There’s no guarantee. But it would be great to see more quality player join us.
I think the way we are, we have a decent shot at defending our PL title but with more quality in the squad will strengthen us even more
LW is a priority if Martinelli leaves and if Jesus also moves onto pastures new then we still need to look at adding in that area.
I think because of how late we are in the window any ‘Elite’ player will come at a very high premium if any at all.
I am really hoping that powers that be have some cunning plans up their sleeves as if they don’t we will be quite short in these areas especially with our fitness history.
I fear we maybe after Alvarez and it looks like, we are his only escape route. It doesn’t fit right with me.
Fernandez Pardo could be the solution as the youngster is equally at home through the middle and on the left wing..A terrific young prospect who can provide competition for the impressionive Tzolis.
I agree, I like the cut of his jib from what I’ve read so far.
The left wing is clearly going to be shallow if Nelli goes, given the number of games we will need to be performing at an optimum level in. We can’t get our original targets without overpaying, but that doesn’t mean we have to settle for less depth given our financial status is solid. I’d even take Rashford for depth, though last I read it seemed like he is staying put.
I don’t understand why we’ve sold all our left wing, before we’ve got any incoming left wingers.
It does make one believe there is a mystery man which the rumour mill hasn’t picked up on yet (such as Fernandez-Pardo mentioned by Grandad). Berta and MA play things close to the vest which is a good thing.
Apparently Al Hilal (the club which had been negotiating for Martinelli) is in the lead to acquire Neto from Chelsea. An indication that perhaps Nelli isn’t leaving this season after all?
Hard to get clarity about much in the last week of a transfer window with all sorts of comings and goings. I hope we hold onto Nelli if the alternatives aren’t better, but I understand there are many other issues at play too (financial, strategic and tactical). I also don’t want to see him get frozen out, as Arteta occasionally does with otherwise decent players (cq Norgaard, Ramsdale).
BB, apparently Chelsea want €100m for Neto, while we want €60m for Martinelli.
Martinelli’s agent is in discussions with Al Hilal over personal terms.
Yes HD, the last I read, Al Hilal was wanting to pay him about double his Arsenal wages. Good for him and I really think he would destroy the Saudi competition. I believe Watkins is already set to join them.

And it’s not good for Martinelli at 25 to go to the sandpit. Nelly is delivering as a squad player rotation option here at the Champions – would we have got to CL final without his goals along the way. His defensive work fits our system perfectly.
He should stick it out and prove MA wrong again, like Skells doing.
I was congratulating him on such an increase in wages, not for being sold from the Arsenal. Yes, I believe we would have easily made the CL final considering the draw we had. His defensive work is beyond reproach and would be the most difficult thing to replace in the team. I love most things about Nelli but for whatever reasons he has had many seasons to prove anyone “wrong” and not yet done so imo. MLS is just starting out and, up to now, I believe has correctly been used and developed given the squad’s needs.
I’m in broad agreement with Stephanie on this one.
If M A and A B can’t get who they want, particularly with the Transfer Window Clock ticking down, maybe we might have (with a bit of luck on the injury front) enough in the attacking locker, (particularly if Martinelli and Jesus do end up staying,) to get us successfully through to the January Transfer Window, and then make moves again.
I think a lot of wasted time and energy was lost on V J and a lot of time and energy is being lost on
J A, which may yet prove to be wasted – and there’s very little time left.
Apart from that, I think Arsenal have had another pretty good Transfer Window.

I’m looking at my crystal ball right now, and what I see happening in the next 6 days for Arsenal’s final transfer dealings of the summer window:
1. Gyokeres goes to Atletico Madrid as part of the deal to sign Alvarez.
2. Martinelli is off to Saudi Arabia for a hefty profit
3. Jesus is off to Napoli with Arsenal subsidising his wages somehow.
You heard it here first.
4. Arsenal will sign another winger to complement Tzolis on that left side.
