This free-agent Arsenal rumour I could actually believe to be true

Considering that Arsenal sold Kieran Gibbs, the Ox and Gabriel (and nearly Mustafi as well!), and disposed of Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Brammall on loan, we could be forgiven for thinking that the Gunners were getting a bit short on defenders at the moment.

Wenger’s short term solution appears to be trying to move players from other positions to fill the gaps, but today it has been revealed that our old left-back Bacary Sagna was released by Manchester City at the end of last season and is currently priced at 3/1 to head back to make a sensational return the Emirates.

The BetStars director Ian Marmion said: “Arsenal are 3/1 contenders to snap up 34-year-old Bacary Sagna, who is currently a free agent after being released by Manchester City,”

“Former French International Sagna spent seven seasons with the Gunners and won the FA Cup in 2014 before moving north to join the Etihad side.”

“Serie A side Torino are favourites to sign Sagna and are priced at 5/2 with BetStars to recruit him to replace Davide Zappacosta, who made a deadline day switch to Chelsea,” Marmion added.

Wenger has history of bringing ex-Gunners back to the fold, with Matthieu Flamini and Thierry Henry being the latest examples, and with our defensive crisis right now I can easily see Sagna being the next one.

Can you?

    1. Really ?
      Replace a 32 year old
      dead wood Debuchy
with a 34 year old who left in a huff 3 years ago. 🙂
Bring back all the Goldne oldies .Deadwood FC here we come 🙂
      Almunia
      Dijouro Vermaelen Squilacci Santos
      Flamini Diarby
      Little Boy Podolski Girvinho
      Bendtner.
      Reserves
Richard Wright Senderous Cygan Dench Chamakh Sanogo Jeffers

        1. Podolski always gave everything… sometimes that wasn’t alot but he gave everything, scored some great goals and, like eboue, was great in the changing room. 🙂 I’d dis agree with the flop status you imply there mate.

  1. well normally i think its a great idea, as hes an experienced RIGHTback and can play when bellerin is in a bad form, but what should we do with debuchy then? for that we already have him, as long as we cant ship him out,we shouldnt buy another RB

    1. Bang on! very surprising that we couldn’t ship Debuchy out – he has decided to take revenge on Wenger and receive every penny of his contract with ZERO effort. What a life !

  2. Most arsenal players can’t cope in top teams. Since is free let him come, we pay him per play, n young ones can learn from him

  3. I wonder if Le Prof will bring back the free agent Sagna to the Emirates Stadium this summer as it doesn’t look Arsenal are short in right back personnel as they have Bellerin, Mustafi and Debuchy who all can manned the right back position very very well. Save, Debuchy who is yet to prove this season he has fully recovered his lost form due to his been sidelined with injury for a whole season campaign. As a matter of fact, I am expecting Le Prof to start Mustafi at the left side of Arsenal back three defence while Koscielny starts centrally and Monreal starts at the right side. And Bellerin and Kolasinac should start as right wingback and left wingback respectively against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium as we all know.

  4. OT: @ Jackgunner. You think that kroenke does not have anything to do with the profits made by the club? How about a bump in valuation of his stake? How about dividends paid out on his shares? A pure bred capitalist like kroenke does not in anyway gain from the profits made by arsenal is what you have stated. Makes me laugh. Just because he may not be drawing out a salary/ drawing out a small amount doesnt mean he will forfeit his dividend cheque. I bet Jacvgunner thinks that all the money earned by the club is spread out between our legends such as henry and a bunch of charities(Arsenal do do a lot for charity, something
I admire about the club). Hate to burst your bubble buddy. But your cash is going into kroenke and usmanov’s pockets. And who ever else owns shares in the company.

  5. It wouldn’t surprise me either, the club is a mess.

I really hope the fans on Saturday rip into Kroenke. It’s the only way there will be change at the club.

  6. Whatever people say about WEnger, Kroenke is the one who prevented any change at all, by backing him against the board, and giving him a 2 year contract. Kroenke is our glass ceiling, under which any manager can only go so far, and probably would not join us because of him. I mean – he is so stingy, he won’t even buy his own suits, but wears his dad’s prohibition era suit to an FA cup final.

      1. Why evils, #Wengerout right? Mancini has been the only one who’s shown an interest in the dead end job of working under Kroenke and Gazidis, hey, he’ll bring back Balotelli with him, stupid Wenger refused to sign him when he was available for just £16 m like we all wanted. ?

  7. mmmmmm guyz I think I need to have a break since there iz no sign of in arsenal team I feel great sometimes watching small teams play rather see a big team play nosense every time arsenal is not a football club anymore but a political club no time for football but play pples mind to get money every year

  8. I stopped reading at left back, then I thought may be it’s about gal clichy, but alas. Just another post where the writer doesn’t know his left and right or arse from his elbow.

  9. Are u kidding me? I know things are really bad at the moment but are we now a recycling enterprise that buy scrap? Sad!!
