Which of these FOUR managers profiles is perfect for Arsenal?

If you were to choose who will succeed Arsene Wenger, who would you choose out of these four best? By SK

It is an open secret to every football lover that Arsene Wenger has lost the Midas touch to turn things around for the better in Arsenal. Even the professor himself is having thoughts of calling it quits with Arsenal this season (although he may not want to admit he is considering leaving).

However, there is this fear among football pundits about who will be the coach to take Arsenal to the next level? Many are predicting a sort of mini crisis for Arsenal after Wenger leaves, probably at the end of this season. Here is my own list of four possible coaches who could take over the coaching job at Arsenal and still achieve results.

MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI: born 1967, he began his coaching career at Aglianese in 2003 but left the next season due to bad results. In 2005, he joined Grosseto FC, where he coached for a season before being sacked due to bad results. However, his coaching success began with Sassuolo FC. After joining them in 2007, he quickly led them to a promotion to Serie B after winning the Serie CA title. This success was what made Cagliari come for him, after just a season with Sassuolo. While at Cagliari, he ended the 2008-2009 season in 9th place with them, a result which was their best in almost 15 years, as at that time. This he did despite lacking top class players and with a sweet attacking style of football. From Cagliari, he went to AC Milan and there he won the league title for AC Milan for the first time since 2004! He also led them to their 6th SuperCopa Italiano, just in his 2nd season. Currently, he is with Juventus, whom he has guided to their 4th consecutive serie A title, two domestic doubles and a Champions league final, which he lost to Barcelona. There are strong indications that this may be his last season in Juventus, fueling the rumour that he may be heading to Arsenal, before the start of next season.

JURGEN KLOPP: Born in 1967, Jurgen Klopp started as coach of Mainz, whom he led to the 2005-2006 UEFA Cup. While at Mainz, he recorded 109 wins, 78 draws and 83 losses. From Mainz, he was hired to coach to coach Borussia Dortmund, and in his seven years at Dortmund, the former Mainz coach led them to two Bundesliga titles, including the 2011/12 domestic double, and then a UEFA Champions League final. It was that record that persuaded Liverpool to appoint the charismatic 48-year-old in October 2015. So far at Liverpool, he has led them to one Europa League final and he has changed their style of football. He is a charismatic coach who knows how to bring the best out of his players. He is on my list because just over the weekend, there were rumours in the news that Barcelona were looking to hire him to coach them, after this season! If there was a chance of him leaving Liverpool at the end of this season, wouln’t it be nice to see him come coach Arsenal?

PEP GUARDIOLA: The current coach of Man city was born in 1971. He has only managed four clubs so far; Barcelona B, Barcelona FC, Bayern Munich and Man City, his current club. At Barcelona B, he won the Tercera division in 2007-2008 but his major trophy hauls were with the Barcelona senior team where he won: La-Liga (2009,2010,2011), Copa del rey (2009, 2012), Super Copa (2009, 2010, 2011), UEFA champions league (2009, 2011), UEFA super cup (2009, 2011), FIFA club world cup (2009, 2011). At Bayern Munich, he won the Bundesliga thrice, back to back. He won the DFB Pokal twice, the UEFA super cup in 2013 and the FIFA club world cup in 2013. With the way things are going in Man City, who says he may not be forced to leave after just one season in charge? But the question is, will Arsenal pounce on him if this becomes the case?

DIEGO SIMEONE: This is probably the coach every Arsenal fan will wish should succeed Master Wenger when he steps down! The 47 years old coach is probably the best suited for the job, given his track record. He won trophies with Estudiantes and River Plate, both Argentine clubs. However his European adventure in Atletico Madrid has been nothing but exciting! He won the La Liga with them in the 2013-2014 season, he won the Copa del Rey in the 2012-2013 season, he won the SuperCopa de España in 2014. In Europe, he has proven his mettle by winning the UEFA Europa league in 2012. He won the UEFA super cup in 2012 and he was the UEFA Champions league runner up in both 2014 and 2016, losing to both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, respectively.

So Gooners, if you were to make a choice based on these profiles, who will you choose?

  1. Arsenal really are a disgrace in Europe. Even Porto and Leicester got respectable losses today. Arsenal were out of the tie in 10 minutes in the second half.

Manager? The only one that will strike fear in the players is Simeone, but you will have to give up possesion football against the big teams, that is his tactics against the big teams. He will determinately make the defence more organised and stronger in challenges.

Allegri looks likes he doesn’t have respect of one of his main players with Bonucci incident recently.

Klopp and Pep are not going to come to Arsenal for sure.

