anyway do lost when we field players like Mustafi and Koscielny.

      1. QD, we will never wait because we Arsenal fans eat up content and are susceptible to click bate. We enjoy reading a negative press about us .Which club pays full price of a player in one installment if the selling club is will to let the player go. Chelsea didn’t pay Kepa full price despite paying the buy out club. So a club could buy 4 players for 200m and pay just between 40m to 60m in the buying season and play the remaining in installment. My point is no club will buy 300m players and pay that amount under normal circumstances without violating ffp

      2. Exactly and Bielik had a storming game at centrehalf against Belgium yesterday, scoring a goal in the 3-2 win.

  2. Our forays in to the South American market have been shaky at best.

Moreno – no thanks. There are better options, and I remember the horror show he had last season.

  3. I don’t understand this low transfer budget. I am not even sure if it is true or just a propaganda by the media.

It may well be a paid media propaganda by the arsenal board itself.

I remember very clearly that in the last January transfer window it was extensively publicized that because of our wage budget reaching FFP limits there is no money at all to spend. However there will be significant funds in the summer for Emery to rebuild.

I dont think 45mil is either significant in terms of money available or sufficient enough for a rebuild.

God know why such hopeless rumors are being pushed through about Arsenal while all other clubs news includes lots of positives both in terms of new arrivals and also money earned through sales.

    1. Can you imagine someone like Domonic Solanke who has played a handfull of times for Liverpool has increased the coffers at anfield by 17mil.

While we are giving Napoli their first choice GK in Ospina and we are being paid 3mil in return. Who the hell put that clause of 3 mil in the first place is the burning question.

I believed since that dick law left we have become better in contract negotiations and clauses. Looks like even Huss Fahmy is being forced to work in the same way as his predecessor.

All this useless shit wont change unless there is serious shake up at the board level. Why the hell do we even pay that useless old chap Keswick to be our chairman? what is his contribution to Arsenal?
People like him need to be fired to bring in some best practices and processes within the off-field functionality of the club.

      1. He doesn’t have any say he is more of a celebrity Chairman and since Arsenal is an English club we need to keep that tradition regardless same as Wenger where he was trying to sell an idea “English core” with very average players who could not help Arsenal very good example is Jenkinson and the only thing I admire Spanish big 2 they go with time you are not good enough you are next to the door and I really hope Raul brings that mentality at Arsenal

    2. Negotiations for Alexis Claude-Maurice are at an advanced stage. In our hands now to scupper the move.
As reported some time back, Saliba deal is close but City want to hijack so we might also have to agree to loan him back to them though the club have made it known that they do not want to loan back the player.

Remember we are paying for the players in instalments so don’t be deceived into thinking we have a massive budget. From a very reliable source as stated days ago our budget is around £70m before player sales.

  4. Maybe we should all take a deep breath and just wait and see how the transfer window unfolds. It’s pointless trying to guess how much money is available for transfers, more so it is unfair and irresponsible to criticize the board even before they have messed up the window.

How can the writer declare a £20M signing is automatically average? So if we sign a player for £38M like Xhaka, does that make him worldclass? Is Xhaka worldclass? Mustafi? Fans want big money to be spent but when they flop then you come back here to complain?

Expect developments about these two this week.

  6. I really expect to see some transfer activity at Arsenal come this next July same thing we bought Nasri early but it too couple of weeks before we announced for some financial quarterly report

  7. Enagic, July 1 is an imporyant date in that on that day the Adidas kit contract takes effect. This contract is apparently worth £300 million over 5 years, ie £60 million per annum. It would be expected that Adidas would require Arsenal to bring in players worthy to wear the Adidas Arsenal shirt and enhance shirt sales with their names. Also Adidas would require that new players recruited to Arsenal would be presented to the media and supporters dressed out in the new Adidas kit.

  8. Arsenal when shall our joy be returned. Years of neglect and mediocrity. We see the results today.
Kev is the Carrasco deal truly and really off?
I don’t rate Frazer much high though.

    1. I feel the same, I dont want to see these small physical frame players anywhere near arsenal anymore. We have had our share of small technically gifted(so called) players at arsenal for too long now.

Fraser is somewhere close to 5ft 5inch. Though he has worked out very well at Bournemout, i dont think he will be clicking well at Arsenal. He is an average dribbler, avg flair. But what he is good at is his excellent crossing skills which would work at teams who play a target man or the teams which play counter attack and put in early crosses.

We don neither of them. Our build up play has become so boring these past 3,4 seasons that i fall asleep for almost all of our Monday night late kick-offs and Europa league games.

The main culprit for this boring build up of ours is our midfield. To pin point it is that useless piece of sh*t Xhaka. He is the one who slows us down with his sideways passing or passes to our CBs or wingbacks. While he does that our strikers will be making daunting runs behind the opposition CBs.

If anyone observed, even in the EL final i can point out atleast 3,4 occasions where lacazette made runs when the ball was with xhaka expecting him to ping it over the defense. But he just either passes it back to CBs or Wingbacks.

For gods sake even Alex Song used to ping sweet over the head balls when he was at Arsenal. I still remember his assists to Van Persie in the season before he went to MANU. Those were some of the best days for Arsenal. Even if we were not able to win anything, i could at-least get glued to the TV to watch us play.

Next culprit is that fraud of a footballer Mesut OzOil. Never liked him in the arsenal shirt. He always played according to his terms and when he feels like playing. What exactly does he do except for just drifting across the field to occasionally come Of many reasons to hate Arsene in his recent years giving Mesut a new bumper contract is among the top 3. I wish he gave the same contract to Alexis instead. He would have flourished with our current strikers.
