Why Cazorla can help Arsenal overcome injury crisis

Although there is at least good reason to hope that the Arsenal injury list will soon be a lot shorter than it is right now, Arsene Wenger still has a problem on his hands. When the club football gets back underway after the annoying international break is over, the Gunners could have as many as seven first team players on the sidelines.

That is according to the sports injury website physioroom.com and even though they have Hector Bellerin and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pencilled in for a return to the Arsenal squad this weekend, there is no guarantee of that. And they also take no account of the fatigue factor for Alexis Sanchez, Gabriel and Joel Campbell who will be the last Arsenal players to return after some long haul globe trotting.

It seems cleat that even though injuries to the likes of Wilshere, Rosicky and Ramsey have left our central midfield weakened, the biggest problem facing the prof is the front three and that is where I think our little magician Santi Cazorla could wave his magic wand and come to the rescue.

It took me a long time to be convinced that Cazorla was being well used in his new deep lying central role but he has definitely done that. But he has often done great work for us in a more advanced position or on one of the flanks as well and that could be where we need him most against West Brom on Saturday, especially if Wenger is serious about giving a rest to the jaded looking Alexis.

Ramsey would be the ideal player to come into the centre but we also have Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, so is it time for the manager to shuffle the side around a little and to make us of Santi’s versatility and wing play?

  1. we could start arteta in the middle and move either carzola or ozil to the wings but still would be one man short assuming sanchez and campell are tired, so am tempted to imagine that iwobi too starts.

  2. pls if there really is nothing to write on…………. Dn’t write any…… Its pathetic, the nature of articles written in the last fews days…….. Can’t believe some die hard fans are even writing on stuffs like “Alexis exit” like its some interesting story…….. Plus am i the only one who thinks the number of comment on ere is reducing Drastically?……….. #PrayForJustarsenal#

    1. like the last part. writers pls stop this nonsense. but cazorla must be right where he is. he in that postion is directly proportional to our good results. can’t you see when we had no gools from rightside (especially when rasmsey was there) and alxis dipped in form we still got the points because of how the way and the system at the middle works?

  3. I do not think Wenger will move Cazorla to the wing. He already mentioned that moving him will actually disturb two position which he does not want . I think Wenger will stick to the same team that has played against spurs. If he really wants to rest Sanchez than he will play Gibbs in his position. Thankfully Bellerine is back to give is the edge. Some how if the team can cope these 3 to 4 matches grabbing all points, then we will have our players back and can really go for the title

  4. Granit Xhaka would be a great cover for Coq.

See his clips against Juventus, not so bad. Good reading of the game, calm dribbling, hard tackler, ball winner, and for 15m quid, it’s a bargain.

  5. I Really like Jack as a player…….If Xavi (one of the world’s greatest mids) compliments your style of player, and under respect says he does not ”play the English way”‘ you deff talented. Gotze said it as well….

I don’t get why people are saying sell him to city? seriously? Coq started blooming at 24 years of age, jack is like 23 cummmon man guys

I strongly believe, (without the injuries) – why does it happen:/…..he wouldv been on the level of Isco and Gotzwe to name a few….

Yes he gets injured often, bt I think he’s naturally cazorla’s successor and more importantly he is a true gunner….well that’s just my 2cents

Just needs abit more consistency and needs to take advice from cazorla and ozil, to release the bal earlier, and learn from cazorla how to use his centre of gravity to his benefit

    Cheers COYG
