Arsenal youngster Marcelo Flores was awarded the Player of the Tournament award for his performances in helping Mexico Under-20 to top the Revelations Cup 2021.
The 18 year-old starred for his side with a two goals and an assist from his three appearances against Colombia, USA and Brazil, including scoring the winner against the Selecao, despite being amongst the younger players participating in the tournament.
Flores us currently plying his trade with the Arsenal Under-18 side with six goals from his nine outings in the U18 PL (according to Soccerway), but certainly looks to be a star in the making, and had it not been for other older players already impressing in similar roles in the Under-23 side, you would have thought he would have been promoted up the ranks already.
Both England and Canada are claimed to be hoping to snare him away from Mexico as reported by
Charles Watts, having only played at youth levels thus far, but Arsenal will be more worried about other clubs considering trying to sign him, although our recent victories in blooding younsters into the first-team squad should give us strength in looking to sign new young players, as well as keep the ones are in the ranks currently.
Could Flores be amongst the next crop to break through into the first-team?
