Time for England to follow Arsenal’s lead on Walcott?

It must be a little confusing for the Arsenal and England stars Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as their situations with club and country are very different. The Ox is a regular starter for Roy Hodgson in the international games yet he struggles to force his way into the Arsenal line up.

And the opposite is true of Walcott, even though he returned from his long spell on the sidelines through injury in good scoring form. Even though he has been playing as a centre forward under Arsene Wenger and proving himself capable, Hodgson still seems to see him as a winger and even then he is way down the pecking order.

Maybe this international break will be different. With England having already qualified for the Euro 2016 tournament next summer, Hodgson has a great chance to experiment a little bit. And with his current first choice strikers, Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane, looking very short of form in front of goal while the Arsenal man is flying, you would be surprised if he did not get a chance in at least one of the two games coming up.

I certainly hope so as it would boost his confidence as well as giving him more time on the pitch to hone his centre forward skills. Walcott is learning fast but anything that helps him has to be good for the Gunners, so will England and Hodgson do us a favour?
