Vorskla v Arsenal Review – Arsenal cruise to win the Group with ease

I must admit I was a little bit worried about Arsenal playing in minus 12 degrees centigrade in Kiev, but my fears were put to rest after just after just ten minutes when Emile Smith-Rowe scored the Gunners first one tonight and his second goal in the Europa League after just ten minutes, and it looked like our Young Guns were going to be in for an easy night..

Aaron Ramsey doubled our lead before the half hour mark from the spot after he was brought down himself after a clumsy challenge in the box, and the Welshman calmly slotted past the Vorskla keeper. Arsenal were now clearly going to top the Group with one game to spare.

Our third was my favourite in the half when Joe Willock looked like Thierry Henry, taking the ball cleanly outside the box and played a very cool pass into the bottom corner. The lads were positively beaming go in at the break despite the freezing temperatures, and it looks like were going to go into cricket score territory in the following 45 minutes.

But to be honest the Gunners didn’t look very keen to improve the score as I guess the job’s been done – and why risk injury. We can’t get any more than three points. The first 15 minutes limped away with the fans jumping up and down to keep warm.

Just 5 minutes later somehow a cross eluded all the Vorskla defenders and keeper and fell into the path of Smith Rowe who calmly put the bal into the top of the net, but looked extremely confused afterwards! He was even more confused when the ref declared it was offside a couple of minutes later! To be honest so was I! But 3-0 it remained…

There was not much to write home about after that except Petr Cech actually had to make a save, and it was quite a good one! You have to give full marks for a job well done. I would have liked to see Nketiah score but we can’t have everything!

  1. Impressive win by the lads, Smith Rowe keeps growing on confidence. Nice for Emery to pull out Holding and Guendozi, who we might need on Sunday. I’m worried Lacazette won’t make the NLD, maybe that’s why Mhiki didn’t play.? Anybody with an update on Lacazette?? I hope to sew more of Saka and Medley. the young guns played their part tonight, I hope the snr payers play theirs on Sunday too.

  2. Eddie my bro,

Lacazette is back in full training and will play on Sunday
Mhkitaryan was there in case things get out of hand imo

Thank God the first team didnt play, we wouldnt have scored in the first half???

Seriously am so glad we could pull this out without the big goons, it goes a long way in helping us Sunday…coyg#

    1. They do deserve a fair bit of credit. Away, playing in freezing conditions, against a side who regularly together. We looked in total control, and we still had some gears to go. I was impressed by this performance, without going overboard, nice job lads.

  3. Willock seems a great talent and i loved the Nketiah’s hold up play, off the ball movement and dribbling. Great game from the young guns

  4. This shows Emery knows his S***
He knows how to get the best out of players, knows who to rest and who to play to get the job done

I think most of us thought the line-up was a bit too weak but this is why we aren’t managers

I’m so happy that we will have a rested team for Spuds.

  5. Ramsey has been relegated to bench squad, but honestly, can’t complain about his attitude. Unlike others who were destined to leave, he’s still been playing to an acceptable standard.

  6. Some good talent on show … the only two that looked out of place were Ramsey .. more pointless show boating that went nowhere …and elneny … no point to his link up play … guindhouzi needs to be started ahead of xhaka holding ahead of mustafi … nkitah should be given some time in epl games … looked good but difficult to tell against this lot … still have my doubts about maitland niles perhaps out of position … but find his movement awkward … along with Nelson out in Germany we seem to have some depth in academy

  7. Guendouzi is an awesome player…he was one oficina the youngest today and he play as he was commanding, looks like he was 29 playing with the sub21…elneny in the other hand, he Is not antes Arsenal standard player…i like nkethia todo, very brave and motivated…i would loved a goal for him

  8. With Tottenham playing Wednesday on a heavy pitch after two days of rain in London and Arsenal sending the reserves to the Ukraine, everything seems to be going in our favour. It’s wonderful, the media are pulling their hair out. Anyone would think we’ve never had anything go against us in the past. No excuses, lets do ’em.

  9. I seriosuly think Emery only needs to improve the defense on the senior and youth level and we are good to go. Jenkinson is nothing more than a squad or back up player

    1. Oh, is that ALL ? Shouldn’t take him longer than today then! Or it wouldn’t, were it not a Herculean task which you make sounding as easy as making a cup of tea. With our Scrooge of an owner it is nigh impossible to improve them more than he has done already. Most of our defenders, the ones Emery inherited , are simply not good enough. Realism!!!

  10. Looks like the europa league will be more interesting than the champions league, with spurs against barca in Nou camp and inter playing at san siro against PSV, tottenham’s fate in UCL is already decided and liverpool are playing shit in UCL and they are up against Ancelotti’s Napoli, ancelotti would never want to lose against Liverpool. If these two scenarios occur then EL would be definitely more interesting

    1. Spurs can’t beat Barca surely???
Liverpool have got a tough game… but they’ve got Sane, Firmino & Salah who scored on Wednesday.. oh wait it was boring boring Milner ?

      1. Boring he may appear. Normal appearance, no silly “look at me” Pogba haircut and egomaniac on legs type, keeps out of trouble, of nightclubs and off the front pages But he is a 100% all out and gifted player who can play in several positions. I call that exciting rather than boring, Sue. I would take eleven of his sort in our team all day long. And so would almost all fans everywhere if they are honest with themselves. But honesty with themselves is not common among fans anywhere. Most prefer fantasies and hope, which have their place BUT can never replace sensible and unbiased deep thinking and analysis, not if you truly want success.

        1. Jon… that was what his name was ages ago in the paper… it was all to do with his hobbies etc.. So I’m afraid it’s stuck with me… it was really funny

  11. We have to win on Sunday… imagine if we don’t..our undefeated streak ending against them… and Kane adding to his tally of 7 goals against us… ????

  12. He may not be a high quality player but you cannot fault his attitude nor his determination and spirit for the Club he loves.Well done Carl Jenkinson .

  13. 3 goals in 6 games for Smith Rowe. With him and nelson we might have found the 2 good wingers we needed for next season. smith as the technical winger ala pires and nelson as the speed dribbler and goalscorer ala Ljungberg. Just an example of the good talent already in place ready to be used.

      1. lol, utd fans keep bragging they stole our best player maybe the best in the league at his peak and all they got is a glorified bench warmer.
