The Man United manager Jose Mourinho moaned the other day that he wasn’t given enough money to compete with the oil-rich moneybags of man City, but Arsene Wenger says that Jose is already at one of the richest clubs but he is just going to have to get used to Man City having more finances than himself.
“I have been in that position for 21 years so I can’t start to complain now,” said Wenger, of Mourinho’s frustrations with Manchester City flexing their financial muscles.
“There have always been three or four teams richer than I am. I’ve learned to cope with that.
“We deal with our own situation as well as we can. Man City, Chelsea and Man United are all richer than us.
“You have to find ways to be successful.”
The so-called Special One threw his toys out of the pram and had a tantrum, acting like a spoiled brat because he has only spent £286million since he arrived at Old Trafford in 2016, compared to Man City’s £360million.
The United boss complained about the money that City spend just on getting defenders, never mind strikers, but Mourinho only had enough to spend 100million each on Lukaku and Pogba!

Mourinho overpaid for not so great players and he is also not doing a great job of coaching them. I think his issues are different to Wenger’s situation as Manchester United haven’t really lost players like Arsenal have over the years such as Cole, RVP, Nasri, Fabregas who for one reason or another have forced their way out. It’s tough to come back from that which is really the crux of Arsene’s issue.
Because arsenal are tight and dont wanna pay the wages. Since ashley cole left city have climbed to arguably one of if not the best team in the league atleast this season anyway. And why and how. By splashing the cash. Cashley cole left for money. Samoney nasri left for money. Robin van payslip arguabley for money. Fabregas if we were a bigger club he would have stayed. Its not hard. Soend 50mil on a popular player. Make the money back in popularity. Its players who make the club. Look at madrid. When ronaldo threaterned to leave because of the tax charges they had to get their act together and back him. Because he attracts so many fans that of he left the club would loose huge profit and the Spanish economy would go down. Utd have pogba. Barca have messi. Cole was tapped up by Chelsea and if you are talking about his stupid story that he heard on the radio his new wage would be five grand less than agreed it’s rubbish. None left for money and in fact we overpay a lot of our players.
If I remember correctly Wenger offered Van Persie 140k per week. At man utd he was making 220k per week. In an interview after the move he said his child was mad at him because he joined man utd but his conscience was clear because his child’s future was “more secure”. That further confirms man utd’s offer was better than Wenger’s.
Arsenal have the money to compete. Maybe not exactly on that level but we have more than we spend. We made profit last transfer Window and always spend very little. The arsenal transfer window is always a joke. The board is just greedy and will suffer for it in the future. Arsenal are on a downwards spiral and this is the last season we can stop it. If we finish outside of top5 arsenal as a big club is done.

Away from the rantings of schizophrenic Mourinho, I think we need a quick, tricky, creative and goal scoring winger. Anyone who has watched the 20 year old Brazilian at Bordeaux, Malcom, would agree with me that he is ideal for our need. He’s currently linked with Manchester United for about 30 million pounds. The guy will be a better investment than Draxler or Lemar.

The transfers that Wenger has wanted was our bigger costing transfers. Ozil, Alexis, Xhaka, Lacazette.
Wenger wanted Lacazette last year and what happened? AFC panic bought Perez because they wouldn’t pay less than what they ended up paying anyway.
That is classic Gazidis symptom of trying to haggle too much and failing, do I need to point at Cazorla as another player we missed out on originally but got later on due to bad haggling? Bad haggling failed, AFC go in the next time and pay.
Or how about ElNeny after Wenger had identified and spoken to Xhaka? Cheap option wasn’t good enough and payed for the flop… I mean misused CM destroyer… 😛

Nasri signed a new deal with his previous club to give them a stronger negotiating position, Wenger (after Dein) didn’t miss out on this player, AFC payed what was asked and we got him. He was a potential and at the time was something like 3 or 4 million below our record transfer fee paid.
The next transfer was Arshavin and we paid for him, Gazidis had been at Arsenal a couple/few months by this time, not really an influence and could be Wengers transfer… ended in a flop so not really bragging about it 🙂 just worth thinking about when considering the politics that happen within a club. It was the 1st transfer Gazidis witnessed from Wenger himself, bad 1st impression?
Dein was the man who got transfers done when he was here, not Wenger. Gazidis was hired to replace Dein, not Wenger.
Gazidis failed to replace Dein and now we are seeing a Director of Operations come in, Gazidis friend from Barca, he got a winner in and from what I read it will be to do some of the stuff Dein did… Even though AFC hired Gazidis to do that.
Wenger is totally to blame for poor tactics and not motivating the team from the 1st min, he isn’t a saint.
I feel though that this is hope, DoO could be the real catalyst for change at Arsenal and we got a winner in to do that job! Bright side to Wenger staying is that he can spot talent. 3 of the 4 I mentioned above (big signings) was Wenger picked and they are quality. We could pick a best 11 from Wenger spotted but failed to get and that team would be full of world class players.
Any new manager will have some quality players from Wengers picking and I blame our position more on tactics and deff coaching (again Wenger), we have some real good talent which other managers would love to have, even if we may moan about them as fans XD
You are choosing to not say one important fact. NOBODY joins Arsenal without Wenger’s say so. Others may do the work but players only join if he agrees. There was one occasion when he wanted Welbeck on loan and Gadzidis decided it was a better deal to sign him on a permanent contract rather than pay the loan fee Utd wanted. Now you know this is the only such case because didn’t Wenger moan to the world about it, but it is the only moan!
You seem to want to insinuate the mad idea that all good signings are Wenger’s idea and any bad signings are the idea of Gadzidis and presumably Dein before him. Hardly logical is it fella? No face facts your favourite dinosaur having got 100% control, has way too much power at Arsenal.
As for his talent spotting I assume you are referring to Gervinho, Reyes, Stepanovs, Park, Chamakh, Silvestre, Squillaci, Santos, Arshavin, Inamoto, Bischoff, Denilson, Grondin, Jeffers, Richard Wright, Malz.
btw, Kroenke is not exactly a bag man, he paid for a stadium in LA, moved the lousy Rams, paid heavy for players, and now they are leading their division. He has cash, think been focused on the Rams a bit last two yrs, if he turns his resources to AFC, we could buy what we need. As a kind of pragmatic defender of Wenger over the years, this year he really lost me. The totally assinine devision to keep Alexis rather then sell for the 60 million was utter stupidity. Of course Alexisis form was going to fade, he is pissed off he could not leave. He is going thru the motions, barely contributing, which effects the clubhouse. There is no good way this could have ended up. If Wenger let him go, w not enough time to sign a player, we may have blamed much of this on Sanchez, instead now Sanchez will go cheap or free, and tear apart the team on the way down. I get frustrated when I see the gap in UTD and us, we was up there with them and I see the loss of Dein as the biggest warning sign that we missed. Dein wanted to push us forward, to get someone willing to invest in the club as a whole and move us forward into the changing environment we have since witnessed.
There is a new hope (and it isn’t star wars after this new disney bs), recent backroom changes and additions are a restructuring which I believe we needed to go through much sooner.
Arsenal have room for growth, we do not have the number of sponsors that UTD have and that adds up to a lot of money, the sponsorship deals we do have are in question as well.
DoO could be to aid in this, the guy has connections and this could enrich the club, we would have more to spend. Silent Stan may not put in but he hasn’t been taking out 100s of millions, our cash is basically our cash.
