Who do Arsenal want next in the FA Cup? (Preston ?)

So Arsenal have successfully avoided another potential banana skin yesterday in the quest to repeat last season’s FA Cup win. We now have the enviable record of nine wins in a row at the Emirates and we seem to be hitting form (and regaining a full squad to choose from) as we enter the “squeaky-bum” time of the season.

We have a tough Champions League game against Monaco approaching fast, but today we will find out who our next opponents are on the road to Wembley. The draw will take place at 7.30pm (UK time) tonight, before Manchester United take on the mighty Preston North End in the last game of this round. All the Fifth Round games so far have produced a winner so here are the allocated FA Cup quarter-final draw numbers:

1 Liverpool
2 Arsenal
3 Aston Villa
4 West Bromwich Albion
5 Bradford City
6 Blackburn Rovers
7 Reading
8 Preston North End or Manchester United

Our route to last years Final was helped by usually being drawn first out of the hat, and after winning 40 of our last 41 FA Cup home ties, we shouldn’t really fear anyone at all at the Emirates, but personally I would rather that e left Liverpool or Man United to meet in the Final. Wouldn’t it be great to beat the Red Devils at Wembley to round of our season?

But if our luck runs out and we are drawn away for a change, I don’t think anyone would be to perturbed if we had to travel to Reading (just up the road!) or even the Midlands clubs of Aston Villa or West Brom. I’ll certainly be happy with Bradford as we owe them a beating up there, and I’ll even accept Blackburn at a push, but the icing on the cake would be a draw between 2 and 8 (in a state, as they say in bingo) and then find that we are facing Preston!

Who would you choose as our best draw tonight?

  1. I want them to progress at the expense of Man U, but I don’t want meet them because they did us a favor if they knock manure out.

    1. we’ve drawn winner of MU/preston.
the draw should not happen before all games have been played because there’s a fair chance that now Preston is more likely to throw in the towel since they feel they’ll have to beat 2 “giants” to win the FA cup.
FA needs to change this setup.

  2. I hope it’s a home game, whoever our opponent is.

Honestly, I feel positive that we can beat any of these teams.

    What mean squeaky bum?

  3. OT: normally players ask for other players Jersey after the match, but coaches and officials ask for OZIL’s Jersey I.e Platini (world cup final), morinho, and Karanka yesterday. Why?? Because he’s from another world. And he’s more than just a player!!! #COYG

    1. Platini got Ozil’s shirt for Rhianna during the World Cup. She actually wanted Gotze’s shirt but Platini was closer to Ozil and got his shirt instead and gave it to Rhianna. She later posted pictures of herself holding Ozil’s shirt.

      1. Then tell me about the pictures she took together with german players, and gotze was among them. she still can’t collect there Jerseys there???????????? Explain

  4. don’t really care who we get next round as long as its at home but i don’t want pool at finals(if we do get there). It will be gerrards last game in liverpool colors(assuming they don’t make it in to Europa league finals) and it’ll be neutral venue where liverpool would start throwing the f**king kitchen sink.

  5. would easily beat any of these teams on current form. Hoping for a home draw we are the favourites to win

  6. I’m not really fussed about Liverpool because I can see us besting them but we just never ever beat United, it’s rediculous, our record against them is hideous so I’d like to avoid them.

  7. – Liverpool I’m confident we can beat… at home.
    – Any Championship side we play better against… at home.
    – Man U, we should’ve beaten this season… at home.
    – We murked Aston Villa 5-0… at home.

Home. Let us be at home. [standing ovation ensues]

  8. @Matt, lol ha hahaha!! You want to be in thhe safe zone! Right???? It sounds more like this to me:::: the Fear of Manure is the beginning of Wisdom.

  9. Well! If we happened to get Man United, we will deal with them. Wouldn’t we? I personally want us to draw Blackburn at the Emirates stadium for a repeat of the 2012 FA Cup game. I have forgotten what round it was. But I remember I watched Gevinoh missed a sitter against Blackburn. Then Blackburn went on to score one awkward goal that beat Szczesny against the run of play. Abu Diabi tried all he could to equalize, but to no avail. This time around, Blackburn will be thought a hard soccer lesson if they venture-in again to the Emirates stadium. Time to pay back our money to us. I wouldn’t mind if the FA told the Gunners to go to the Valley Parade to collect the debts Bradford City are owning us when the uncharacteristically knocked us out of the Capital One Cup after a shoot out at the Valley Parade. The Gunners will make the Bantams to fully pay the debts they are own us if we are told to go to Bradford. If I have my way, I want either Blackburn at the Emirates stadium or Bradford at the Valley Parade.

    1. also wouldn’t mind Liverpool or Man Utd(Preston?) at Emirates. This is our last chance to use our homefield advantage and most likely we have to face one of these teams eventually. I’d rather it be at Emirates than at neutral ground.

    1. Not bad, we got Preston!

If it’s United then too bad, we’ll have to beat them at some point anyway.

  10. Our real test will be against them. If we have to prove to the world that we are really back then we better knock them out. Man united are not playing attractive football but they know how to get results. It will be more tough than city away.

  11. So we’ve drawn ManUre away. The main issue for me is that they have played CRAP all season but are winning games which is a bad sign!! But we would have had to faced them some time in the competition so let’s make the best of it.
We have to take our A team and our A game to Old Trafford. We are likely to have amost a full team complement, so we need to combine our performance against ManCity, with the games against Boro’.
We need to dominate United and outscore them, because they have a track record of knocking in late goals. Gabriel could be a big contributor to this game with Kos + we need Santi, ozil and Sanchez to perform at Old Trafford
COYG – this is a key game of the season
