Three Eintracht Frankfurt players that can cause Arsenal significant problems

Eintracht Frankfurt likes to play an expansive style of football utilising their wing-backs and wingers as often as possible and they have a handful of players that will pose significant dangers that Arsenal will have to deal with.

Danny da Costa

The 26-year-old is primarily a right-back but does like to get forward, he is not strictly a wing-back but has already shown his capabilities in the Europa League this season with a couple of goals, he has made the right-back position his own at Frankfurt despite strong competition and is an effective defender as well. Basically, the sort of defender Arsenal could do with.

Filip Kostic

A classy midfielder, the Serbian has been in good form this season, he primarily plays on the left and has already scored four goals this season, including three in the Europa League. He has become a very important figure for Frankfurt and will give the Arsenal defenders a torrid time. did a write up on him last season and I suggest you read it here, it tells you all you need to know about how dangerous he can be.

Goncalo Paciencia

The Portuguese forward is on fire, he has already scored six goals this season from 11 games in all competitions including three goals in the Europa League and three goals in the Bundesliga. He is a product of the Porto youth system and while he may not be a household name you can only judge him on his current form and right now, he is electric.

Of course, there is no guarantee that all three will play but it would be a surprise if they did not, all three come with a goal threat and yet only one is a forward, the Arsenal full-backs will certainly have their hands full and whoever Unai Emery goes with in the middle of defence they will not be having a quiet night.

  1. ThirdManJW says:

3 more players that will hurt us considerably: Xhaka, AMN, and Luiz.

    1. gotanidea says:

Why don’t you include Sokratis and Mustafi as well, to make a fragile five?

    2. GunneRay says:

      Include the manager!

    3. Phil says:

Doesn’t that just sum it up when we include OUR OWN PLAYERS as a threat.
In regards AMN -I actually feel a bit for the lad. What we do now know is he is not a RB.He is not even a WB.But with the lack of options available to us he is all we have until Bellerin is back fit.
Chambers is NOT a RB.Mustafi is Mustafi.

  2. gotanidea says:

    Great article

I’m worried Da Costa would dominate Kolasinac in aerial duels, as what Marcos Alonso did to Bellerin to score against us

Based on their stats, the other two players are also dangerous and don’t forget about Bas Dost who is a lethal towering target man

  3. Danish Gooner says:

Frankfurt almost sent Chavski packing last year but since then they lost their two best players and havnt replaced them.

  4. malish says:

Please start learning Lesson from the use of Matteo, Xhaka, Luis & Sokaritis

Avoid these immediately – Use Torrira, Cebaloos, Nellsion, Jock etc

    1. ForeverGooner says:

      Your spelling is atrocious

      1. jon fox says:

He got “immediately” correct though! Slightly surprisingly, all else considered. Not that it matters at all, provided his post was understandable, which it was! Your own sentence lacked a full stop,by the way!

  5. KARIM says:

We always forgetting that sometime person you think off will create problem within defence , may not be him , maybe is another difference body . But what i want the coach to focus on , is to bring Mustafi and Rob Holding for central back for the match tomorrow.

  6. Keno says:

Maybe Luis should be played in front of the Arsenal back four so that Rob and Chambers can defend against him as well.
Many of Arsenal’s older players think they know it all and don’t need to do the basics. They think by just showing up, the opposition will be scared of them.
Only Auba, Laca, Matteo, Lucas and maybe the new and promoted young stars at moment play like they love the Arsenal.

  7. Sean Williams says:

Even if Emery clears his head and guides the team for the Frankfurt game, it won’t take long before he leads us to brainfog. In the PL he is scared. I don’t think it is the players. They can play. It’s Emery who is putting shite in their heads. If you make players try to play in an erroneous, ****** up way, that leads nowhere, and confuses players and public alike, then the law ‘put shite in get shite out’ applies. Emery does not know his ass from his head, he is that confused.

    1. Keno says:

Maybe Emery’s head is down there and his downside is up. He is being stubborn like Wenger used to be before things became better. The board needs to support him in buying the right players for his system not the Sokratis and Luis’ of this world.
I don’t see why Steve Bold was moved. At least he would have helped those defenders or re-assigned roles as a defensive coach just like goal keeper coaches. Arsenal for sure needs a defensive coach

      1. Phil says:

Steve Bould was assistant to Wenger and Emery.I didn’t notice our defence get any better.Did you ?

    2. Keno says:

The most basic of all like other teams do is for Emery to tell his defenders… if you can’t pass due to pressure, just hoof it anywhere away from your goal and regroup.

      1. 350oz says:

Last season Steve Bould coached the players and we conceded 50+ goals, so no. We need to bring in someone from outside.

Yeah he needs to stop playing from the back, but more importantly they lack organization. Previously we were often caught in transition, but recently even if there are 8 players behind the ball we still conceded. On the right hand side, Torreira often waved his hand but AMN had no clue. On the left, Kolasinac was against two players and it took Xhaka a very long time to get there, because he is slow (slow thinking + slow movement = disaster).

  8. Innit says:

    Looking forward to it
A win is what we need right now and hopefully Emery will guide us through several wins in a row so.we can climb back up the table

We need to focus on our upcoming matches and hope for the best

  9. sanmi.marvellous says:

We(Arsenal)know how to make any average team looks like Barcelona. I discovered this from the day we played 4-4 with the Toons Army years ago.

This season, Watford had just one points in 4 matches before playing us, thus rooted to bottom of the log table. Now they have another against us. I am sure they won’t have any in the next 3 matches because they play so badly.

It is now our way of life to make average team looks like Barcelona

  10. Sue says:

Jeez the way things are going, I’d say anyone can cause us problems (even Atilla, their golden eagle mascot ?)
Just put us under a little pressure & watch us buckle!!
Unai & the players know they have to more mistakes, we have to get a result