  2. Klopp and pep we can forget about. Allegro maybe, seems a bit of a crazy dude if you ask me. Simeone I would love but he’s not a suit, (compare pep to pullis). I think he’d scare the cucumber eating sandwich board that we have in place, is there anyone else strong enough to work with him, gazidis, pmsl!!
I think we’ll end up trying for the type of manager like koeman, martinez, brendan Rodgers etc. Young, well spoken, sharp in a suit, ammeanable by the board but strong enough to manage the players etc. Going to be an interesting one. My old man said today “I know when I say this you’ll go mad but……I think Arsenal could be a lot worse of than to appoint David moyes!”. I didn’t shoot him down as I get his point. He was royale fooked by saf and never stood a chance at mu. In politely declined my dad’s kind suggestion 🙂

  3. Klopp manages Liverpool
    Guardiola manages City
Why would they come to Arsenal?
Well, I guess they know they wouldn’t get fired by Arsenal lol
Seriously, you can count them out

I would be happy with any of the following:
    Simione
    Allegri
    Ancelotti
    Mancini
    Benitez

    1. Benitez? That surprises me. I see him as a bit of a loser who’s career stalled after Torrez went off the boil. What has he done since he left Liverpool?

  4. I want change as much as the next fan but I’m not that deluded to think that it’s coming any time soon lol ?
    Here’s the latest:
“Wenger to turn down big money move to China”?
    “Kos wants Wenger to stay”?
Oh and santi is ruled out for the rest of the season ?

  5. I would take someone younger to be honest but I don’t mind Allegri. It will be a winner, recent winner, coaching the squad. However, we need a DoF just as bad as we need a new approach/coach. You heard Gazidis, he’s not into buying and dealing in the market. In fact I don’t even know why the fsck we need a CEO. What is he doing? What is his purpose? What the fsck recommended someone from South Africa with no notable football achievements to preside over a club like Arsenal?
Wenger is going to sign the contract the board allegedly put on his desk immediately after a string of 2-3 victories. Then we will not win any of the last 4 games (I hope y’all seen the schedule) and the rage will reach the climax. It will be too late anyway. We may be able to scrap 4th place, who knows but the team will be (it is already to be honest) at its lowest, mentally speaking. Summer will come, Sanchez, Ozil and probably many others will jump ship. Everyone will hope Wenger pulling a miracle with a depleted squad, this time it will be too little too late.
Best thing is to announce now Wenger is leaving, supporters will back him up 120% until the end of the season. They may be even sing for the whole 90 minutes. It will not matter when he announces, team IS NOT PLAYING ! He can’t motivate them to play. It is so obvious that I don’t even know where to start. He is not doing himself and the club a favor. I don’t have hopes, much hopes anyway. We are stuck with this status quo.

  6. Well said Budd
I know he’s trying to make light of the situation but it genuinely is like he’s trying to match or beat fergies date of retirement, stubborn man!!!
Correct though with a new manager should come a new dof whos in line with the modern game, decisive and has some balls.

  7. With wengers input I expect our next manager to be some young up and coming French man that no one has heard off 🙂 omg deja vu

  8. Based on arsenal system we need a manager who can work with a limited transfer kitty and still challenge for the title. To me that man is diego simeone, the guy created a team that could challenge the top dogs(barca, real, bayern) he has beaten all of them. Allegri to me seems like a very huge risk unless he is given a huge transfer kitty which is unlikely. Hve been thinking why not we do a zidane and bring in our own legend to manage (but who is the question). I hope wenger decides what is good for the club and not his greedy desire of matching someone. I think we should stop kidding ourselves with this football philosophy. We tried to imitate barca and it has clearly failed. Lets try to find our own unique style of football. Even wenger himself is confused by his own philosophy thays whu

  10. There is no doubt in my biased mind that of the managers you list Pep is the best balance of brains and passion. However, neither Pep nor Klopp are available.

I am deeply suspicious of Allegri. He lost the confidence and relationship with his squad and that should be a warning sign. Also, although he deserves some credit for what he did at Juve but he inherited a winning team with Juve in a league that was basically a one-team league with Inter and AC Milan going through difficult times.

Simeone, on the other hand, has successfully competed with Barca and Real on a tiny budget relatively speaking and has shown success in Europe. However, I don’t think he wants to leave Madrid and I doubt this weak owner and board would have the balls to hire him.

One manager you don’t mention is Monaco coach Jardim. Like Simeone he doesn’t have anywhere near the funds of his nearest rival (PSG) yet he has been successful. At the moment Monaco sit atop the French league and he has had no problem knocking a much more exprienced Wenger with a superior squad out of the CL last season. I believe Monaco also won the CL group this season. This is guy has a plan B and adapts to what he is given in terms of Squad. He aslo carries natural authority which has helped him manage big name players like Falcao and Moutinho.

    1. He won it with AC Milan a number of seasons back. Italian’s are no strangers to drama, I’d want to know more before blaming the manager. Look at Terry, all the trouble he caused new managers after all that glory went to his head. Bonucci is the J Terry of that club. Two sides…

  11. This is a no brainer for me…Diego Simeone hands down. He is a fighter, motivator, tactician and he is BEAST! With him we will never be destroyed 6 or 8 goals like we have with Wenger.

  12. Jorge Sampaoli needs to be an option. Sampaoli is playing beautifully flowing football right up near the summit. Leonardo Jardim is another one, a couple good Monaco players in that team. Jardim would be for those who’d like to keep with the French link along with full out attacking football. Personally I like Sampaoli. Koeman is another option. These should be on your list over Pep Klopp.
