What can Arsenal fans expect from Henrikh Mkhitaryan?

What Henrikh Mkhitaryan brings to Arsenal?  A guest post by Viraj from Arsenalcore.com

“Henrikh Mkhitaryan – the name enriching the Emirates for years to come”, says one Arsenal supporter. “The first step taken by Wenger which may turn this squad into one of the deadliest teams around the globe”, comments another.

This is the excitement which have got to Arsenal fans after Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed his move from Manchester United with Alexis Sanchez going another way.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is regarded as one of the most intelligent footballers at the moment and many pundits like Arsenal legend Ian Wright claims this swap deal between Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a ‘Bargain’ for Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez is one of the best footballers around the globe, why let him go (over dispute of wages) for Henrikh Mkhitaryan? And How is it a ‘Bargain’?

The commitment of Alexis Sanchez to achieve with Arsenal had detonated down and he was constantly showing that he wants to change clubs.

This even led to dip in his form as he could bag only three assists and score seven goals in 19 Premier League appearances this season.

On the other hand, Henrikh Mkhitaryan comes with full focus and commitment. Many even suggest Mkhitaryan suits Arsenal more than Sanchez. So, How Mkhitaryan is more equipped to fit Arsenal’s ‘Style of play’?

Mkhitaryan is one of those midfielders whom Arsene Wenger can deploy around the offensive side of the game. He is so versatile that he can conduct his trade on both the wings as well as control the game from the middle. Mkhitaryan can even be deployed as second striker.

Arsene Wenger likes to move the ball between his players and make the attack patiently as well as with high technique, making oppositions fall on the intelligence. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is someone who like to create – get his team mates involved and get the ball rolling. He is suited for the way Arsene Wenger wants his squad to play.

Mkhitaryan is dangerous getting the keepers disturbed from long range and his intelligence is highly rated in footballing world.

Arsenal have players like Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey who like to link up and gets the team involved. Just imagine the countless passes between these guys before the ball finally gets to strikers or before finally a shot comes off.

Particularly with Mesut Ozil, its expected that the duo will create loads of ‘aww’ moments in the coming years.

Arsenal even brought Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for a club record fee. Aubameyang is known for his frisky pace and effective shooting abilities. But, more than anything else – the chemistry between Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan makes them one of the most dangerous ‘duos’ in English football. Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang established a pretty effective partnership at Dortmund before Henrikh joined Manchester United.

The rebirth of this bromance of Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang is certainly a boon.

CONCLUSION

Great things are expected from Henrikh Mkhitaryan by Arsenal supporters and the Armenian is born for achieving big. Arsenal with Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang looks ‘deadly’ on the offensive side of the game. They are certainly going to achieve big things together.

  1. Hopefully Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang teamwork can flourish again at Arsenal, like what they had at Dortmund. Mkhitaryan’s movements are unpredictable and his work rate was high at the Everton match, he was willing to chase and rob the ball from the opponents.

I want to see his teamwork, movements and work rate again at Wembley.

    1. “Just imagine the countless passes between these guys before the ball finally gets to strikers or before finally a shot comes off.”
this is part of the problem!!! it’s frustrating when pass and pass and pass is all we do.
So with Mhiki now, are we hoping him and the team cont their pass and pass game?

      1. I saw Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang played more direct than the others at the Everton match, probably because they just joined Arsenal and have not been influenced by Wenger’s system yet.

I like his work rate and aggression, similar to what Sanchez did in his peak form and similar to Kolasinac’s performance when he came at the beginning of this season. I hope his energy stays the same, otherwise Wenger’s system could affect him badly like what happened to Lacazette and Kolasinac.

        1. I don’t think Wenger is at fault when it comes to Lacazette except for playing too many Welbecks and Iwobis around him up to now. The lad has been unlucky and also lacks pace/strength for the Prem.

Kolasinac, I feel is the same problem as Xhaka — nothing to do with the system, it’s just that some players need more aggressive man-management, and these 2 are perfect examples of players who would be better under Ferguson or even Mourinho.

  2. Mikhi already booked the first hattrick assist of the season in his 2nd apps. The different between him and other flankers (may they attackers or full back) of us, is his timing and accuracy. He’s adding new quality of simplicity to our football.

    1. That was exactly what i saw in that Everton match. Put Ramsey, Jack, Iwobi in Mhiki positions for those final passes that watch would have ended 2-1. The only player with that intelligent and selflessness is Ozil.

  3. Rooting Mikhi and Laca partnership too. I hope they can work something out. Praying the day I see the 3 play together.

  4. What I liked from his game against Everton was his direct play when he had ball he don’t do backward pass but he is finding someone in the box.

  5. I thought we were getting him, then he went to United. But to have him now along with Auba is just brilliant!
Hoping for some more assists on Saturday..maybe even a goal COYG

  6. “The day Conte leaves Chelsea, if I was Arsenal, I’d be straight on the phone,” Merson toldThe Debate.”Managers like Conte don’t come along too often.”Arsenal need someone that is going to go in there and upset people. Conte upsets people. He wants you to playa way and he’ll make you rock solid at the back. As soon as Arsenal get rock solid at the back, they’ll be a force. These guys ( Merson, Wright and Petit ) need to shut up. What they have is privilege not intelligence. How can he say Conte will make us rock solid at the back when his team just conceded four goals against Watford. Petit is guy that i like but he saying such bullsh..t about Laca situation he is losing my respect. If they can’t help, they should stop unsettling the players

    1. Did you watch Chelsea last season? Conte won the league straight away! That’s what the pundits are talking about. When was the last time Wenger won a league title, or even challenged one?

