Wenger tells Arsenal to forget rivals and focus on Swansea

Arsenal fans will be hoping from a look at this weekend’s fixture list in the Premier League that it could be a good few days for the Gunners in our pursuit of the title, as many of our big rivals for the EPL trophy have matches that look harder on paper than our trip to Swansea and two of them are playing each other.

Arsene Wenger, however, is doing what he can to make sure that the Arsenal players are not looking at the other fixtures and wondering who might be dropping points, because the Frenchman thinks that this might just mean that we ourselves could be the ones to slip up as he feels that every single game needs complete focus in order to get the consistency that any side needs to be crowned champions at the end of a long campaign.

He told the Arsenal website, “When you look at the fixtures, you always have that feeling every week [that it’s an opportunity] because the Premier League is so difficult.

“You will always feel that it’s down to us not failing. Let’s focus on the process. We have five months in front of us and it’s very important that we feel like we’ve given absolutely everything to finish at the top.

“It’s very important that we focus on the process, what we can improve, how much better we can play in the next game and how we can win the game. After that, we look around us and never in the reverse. We can’t look around us and forget about how much is demanded from ourselves.”

So even though the Gunners will head to Wales and the Liberty Stadium as big favourites against the struggling Swans, the boss knows that we must be well prepared and approach the game in the right way and after the last two starts against Bournemouth and Preston that means doing it from the first whistle.

Wenger said, “The preparation of the whole week sets the tone, and then the quality of the expected difficulty of the game as well.

“Then it’s a case of how big your ambition is to be at your best personally, to achieve something with the team that is special. That needs the consistency in your focus, and that’s what is the difference between a champion and someone who is not a champion.

“Ideally, we want to start strong and finish strong. Preston was a typical FA Cup game and always subconsciously when you come out of the Christmas period, you think it will be a bit easier in the FA Cup. It’s not.”

Neither is an away game at Swansea, so will be ready for it this time?

  1. The riddler is riddled with riddles ?
Let’s just focus on the quality that isn’t there anymore, Hey?
And not forgetting the consistent lack of ambition when push comes to shove.

  2. How is this the same team we managed to win only by 85th minute goal? Spurs are dismantling them and running away with their GD. We need to score today, lots.

  3. Spurs thrashing WBA at the moment, and in style! Pains me to say it, but they’re much better than us this season, and a better watch. Pochettino is yet another manager we’ve missed out on, just so Wenger could be given more time to do nothing!

  4. Hat trick Harry! He keeps getting better. Dele even better. Our youngsters never really mature. Growth deficiency?
