Wenger warns Arsenal to beware of Villa firepower

On the face of it, Arsenal should have no problem recording a home win over our Premier League opponents Aston Villa on Sunday. While Arsene Wenger and the players seem to have put our early season wobbles behind us and tapped into a rich vein of form, Paul Lambert and his team have been having a nightmare.

Despite a great start which saw then take 10 points from the first four EPL games, including a win over Liverpool, they are now languishing just three points above the drop zone. And the reason is not hard to see, because they have only scored 14 goals in all competitions, four fewer than Alexis Sanchez has managed on his own.

But Wenger has warned his players not to underestimate the Villa forwards as they all have the potential to hurt us. They have been dogged with injuries and not one of their strikers has scored more than four so far, but we all know what Christian Benteke can do because he has done it to us before. Gabriel Agbonlahor is just back in the team and his pace, power, footwork and finishing can be very hard to deal with.

They also have a good striker in Weimann and now have the creativity of their new signing Carles Gil from La Liga to create things for them. We should be able to cope and cause plenty of problems at the other end but not if we are not focused. Will Wenger’s warning be heeded?

  1. We cannot take aston villa for granted and just say, it should be a cake walk! We have got to be focus at the back esspecially, because if we approach this game to casual, villa has got players that can hurt us on the counter with their pace! So we must not be complacent! Coyg!

  2. Im very glad that le coq has signed a new long term contract! I hope he goes from strength to strength for arsenal fc and continue to excell for us! Coyg!

    1. We still need New CDM. Bielik is isn’t ready, Arteta is as useless as Djemba-Djemba, Flamini and
Diaby will leave after this season.

  3. Just because we beat them away convincingly doesn’t mean we will do the same thing at home. Defensive errors can give Benteke chances and he doesn’t need many to score

Ospina, our defenders and Coquelin need to do their job for 90mins. We need to control possession, defend well, break up play etc

Honestly, I think just having Paulista on the bench will help the team mentality and boost our positive attitude

On the other side. Walcott and Giroud need to convert on their chances. In the Brighton game after Brighton scored their second goal, we had a few excellent chances to score but didn’t. Giroud in particular has scored over 40 goals for us but misses many chances. He needs to be at the top of his game with Sanchez out.

That said, despite Sanchez, Ox, Welbeck not being available, I believe that we have the talent to win. And winning is all that I’m hoping for

  4. Villa gooner hurt us without Alexis. Only half decent player we got.

Without him we would be 3 points above relegation if we lucky, so please we ain’t much better off for quality.

Previous article stated Jack will improve us when back, How? He a reserve player, maybe championships material.

Really people niff something and wake up.

    1. We were without Sanchez for whole last season mate, but we were atop of PL until Jan.. Stop making comments like these which would only make ourselves feel we are a one man team, which we aint in reality.. If Sanchez was not there some1 else would have played in his position and contributed for team’s cause.. Remember Mancity game, he didnt play that well, was losing balls all over the pitch.. Santi and Coq stepped up and did the job for us..

      1. Spot on. Strange really isn’t it that in the media eyes Arsenal having a quality match winner in their ranks is now a capital crime and something we should be thankful for otherwise we would “languishing in the relegation zone” and last year we were ridiculed for not having any top quality striker/match winner. Pathetic one-eyed hypocritical garbage. Who the f**k would be scoring City or Chelsea goals if they didn’t have Aguero or Costa? Both of whom have scored a higher percentage of their team’s goals than Alexis has for us. Go figure.

  5. According to every manager the next
team is always the best team in the
Universe. Be it Chelsea Stoke Charlton
    Halifax Scunthorpe Dorchester on Thames
Scilli Isles under 5’s the next team is incredible.
“We must not weaken our resolve against Slackbottom
Upperthong or Shittingham a win is vital”.

    Villains 2 :

    Spiderman
    Sherlock Dred Blade Santos
    Terminator Thor SilverSurfer
    Tardis Ironman
    TMNT

  6. Every game Wagner warns about the next
team. Brighton had 11 world cup members
Middlesbough have 9 ballon d’or winners.
Just for a change he should say
“Villa are usless turn up pis#ed guys
    we’ll put 57 past them hic “. 🙂
With the Villains he reckons we should fear Bentaxle
their own Gabriel Agabonerhore, Wee mann
and Charles de Gil from France.
And if thas not enough they have Dred
Iron man and Thor on the bench
Thank Goodness we are the Incredibles
    Will Wagners warning beheaded?

  7. My prefered lineup against Aston Villa
    Ospina
    Bellerin
    Mertesaker
    Koscielny
    Gibbs
    Coquelin
    Cazorla
    Ozil
    Rosicky
    Walcott
    Giroud

    1. @moneytalks: we need Ramsey to play alongside Le Coq not Rosicky who likes to bomb forward but other than that, I like your team choice.