Arsenal’s defending is Sunday league standard, and has been for years, so yes, Conte would easily improve our defence. I would take him over Wenger any day, although to be fair, I’d take pretty much ANY manager over Wenger haha!

      1. What kind of spurs loving fool are you saying conte over wenger get off the arsenal pages ya joke conte seirously if wenver has only domi ated the matchups a legend plays beautiful football to watch and you want to bring in boring conte who cant tie wengers shoes whatever he won one title we won fa cup same year ya spurs slouch in another final this year win or lose were there conte needs to go invincible win another title and a bunch of cups lear to play entertaining attacking footbal lete wenger retire when hes ready then maybe conte can become a gooner if he can match a tenth the love wenger has for the club

        1. Me i just love the way arsenal play its so exiting and also so stressful, it is said that its the best team to watch if your a neutral and things only got better with Mikhi and Laca

regarding AW in or out= if out it will definitely effect our offensive way we play and when his in we suck at defense, there is a saying if i spit down its my beard and if i spit up its my mustache if you get my meaning 🙂

the best manager for Arsenal with our tiki-taka way of playing is Pep and i do believe we he was linked with Arsenal but AW decided to stay longer

        2. Thomas you need to wake up pal.Wengers teams USED to be great to watch but they are not as free flowing as they used to be and it is years ago that Wenger had a great team.
After we gave Chelski a good spanking last season in probably Conte’s fifth or sixth game in charge he immediately re organised them and went through till the new year unbeaten. He had them very solid at the back and scoring goals for fun.And all this with a squad of players he inherited and their top striker Costa wanting Away. They ended up romping to the Premiere League Title scoring loads more goals and conceding far less than Wengers Arsenal. We by the way are treading water at best this season and would not bet on us finishing above Chelski even allowing for the season they are having.
You are also ridiculous when you state anyone who has a view different from yours makes them a Spuds fan.Comes across as pathetic mate to be honest when TMJW was only stating the obvious.

      2. Running down the line and diving into the crowd is not really the Arsenal way. Don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of passion, that’s why I’m a big fan of Argentinian managers. Mix skill, organisation and toughness together. Simeone for me.

        1. Getting back to to the original question, what does Micky bring? in one word “Bundles”. I was a big fan of Lex like most of us we’re, but in the end he made it quite obvious to us that he wanted out. With the thought of losing him and Ozil for nothing, was to say the least “disastrous”. But to get not only Micky but Auba as well and then keeping Ozil was beyond my wildest dreams. The way Micky just demanded the ball at every oppotunity was so impressive and then he’s distibution was first class, what we’re Man Utd thinking about letting him leave, mind boggling but a great deal for us. Thankfully I will now definitely be renewing my season ticket for the 37th year following on from 25 years on the terraces with the same excitment as I did as a 7 year old. What we need now is a goalkeeper, a holding midfielder and a central defender, three additions that I’m sure will come in the summer. It will then IMO be between us Man City for next years title. Gunner for life.

          1. Good you got everything back on topic Ken.Bang on with everything you said but need to add a pacey winger to the shopping list in the summer

  7. I dreaded this guy any time we played Dortmund then. It was a bargain that we got him. Sanchez was no longer effective for us. We are now hot upfront playing as a team.

    1. Sánchez was just a selfish player have never see same as Ronald at Madrid is about himself I am glad is gone too much fruitless efforts and Mikh is a complete footballer in Carzola calibre something we been missing for a while Hleb, Rosicrucian and Fabregas

  8. I would take Conte in a heartbeat, Chelsea’s results this season dont reflect on the manager they reflect the fact there scummy players give up the ghost and play to get the manager sacked the second they hit a rocky patch.

  9. if you like park the bus, defensive and long balls footie then Conte is one of those….Italian style

  10. Mkhi for Alexis was bargain for us. Mkhi in the market would have cost more, as he is a creative players of Ozil’s class. Maurinho destroys creative players, while Wenger nourishes them.

Alexis the ball hog, did not actually fit into the Arsenal attacking mold, even though he was a skillful player, as he held up the game too much. Attacking teams need to move the ball player to player fast to daze the defense, and what Alexis did was give time to organize the defense. That is why despite having so much possession, we did not get in enough quality shots.

Mkhi and Ozil know this and prefer forwards who run and are fast enough to exploit space in front of them (or behind the defense).

What Mkhi will do is make the strikers better. Not just Auba, who will likely score more than at Dortmund, but also Laca.

Basically, we gave away a problem child in Alexis, and go in return a player who will enhance all those around him.

Now people will not give Wenger credit for this. That is what bad fans do. But, without Wenger the others won’t be there. What is good is that Wenger do not have to make the decision on money anymore it seems… though I suspect he could veto if someone ask too much for a player. But, the players coming in are coming because of Wenger. Ozil signed with assurances that Wenger will be there for the duration of Ozil’s contract.

There really is no replacement for Wenger. One of a kind. When he leaves, we will live more dangerously, and can even implode as the new managers do not care about the future of the club.

    1. You I want Wenger gone more than anyone else but I always give him credit for some things because I do believe he is one of the main reasons why Ozil re-signed. If anyone has read Ozil’s biography you would realize that both of them have a very strong relationship and Ozil respects more than any other manager up until now. I am man enough to say I am wrong about him at certain times and for one do not listen to most of our Legends such as Wright because they are talking out of their asses. Martin Kweon is one of the few sensible analytical legends we have and he always has valid points instead of acting like Ian Wright who is like a woman on her menstrual cycle. The worst part is you have some fans who are so retarded that they will believe anything Ian Wright says because Ian Wright was a great footballer for us and he is an Arsenal Legend. They give us Gooners a really bad look when most of us are not remotely as retarded.
