Video – Carragher and Neville analyse the biggest problem for Arsenal

If you can put aside any tribal emotions towards former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher and former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville, then it is worth listening to them with regards to Arsenal playing short goal kicks and playing out from the back.

Whether you like them as people or not both are serial winners as defenders for their respective former clubs, they know all about defending and are good at analysing games.

The video below from the official Sky Sports YouTube channel shows the pair utilising video replays highlighting the reasons why Arsenal are getting it all wrong and I for one, will be looking at future Arsenal games to see if they are replicating the basic errors that the former England defenders identified.

  1. Good analysis. For me, it still puts more than 50% of the blame on the manager.

What happened to our pressing game? Is it me or is even Watford better at pressing than we are? I thought this was going to be one the key aspects of our game under Emery but I hardly see it.

  2. WE’re playing like a team without a clue. It beggars belief how a team in “top flight” football cannot manage the simple basics alone?

To play out from the back without understanding how your own team formation is working is just unfathomable!

Here, we have ex-professionals who, have been discussing the same issues at Arsenal for the best part of 7 years and yet here today in the 2019 – 2020 season it is obvious how badly manage the club is. On and off the field. The club say they aspire to be better without actually improving?! Fact is, Our badly run club have hired a manager who can’t manage a piss up in a brewery!!

    1. Neville was so good as a sky pundit nobody could have enough b of him and then he went to Spain,,do I need how he ended up for him and his team?they had the worst statistics ever easy to criticise on a chair in a studio apart for his Liverpool side souness was the same, mourihno was the same why do all managers take months off before going back to the studiosAÀå

  3. Sorry, but how exactly is Carragher a “serial winner”?

2 FA cups, 1 champions league and 1 uefa cup in 17 years (and 0 premier leagues) a serial winner does not make.
