Torreira confirmed in Uruguay – Arsenal waiting for Guendouzi

So it surely must be nearing the end of Arsenal’s transfer business today, with both Torreira and Guendouzi both at London Colney being put through their fitness test, which will be just a formality.

We now have confirmation of Torreira from Uruguay and just waiting for the youngster…..

This is how the BBC’s David Ornstein broke the news this morning….

Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira and France Under-20 international Matteo Guendouzi are set to have medicals at Arsenal on Monday.

The Gunners have an agreement in place with Serie A side Sampdoria for the £26m transfer of 22-year-old Torreira.

He is seen as a key recruit by new Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who has already made three signings.

Midfielder Guendouzi, 19, will join from Lorient and is viewed as a top-level prospect for the future.

A deal for defensive midfielder Torreira – who is 5ft 6in and has been capped eight times by Uruguay – was agreed before the World Cup, where he helped his country reach the quarter-finals, where they were beaten 2-0 by France.

  1. We have not done badly this window considering how things have been in the past.
We await the confirmation on arsenal.com

    1. Yeah, now a pacy and tricky left-footed right winger with world class first touches should be the next target

        1. I also proposed the squad numbers that Torreira takes other 19 or 24 so let’s wait and see.

          1. Both players are already ar London Colney having their medicals.
Leno has No.19 shirt, confirmed earlier this morning.

        2. What has happened to you prediction of Wilshere going to Fenerbeche and also soyuncu coming to arsenal?

Looks like you have bit your tongue with wilshere news and so you will with soyuncu as well.

You even asked us to shout “Soyuncu soyuncu soyuncu” a few days agp on one of the threads here.

          1. Was wrong on Wilshere but Soyuncu should join once Mustafi leaves. This is due to the number of CB’s we have.

            1. Sunderland’s 16 year old striker Sam Greenwood is now at London Cooney. He is set to sign.DONE DEAL!!!

            2. Its really nice to see thar you can admit that you are wrong with some of your transfer done deals.

Hope you get some more of your done deals right in the future for the sake of arsenal.

According to ornstein arsneal are done with their business for this season. What is kev’s take on it?

I really hope this is not the end of our business coz we desperately need a wingers, 2 would be great but 1 is a must. We have sold 2 wingers last season and havent replaced them(mkhi is not a winger).

      1. Enuf of the inverted wingers..we need wingers who match thier prefered foots with the wing they play.

All these left footed right wingers and right footed left wingers is what made Arsenal play look so bad for the past 2 seasons. All of them cut inside and clog the space for the striker or att midfielders to make runs.

I think we should go for shaqiri…i know most of them dont want him anywhere near Arsenal. But i believe he will be a show stopper if at all he signs for Liverpool /spurs as reported.

Then we might regret missing a player whom we could have bought for just 12mil.
Who in this present day and age costs anything less than 20mil?
Even average defenders are costing more than 20mil and shaqiri is available for 12mil. We bought ox for 15mil and chambers for 17mil.

Even if he is a super flop(which i believe he can not be) we would just lose 5 mil if we decide to sell him.
Better than buying a mahrez for 60mil to make him sit on the bench like city ..right?

        1. I don’t get it?Doesn’t Shaqiri also cut in and clog the space for midfielders and strikers? When we had Ox and Sanchez we were assured of width because they always took and players and could put in decent balls like Ox for example.
We need a Gervinho type of player with a higher quality. We need a player who can always beat his man 1v1.This is why I didn’t want Mkhitaryan to come because I knew it might deny us a chance of signing a pure winger.

          1. Yes..shaqiri does that for stoke..coz he plays in the right wing.. But i want him to be played on the left wing if he signs for arsenal…coz he has a very good cross and has a good free kick taking ability in him which proves that he is accurate with the crosses as well..

But even if he is played at right wing i dont mind…ffs its 12mil. I know that i may not earn anything near that sum in my entire life. So i do value money, but for a club like arsenal 12mil to invest in a above average player is a no brainer.

I just wish he doesnt go to liverpool or spurs and turn into another mo salah.

        2. I would love to see Saqiri at Arsenal. Unlikely to sign, but a player I enjoy watching whoever he’s playing for.

    2. I believe that this season at least we will try to compete with other giants across the Europe

  2. This is exiting news for arsenal it is the first time i see arsenal do their business so early and adderess critical areas #commonarsenal

        1. hmm im writing this comment at 5:22pm making you wrong. I dont know why you add comments like this. We all know he is gonna be announced asap so putting a 2 hour time limit on it was just silly and shows you to be wrong yet again.

