Why Wilshere suspension NOT so bad for Arsenal

It was surely no surprise to Arsenal fans when Jack Wilshere fouled Hull City’s Gaston Ramirez after about an hour on Saturday and even less of a surprise that the referee showed him a yellow card for the challenge. Because that is unfortunately a part of the England midfielders game and the fact that it was his fifth Premier League booking of the season clearly highlights that.

It also means that Wilshere will have to sit out the next league game but I don’t think that this is such a bad thing. Firstly, his cards show that Wilshere is putting himself about in the middle of the pitch and that is what we want from him. He could do with being a bit smarter in the tackle but he is young and at least committed to the Arsenal cause.

Plus he could do with a little rest as Ramsey’s injury means that he has played almost every minute of every game and the little injury scare is a timely reminder of how much time he has missed in recent years, partly from being over played by Arsene Wenger.

And the timing could hardly have been better because Sunderland, who were thrashed 9-0 at the weekend, are our next opponents and Aaron Ramsey is fit again, sdo we really should be able to cope without Wilshere up at the Stadium of Light.

Finally, Jack will hopefully give a little bit extra against Anderlecht in Belgium tomorrow night, knowing that he is due to miss the next match. So do you agree that this suspension is not actually bad news for Arsenal?

  1. we perform better when Without Wishere and Ozil…..

the players are able to play at their preferred and natural positions……

    1. Don’t mix Wilshere’s name with Ozil’s to make the other look bad. We have played well with Ozil as #10 and won games. Ozil is played out of position most times, Why don’t we try Jack on the wing and see what he will offer us

      1. we have played Wilshere on the wing and we played bad. it happened last season. also, Sunderland lost 8-0! and finally Jack always gives his all, he’s one of the few that gives 200%

    2. everytime whilshare is never a No 10(CAM). Arsenal have Ozil, carsolar, and rosisky for No 10 position which are to be rotated depending on the game at hand while ramsey, whilshare and maybe OX fights for BOX to Box player and some game when walcot is not available rosisky or nabery can play from the right…..Team selection and tactics has been Wenger problem for years. Does he even know his players as well as their abilities….. I will like an article on that. “DOES WENGER KNOW ARSENAL PLAYERS AND THEIR ABILITIES”

  2. Arsenal needs Cazorla to return to his 2011/12 form if this season is to be a respectable one. Elsewhere, Cesc, Oscar, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen and Di Maria are inspiring their teams. We need the same level of performance from our attacking midfielders too…

    1. Cazorla is the key to us playing well.. When he has a good game we win games..

He is the best no10 at the club.. I just miss that 2011-12 first season form, he was on fire..

  3. OT:wenger says arsenal is not playing to its potential.it is something i have become worried about as an arsenal fan and im glad the boss has talked about it, because on paper we have a strong team but on the it a different story.i know some of you will blame wenger for many things but this a has nothing to do with him.if the coach has picked you as a player to represent club then you should give your all

    1. @thando: “i know some of you will blame wenger for many things but this a has nothing to do with him”
i disagree with that: the switch to 4141 has been a disaster: we were much better at 4231 with inferior personnel (w/o sanchez, welbeck). if we went back to 4231, played caz/ozil at cam and true wingers on the sides (ox,campbell,sanchez,..) and did NOT play wilshere, we’d be ok.

wenger’s also to blame for not changing lineup to account for the opponent,
      for not subbing early,
for not rotating sufficiently between PL and CL.
all these are not to do with the squad, but the way the manager plays that squad.
i also think the players are getting dispirited bc the senile fool plays ozil on the left,
didnt try hard enough to get DM/CB and they can see that and it affects their morale.
yes they are professionals, but they’re also human: they can see they are close to being a very good team but their weird manager keeps signing more CAMS while they languish tremendously at the back.

  4. Too many “every cloud has. a silver lining” or “look on the bright side” type articles. Injuries and suspensions suck.

  5. I actually do feel the team plays better without Wilshere and Ozil in the starting line up, i expect a victory i hope i am not disappointed, i actually expect arsenal to secure 6 points from the two up coming games in the champions leagues, while starting a good run of games in The epl.

Yes the team has its problems but have enough talent in it to give any team problems. hopefully good sense will prevail and we get the CB and DM needed, giving us a wider selection pool for the defensive area in regards to certain matches, it also removes the idea that certain players have to play because the are irreplaceable or no other alternative

      1. unfortunately i have come to the conclusion that
        we do better w/o wilshere.
ozil: if he plays at cam , we do well.

i really like wilshere but he needs to learn
to play longer passes and run less with the ball.

          1. He has been better for the English national team and not Arsenal, try very hard differentiate between English national team and Arsenal

  6. We are one crap side so far this season, who’ve or whatever combination we decided to play.Still their my team and I will support them whatever. COYG

WAKE UP dogs breath and print this.

  7. “his cards show that Wilshere is putting himself about in the middle of the pitch”
his cards show that he gets frustrated when we are being outplayed and he doesn’t havbe the ability to do anything about it.
His cards show immaturity as most of them are completely avoidable and unnecessary.
His cards hurt the team not help it.

OP: By the way the score was 8-0.

    1. Yes, exactly. Jack is immature, temperamental and has no grasp of the mental side of the game. 4 years ago, that was understandable. There is no excuse for it now and Wenger needs to stop coddling and enabling him.

  8. I agree that the suspension is a good thing (wish it were longer). I don’t agree that the cards are a good thing. Most of his cards are stupid and unnecessary. All they show is Jack’s immaturity and emotional fragility. He’s a hothead who plays recklessly and out of control.

  9. Am I the only person who thinks that Wilshere has been one of the better players in the arsenal team this year? Seriously i have seen a major improvement, whilst others like Ramsey have not continued the form they showed last year…

  10. I will keep saying this everyday and everytime whilshare is never a No 10(CAM)…..Arsenal have Ozil, carsolar, and rosisky for No 10 position which are to b rotated depending on the game at hand while ramsey, whilshare and maybe OX fights for BOX to Box player and some game when walcot is not available rosisky or nabery can play from the right…..Team selection and tactics has been Wenger problem for years….does he even know his players as well as their abilities….. I will like an article on that. “DOES WENGER KNOW ARSENAL PLAYERS AND THEIR ABILITIES”

  11. Fans who mix Ozil name and Wilshere have serious issues.

One is a proven world class player (but, as usual, miss used by a clueless manager) and the other is just, and I mean just, a favourite of a tactically inept manager.

£42millions of pure talent put on the wing because he played that same position for Germany, forgetting that comparing the German national team midfield to the one of Arsenal is just madness. The talent of the German squad is immense… How do you think they won the world cup?

Wilshere place is on the bench even when Ozil is injured because Cazorla and Rosicky are better players.
He loses the ball in dangerous position and never (or rarely) tracks back because he doe snot have the pace, the physical attributes or he is just not bother (since he is a confirmed first choice in Wenger deluded mind).
