Why Arsenal still have every chance of winning the Premier League

A lot of people, including a lot of depressive Arsenal fans, wrote off Arsenal’s chances of winning the title after we lost our first two away games. This is why I think it is much too early to predict anything…. Pablo Picasso

One game at a time. Eyeing the EPL trophy at this moment is too far fetched even for Man City and Man United.

The big boys will most likely cancel each other out, so far only Arsenal vs Chelsea / Liverpool vs City /LLiverpool vs Arsenal have played each other, and we have Man City vs Chelsea coming up, so more drama to come plus a few shockers from the lesser teams too.

– Man Utd – is still on a good run of playing lesser teams, their team is already wearing down with injuries piling up. They’re hard to beat at the moment though a well organised team will give them a lot of problems. Its mostly muscle and less brains out there.

– City – Pep, you cant play that type of football for a full season in 4 competitions. The players will most likely burn out at crucial stages. Not even your Barca or Bayern played at this pace and those leagues are less physical and have a winter break. Beautiful to watch yes but wait until body parts start falling off players on the pitch.

– Chelsea – looks well balanced to me, I see them either getting the UCL and finishing 4th or 5th in the EPL or winning the EPL and getting knocked out in the last 16 of UCL. Something has to give, especially with players like Luiz in there.

– Spurs – are one or too injuries from total disaster. A long term injury to Kane and/or Erickson and they wont look so special anymore. Like last season they don’t have a bench for 4 competitions.

– Oxpool – have a leaky defence which will cost them having consistency to contest for big majors. We may more likely be in a dog fight for fourth with them and Spurs, but who can predict anything right now?

So lets keep calm, shut up shop at the back and we have a good chance of winning a match. We also need to improve our goal difference because come May small details will matter.

  1. Yes, the season is still long. As long as the fully committed players like Welbeck, Iwobi, Kolasinac, Mustafi, Monreal, Koscielny, Elneny, Bellerin and Lacazette stay healthy, Arsenal could fight for the title. We should not give up or pessimistic before the battle is over.

And Arsenal would need new ammunitions in the next transfer window, in case Sanchez and Ozil announce their departure.

  2. Even the game against WBA was a struggle on Monday. It wasn’t convincing. We will probably beat Brighton 4-0 or something tomorrow and people will think we can win the title. Then we will likely fall to Everton who so far have failed to win against any of the big teams.

Everton, Watford, and Man city away in the next 3 of 5 games will tell you all you need to know about this season.

  3. the weaknesses of other title contenders are mentioned above, what about ours?
Pessimistically speaking, We just can’t beat the others in the long run, they have more committed and success driven players and coaches(unlike wenger)
Optimistically speaking, If arsenal can keep up a good performance till January, let’s say we beat all the small teams and and draw against other big teams( plus one or two wins or losses), come January if cazorla comes back(and stays injury free) and wenger gets a winger then we could actually have a chance

  4. This article is a bit biased. Why don’t you list arsenal’s deficiencies as well, you will see we have more issues than most of those teams. Forget us winning the league until wenger leaves, stop setting yourself for heartache and lower your expectations to competing for the top four, i know as fans we are supposed to hope but arsenal’s situation will be the same as many years before because nothing shows us otherwise. The only way wenger will ever win the league again is if most of these teams go back to being mediocre and even when some of them were, we still didn’t win it for more than a decade. Some of what you said about those teams are disrespectful like man utd is all muscle no brains? We are not the real deal so be humble!

  5. Arsenal- we still need another CB cos Koscielny is gradually turning into a Kompany… and the other CB options are not very reliable.
…. we need a backUp to Bellerin in RWB.
..initially, we needed a reliable CM to partner Xhaka but I think in d month of September Wenger did well rotating Ramsey n Elneny in that position and Wilshere is back, Cazorla ll be back after Christmas…

so we need a CB as good as Kosci(vanDijk/Koulibably), and a backup to Bellerin (Cuadrado maybe).

  6. Oh god no… Stan is looking at buying usmanovs shares in afc… Giving stan 97% ownership of arsenal. WE CANT LET THAT HAPPEN.

    1. No it must not happen cos then he can demand the final 3% and have total ownership, de-list the club from the stock exchange and do what the feck he wants, which at present he cannot.

      1. Not a lot we can do though if Usimov does sell. This is a really depressing possibility though as Evil Stan could then take us off the stock market, register the club in America and use our cash to prop up his other failing sports clubs and there would be nothing we could do about it.

        1. Thats what im worried about… Usmanov might take his money and put it in everton? This is seriously the worst thing that could happen to AFC. Lets just hope Usmanov doesnt sell.

  7. We will not win anything unless we sign a proper center back. Only 2 established ones to start the season is absurdly arrogant, given our injury records. I would like to be optimistic about injuries to the team but it doesn’t look good for past seasons.

Don’t expect too much for Jan…. as usual, we will hear players are expensive, no players are availablle, why should there even be a Jan transfer window and whole lot of bull.

    Things don’t change..,.

  8. if we win i would be the happiest one of them all it’s been too long, but to actually win don’t get your hopes up mate. top 4 and with dedication and commitment a europa cup we got the players to achieve that, to me that would be an excellent season! man u or man city this year they actually bought the players to strengthen them so don’t write either pep or jose they are both tactically superior to our manager and will motivate their players all season long and they have the depth to compete on all fronts, pochettino needs to go to spain or Italy too good of a manager for the spuds, so yes i support arsenal but i’m envious of what our rivals have and realistic about our title chances.

  9. Some silly comment again tonight firstly someone mentioned Mustafi and Bellerin as fully committed players ? Then another comment suggested we need another’s top cm partner Xhaka when in reality he needs to go

  10. There is no way Arsenal are winning the EPL this season.

My money would be on Man City, especially after the way they beat Chelsea yesterday at Stamford Bridge. Man Utd will probably challenge them, and maybe Chelsea and Tottenham will stay in touch with the leaders.

    But Arsenal? Absolutely no chance.