    1. You still need two players to replace Cazorla and Wilshere? Who is Torreira replacing?

      1. He is a defensive midfielder that Wenger refused to get for over a decade

So I would say Wilshere even though he isn’t a dm. Wenger didn’t believe in DM. Wilshere was a good all rounder

Cazorla was a creative maestro. We need to replace him. Ramsey and Xhaka aren’t good enough

        1. You need to employ this logic..
Which positions were Wilshere and Carzola playing?? And have they been filled??
Also, Wilshere was mostly on the bench/injured, so unless you want us to get a midfielder to spend time in the sickroom/bench..

        2. we are left with 6 players capable of playing in central midfield positions after Guendouzi and Torreira sign. That seems pretty sufficient. I don’t think we need direct replacements for Cazorla or Wilshere. If Emery wanted those types of players he would’ve seeked them out. Let’s see what he does with the players he bought/already has.

        3. Dm – Torreira/Guendouzi

          Cm – Ramsey/AMN/Elneny/Xhaka

          Am Ozil/Mhiki

8 players for 4 potential roles. We are more than covered in the middle of the park.

We need wingers if we are going to play 4-2-3-1 if we play 4-3-3- or 3-5-2 think we are covered in every position. Although I expect a few sales as the first team squad is 32 players at the moment with the arrivals of Torriera and Guendouzi

    2. 2 more midfielders, Wtf is it with you guys? This is Football manager? what happens to Ramsey and Xhaka whose contracts are done already

  3. Lucas Torreira seems to be exactly the type of player we need. Matteo Guendouzi looks to be a certainty to reach the top level of football. He does at an early age what Granit Xhaka should be doing. It will be a maximum of a year before he is top notch. We are just missing a Santi/Jack/Cesc type midfield magic man. We are 90% there, maybe more if we get the top ball player. This year 4th/5th. Next year a real challenge.

  4. Still think # Arsenal is neglecting one of the basic priority.#a natural winger. Very important. # can’t stretch dogged teams without it cuz we don’t have any.

  5. This is a great start. All that’s left is a creative CM & left footed winger. Perez is back up which is good but we will be seeing more exits in the likes of Campbell, Ospina, Welbz & possibly Mustafi but he could be staying as have not heard anything on his departure from Arsenal, who would want him of he plays the way he has been. Maybe it is just last chance saloon for a few players like him, Xhaka & Elneny…

We are getting there to challenge for the top 4 & Europa League, if all goes well then next season could be a proper challenge. Would love to see it this year but won’t get too ahead of myself.

We are going In the right direction.

  6. y are we signing this kid again when we have good under 21 midfielders even nwakali is better than this kid, we should give our kid chance to prove themselves instead of signing more.

    1. Guendouzi already has first team experience, and obviously the scouts like him very much. Better to just trust Mislintat on this one. This is one of the main reasons we brought him into the club. I very much expect AMN, Nelson and Nketiah to get a good amount of first team playing time. AMN, for sure. And looking at the fact we only have a few wide options, Nelson and Nktiah as well will get chances. And I believe Nwakali has work permit issues, or at least he did a year ago

  7. Good luck at West Ham, Jack. Apart from when you’re playing us of course ?
Have to say… the claret & blue suits you!

    1. If people can flash back…. How wilshire bossed the Barcelona midfield, i think letting him go is an absurd decision… Remember no midfielder has ever bossed a midfield of xavi. Busquetes, iniesta and messi

      1. I don’t blame him for leaving…. he just wants to play every game.. unfortunately we couldn’t offer him that….. He’ll do well there I reckon

        1. With arsenal may be he will stand a chance to win a premier league but with westham… He deserves to win something

          1. I agree with you. He was the last midfielder at arsenal who has that drive in him with the ball. I would have taken wilshere over ramsey any day.
            M
In my view Ramsey is the problem what arsenal have been struggling with for 2 seasons. He leaves the midfield and occupies spaces where striker or att midfielders want to be. And one more drawback is his attitude. I really hated Giroud coz of how he smiles everytime he misses scoring a goal. I see the same with ramsey. I have seen many top class goal scorers playin for various teams, but never have i seen a player smile when he misses a shot on goal. Every player i saw was always distraught about the missed chance.
But these two really give me the impression as if they are playing a friendly or are doing the score a goal drill in training.

            1. Stop talking because you don’t know what you talking about. Ramsey was our best player last season. The reason why we were shit last season was because of a shit manager and shit players like Xhaka, Mustafi, Cech and Koschielny.

      2. cant live off of a game he played 7 years ago. That’s just absurd. Injuries got the best of him and he has not been able to find any real form. Right decision.
