Why Arsenal should sell Sead Kolasinac this summer and sign a replacement

This summer represents another time for teams to sign new players as well as discard current ones, and Arsenal is no different from any other team in that regard.

Mikel Arteta isn’t one to give much away when it comes to his plans for the club, however, the Spaniard is expected to make some changes to his team when the transfer window reopens.

The Gunners want new defenders among other positions and we would have to sell some defenders to land fresh ones. One defender that I think we should offload while we can is Sead Kolasinac.

The former Schalke 04 man has not had the best of times in an Arsenal shirt, and every summer it seems like the new season would be the time for him to eventually prove his worth as a Gunner.

However, after making 95 appearances in three years, we have become more accustomed to him getting injured in matches than watching him play week in and week out for a lengthy period.

The Bosnian will be 27-year-old in June and I think that this is the perfect time for us to sell him if the club can get any meaningful value from his sale.

We have already spent on Kieran Tierney whom I believe could be one of the best in the league for years to come, selling Kolasinac and using his transfer fee to land one of the many free agents that would be available would make perfect sense.

  1. Rumour has it we’re after Tagliafico…
Would he then be Tierney’s back up? Or does Mikel want to keep Sead?
    Who knows….

    1. Tierney IS the back up!! He’s out way too much to be relied upon as the main LB. He’s the new Diaby!

      1. 😂 he’s back training, QD! With the season set to restart on 20 June, surely he’ll stay fit until then at least!!

  2. He is just one of at least ten or even more who I would love to see gone. The entire present defence, bar ONLY Leno and Tierney, for starters.

  3. Saed was signed because he was a freebie.A disgrace to the LB position which Cole once played for us.Tierney is a top top player so why do we want an error prone player who has one average game in a dozen. No sentiments we are a football club. This man has zero sporting ability for an EPL competition.Would be a perfect fit for some third rate competition.
He, Louiz, Mustafi and Socrates should just walk out once the window opens.

  4. Well, if the above figures are correct from Ime (which I have no reason to doubt) an average of 31 games per season in the premier league is not that bad a statistic – compare that to Bellerin, Tierney, Chambers or Holding.

If Arteta sees him as surplus to requirements, then so be it – whatever one thinks of his skill level, he has never let the club down and I personally believe him to be a good squad player at the moment.

    1. Sorry to disagree KEN but you state categorically your own mere opinion , when you claim he has never let the club down. I say his constant woeful defending has very often let the TEAM, though perhaps not the CLUB per se, down.

He plays many games because, as I am sure you will have noticed there is not much fit opposition for his position. Once fit, Tierney will soon make the LB SPOT HIS OWN, BUT THAT IS MY OPINION KEN, NOT A PROVABLE FACT.

      1. Of course it’s only my opinion Jon, but can you name any player, not just defenders, who have not made mistakes within the “team scenario” since Sead arrived in 2017?

As for the “club scenario”, balloon inhalers and lockdown breakers certainly HAVE let the club down and Kolasinac is not one of them – just as important in these troubled times and during the losss of football.

        1. As for Tierney, 100% agree on that, but remember that Kolasinac has had his injury problems as well and we need a proper cover for Tierney, as to date, his playing time has been cruelly decimated – saka cannot be seen as that cover if we are to get the best out of this wonderfully gifted young player – therefor Sead seems the logical back up squad player…just my opinion of course.

  5. Tierney is a good left back, Saka will be a back if not a usurper of the left position. Sead Kolasinac can go if the right price is available but if not, he stays as a back up while saka compete up field

  6. Kolasinac has had some awesome games, he’s had a few errors but that could be said for most of the team.
I’m hoping Arteta can coach the best out of him and use his physical strength to our advantage in certain games.
I feel the right manager could get Arsenal into the Champions League with these players + 1 or 2. I’m hoping Arteta is the right manager.

    1. Ditto Abbas Ditto – we are too ready to slag off and ditch players, why I don’t know.

  7. Sell Kola for $15m and bring in Kurzawa on free. Both on similar wages. Adds $15m to transfer budget for similar onfield output.

  8. He was signed as and is a back up, and can come in a game and help strengh that flank under constant threat. He was often used that way, support RB when needed.

Not sure he is really a concern or pb today nor before, but a DM and CB we missing for years is a major one!

We must offload bankable & players we do not need and bring in a top CB and DM desperately needed for years.

Xhaka, Torreira, Sokratis, Luiz, Mustafi, Elneny, Mikki

Buy Koulibaly urgently, show ambition in order to keep & extend Auba 1 year.

    Swap Laca for Partey.

    Leno
    Bellerin Koulibaly Saliba Tierny
    Partey

This looks very good, gives many options in middle and upfront with Niles , Willock, Gendouzi, Ozil, Rowe, Pepe, Nelson, Martinelli, Saka and Auba, Chambers can also help as DM.

Our issue is in that central defense area, Koulibaly and Partey additions make our team complete and title contender.

Focus on Kolas seems so far from this reality we suffer from for years!
