Transfer or injury? Why is Cazorla not with Arsenal for pre-season?

I really hope that there is a perfectly good reason for the Arsenal and Spain international midfield star not being with his team mates at London Colney this week as Arsene Wenger and his coaching staff begin the preparations for next season with the start of pre-season training.

I would have thought that Santi Cazorla would be one of the first back at the club after the summer break though, as the Spaniard was not involved with Spain at Euro 2016 after missing a lot of last season with injury. He was fit again by the end and he did start our final Premier League game against Aston Villa so as far as we know there is no reason for him not to be training with the rest of the Gunners that are back with the club.

The other Gunners not involved for their national sides this summer like Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are there after all, so I am a bit worried that there is something that Arsenal are not telling us about the little magician. With Granit Xhaka having joined Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny at Arsenal, could Wenger be planning for life without Cazorla in the central midfield position?

Perhaps Santi has some fitness problem that is preventing him from training but if that is the case why have we not heard about it?

Bob.

  1. I think Wenger grants Cazorla a little extra rest after working hard for months to get injury-free again. Don’t think he’ll move this year yet, but I feel like this is going to be his last season at the club.

    1. Hahaha ?
Its actually Wenger that does all the waiting!
And I wouldn’t be surprised if he is waiting to sell one or two of our player’s before spending big again.
      ( Big meaning £30- £40 million) ?

  2. was sorely missed last year. lovely chap santi,
do agree this is prob his last year
needs to be used sparsely now we have xhaka an elneny. one of our most important players for several years.

    ot..pogba to man u?!
please buddha if your listening enough of this bs, ive lit hundreds of these incense sticks an nothings changed.

  3. at the start of the season we will be missing
    Ozil
    Ramsey
    Giroud
    Kos
    Welbeck
    and poss Sanchez and Santi

    1. No problem.
      Koz. = Mertz Gab Chambers
Then for the rest we have.
      Walcott Wilshere Ox Elneny
      Iwobi Campbell Adelaide.
Akpom and Zelalem can cover till the end
of August before going back out on loan.

  4. a certain punditarena website is reporting that ESPN has mentioned Arsenal offering a supposed new 50M euros bid for Draxler.

Makes sense that Arsene Wenger will want his man. It is a fact that there is a real story between Arsenal and Draxler. So I think this “rumor” is more news than rumor.

Even if the transfer does happen, I still cannot see how this exactly solves our goal-scoring problem.

  5. Cazorla is one of our most important players

These players are heart and soul of Arsenal. Cazorla, Cech, bellerin, monreal, coquelin, Ozil, Alexis, koscielny and i would add Xhaka by the way he played in Euro 16 are players we must retain

I believe the rumours that Alexis and Ozil are getting fed up with Wenger’s lack of transfer ambition. I am not saying they will necessarily leave but i believe they want to win trophies as much as being paid big bucks

I think we need a striker, winger and CD
I don’t think Ramsey, Campbell, Theo or Ox are good enough wingers to win CL
Mert’s quality is decreasing and Gabs isnt ready yet

    Strikers
I wish we could at least make an offer for Lewandowski, Lukaku, Higuain or Dybala
But should at least try to get Lacazette, Janssen, Icardi or Bacca

    Wingers
Reus, Greizmann, Mahrez, Aubemeyang, Draxler, Gotze, Rodriguez
    (we missed out on mktharyan)

    CD
Hummels, Howedes, Benatia, Godin, Verane, Van Dijk, Ashley Williams to name a few

    1. Draxler eh! Great player but yet another winger come striker what is it with Wenger? Why can’t he just buy a proven out and out striker?
