Unai Emery vows to keep the Arsenal supporters on board

Every Arsenal fan is excited about the appointment of Unai Emery and the positivity he has brought to our thoughts about next season, although he obviously has a long way to go to get a rapport with our famously fickle fans and has a tough task to keep everyone on board.

But today he met some fans and has made a statement telling us how important he thinks the supporters are in the life of our football club. “For me, it’s after I met with the staff, now I’m meeting with the supporters,” he told Arsenal.com. “Together, we can make things better and achieve success in the next years.

“For me, the club is like one table with four legs. All the legs are very important. One leg is the organisation, the second leg is the team and the players, the third is the media who broadcast our success all around the world, and the fourth is the supporters.

“The four legs are very important for the table and likewise for Arsenal. If you lose one leg, you break. I’ve used this metaphor many times to describe our relationship with the supporters.

“I am very excited for everything to do with this club, with the staff, the supporters and the players at training on Monday,” he added. “This event is all about the supporters and I want us to be together here because the supporters want to know all about me. I am here for them.”

We can only hope that he keeps to his word and does as much as he can to keep the fans onside and doesn’t keep us in the dark, which is what we have got used to in the Wenger years. We now want to see some top class arrivals in the squad and we want the deadwood shipped out. Let us get a really positive vibe going in the club before our opening match against Ma City!

  1. Wilshere has signed for Fernerbache. £7m sign on fee. 5M every year for 3 years with an option of a fourth.Done deal!!He will probably move again should he impress in his first season.

We have rejected a £22m bid from Napoli for Ramsey. This news will make rounds in the future.

Ignore any news about Torreira not being done too.

    1. I saw earlier about Torreira deal may be off… but then another article said the medical was booked!
      Cheers Kev!

      1. Deal is technically done. Its just subject to a medical which will take place .The player should have been announced during the World Cup to curb the anxiety.May still happen though.
Medical will soon be done though.

      1. I don’t know about that but all I can say is the deal is just subject to a medical which will be done soon. They might just announce him with Sokratis.

  2. Happy days ahead!
Can’t wait to see the first match under Unai
I’m extremely elated going into the new season.

  3. Emery also said team will work and work and work. He promised one thing; team will always work hard.

He also wants them to be “ambitious” for 90 minutes ever game.

Ok article, but dude you left out the best bits! Especially his approach to the supporters, clearly stated what he expects, and how to bring everything together.

I know you can’t list everything, but the table metaphor? 3 legged stool more appropriate; media spred it around the world alright, but it ain’t success they’re spreading around, if you dig what I’m saying.

Emery a bit naive about English media and Arsenal though, bless his heart. He’ll soon come around, just keep walking towards the light my man.

    1. Unless he comes 4th or wins the Europa the first season, he should be sacked now that he’ll have Auba the whole season plus better defenders. Every team is better in the aftermath of change, meaning 5th or 6th next year would likely not be surpassed the year after.

I don’t like him, I have to say. He feels like a slimy liar, which is the one thing I believe of what Kryzhowiak said about him. His greasy demeanor reminds me of every pathological liar I’ve known, but I hope he will show some spine instead.

  4. Great news! An Arsenal article at long last! I had begun to think the site had become a world cup site only. It is lovely to think , and hope , that Emery will not be so dismissive of us supporters views and keeping us in the dark as to the odd decisions and formations regularly made as was his predecessor. Not starting each sentence with an arrogant “Look” when imparting “wisdom” from on high to we mere “prolls” will be a pleasant change too. From Emerys statement it seems we at last have a man in charge who will treat us fans with the respect we deserve. Esp those who attend and have to pay through the nose.

    1. Emery said he will keep the fans up to date with what is going on. Not like Wenger, like mushrooms kept in the dark and fed on bullshit

    1. Not just looking forward to next season I am so excited about next season
For the first time in so many years I actually have Hope and really chomping at the bits for that first whistle to get us off and running

  5. Emery talks a fantastic game; but talk is worth 0 points.

If he can squeeze more effort, accountability, and competitiveness out of this team, we may be at the beginning of something special.

It’s really down to the players working together and executing his tactics.

Ready for season and Man City. I’m all geeked up to see new look Arsenal and how they play.

      1. I’m not being pessimistic but, he’s the same man who blew up a 4 goal lead against Barcelona. But when Wenger was incharge we have faced similar humiliation, actually we were used to it. But I guess we shall remain sceptical until his work pays off.
I just don’t want fans to turn on him if we loose mancity on the opening day.

        1. @Abu Two ludicrous dives from Suarez and Neymar, an offside winner , and a penalty not given for PSG…. everyone knows it was one of the biggest robbery in European football… So that isn’t that big a failure as how some portray.

          1. Exactly…!

Unfortunately people only remember the final score an how the match went. The match was a disgrace ,the referee was either a cheat or blind.

  6. Emery will bring to arsenal fans what simeone brings to atletico Madrid fans which is passion and connection between fans and manager.. It would show during matches at the emirates and at away grounds.. Welcome the second jurgen klopp to the premier league.. Emery is better tactically though

  7. One thing is for sure,we won’t have a dull coach on the sidelines,we have an energetic coach…who is willing to run up and down the touchline just for the three points

  8. I’m looking forward to matches against Liverpool and Chelsea… Emery Vs klopp and emery Vs conte(if he is still Chelsea manager)… Touchline battle filled with intense passion.. Can’t really wait!!!!….bring on the epl and other competitions..my arsenal is back to rule!!!!!… We have waited for so long, now we are here!!!!!!!!!!!!…..come on emery!!!… Let’s do this!!!!!!!!

      1. With you on that Sue. Being on sh!t end of 8-2 assault when your friend of 30 years is a rabid utd fan.

Or repeat offenders Bayern who daylight mugged us 5-1; twice.

Be nice to roll a bigger club convincingly with Emery.

  9. After a decade of Arsene (THIS IS MY CLUB AND I WILL DO WHAT I WANT WITH YOUR MONEY) Wenger it will be refreshing IF Emery is able to become a more transparent Manager than we’ve been used to.I believe He and his Backroom Team have given us an encouraging start to his reign BUT it’s the results and performances throughout the season that will determine his position. He has given us good early signings and enough soundbite to allow us to look forward with a degree of confidence. This is not something we have had lately under Wenger.

  10. Fantastic attitude. It’s just so refreshing to hear a new voice and new ideas. First season in a while I am looking forward to. Let the new era begin 😀

  11. I read but I didn’t like the idea of fans being called famously fickle.

We stick by someone for 20 odd years.

    Fickle? Wtf, pardon my language.

  12. Change is important thing for Arsenal, and new energy from Emery is very positive thing to rebuild the powerful and exciting team.. I knew something new may not be instant, but this makes me very exciting and cannot wait for the season start…

  13. I still have a feeling a monster signing is coming through this summer, arsenal is keeping it for the last, but who could it be??…sokratis, torriera, Leno and Liechtenstein are just low profile signings to steady and improve the team.. But a monster signing is coming through..i feel it deep down my soul…could it be ISCO???… let’s wait and see!!!!

    1. Isco would be a fantastic signing. Lichtsteiner has been impressive for Switzerland; defensively sound and has shown pace up and down the wing and accurate crossing ability. Similarly Torreira when he’s played for Uruguay.

  14. I have a very positive feeling about Emery, his approach to the club, and how he relates to the Fans. I love the signings he’s done (doing), hopefully we’ll get Torreira and a winger. I can’t wait for next season, I can’t wait for the likes of Mikhy, Torreira, Xhaka, and Ramsey Lacazette being given the freedom to shoot from afar. Good times to be a gunner.
