Will Arsenal finally keep a clean sheet against Everton?

Let’s be honest, the Arsenal defence has hardly improved since last years farcical form under Arsene Wenger, and if anything may have even got worse! The Gunners have conceded 9 goals in just 5 games, and conceding 2 against the Ukranian minnows Vorskla at the Emirates is beyond embarrassing.

But Unai Emery is hopeful that this abysmal run can end tomorrow when Everton come to visit. When asked about this problem, Emery said: “I want to win. We are winning but maybe we can analyse one day, we don’t score our chances and the opposition score a lot of chances we can lose the match. I want to continue improving in all things and find the balance. Now it’s very important and our objective to improve in the defensive moments.”

And when quizzed on what he thought the reasons for conceding were he replied: “There are different things. For example in the match against Newcastle we didn’t concede a lot of chances, and the goal that we conceded in the last minute is something we can work on. It’s something where we can give them the mentality so that it doesn’t happen again. I think this match is a good example of how we have improved in this. Yesterday was different because after we scored four goals, the team relaxed a little and conceded one or two goals. One was a mistake, but I think we have the solution and the first chance we have to prove that is against Everton on Sunday.”

That is definitely going to be a tall order to be honest. Although we have a great record against the Toffees, they have scored in 6 of our last 7 meetings, and they have actually scored inn every game totalling 11 goals already this season, only 2 less than Arsenal.

I still think Arsenal will win, but I doubt very much whether we will get our first clean sheet in this game…..

  1. Yeah doubtful we’ll get a clean sheet tomorrow. Hopefully Lacazette will be fired up for this one, we look so much better up there when he’s on it. Auba found his goalscoring touch and he’s clinical when in form. So I have good optimism for a result even though I expect us to give chances away. I think it’ll be a tight game, but sometime during second half we’ll manage a cushion.

  2. I don’t care about clean sheets
    I just want to win.
When you have Sokratis, Mustafi and Bellerin in your defense, you can’t expect clean sheets anyway.

I will be very happy with any type of WIN

  3. Emery must sheet home
    the importance of the game.
    The team must sing
    from the same song sheet.
Do we go with the flat or the fitted sheet formation?
If the rain sheets down lets make sure we are not wet behind the ears.
May be we should play while being 3 sheets to the wind.
Lets select the best players on the team sheet.
Let’s make sure we finish ahead on the score sheet.
A win would be” sheet” hot 🙂
Baa baa Petr Cech have you any sheets
yes sir yes sir but none of them are clean
2 versus City one v the Toons
    and 3 versus Chelsea Kos they’re my favourite team 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. Such guff Barry Glik writes 🙂
    Lets get serious here.
The Toffees have spent big and
rate their manager yet their record is poor so far.
Wolves (A) Draw. Southampton (H) win.
Bournmouth (A) Draw. Huddesfield (H) Draw. Westham (H) Loss.
Bournemouth and Wolves away draws are decent results.
But the home draw with Huddersfield and the home loss to Westham
means the Toffees are teetering on the verge of collapse.
So they will be desperate for a point at least.
Expect them to throw the kitchen sink the Samsung HDR 2000 Smart 4K TV. .
and the neighbours pet elephant at the Gunners tomorrow
3 more points coming up foy ye olde Gooners 2morrow.
    COYG 🙂 🙂 🙂

  5. The way we’ve been defending, the only way we’ll keep a clean sheet is if they all wear condoms, there are more clean sheets in a brothel!

  6. Arsenal’s defense will only get better when teams realize they can’t out score us I would happily take another 4-2 win tomorrow
