Will Arsenal haggle themselves out of two key transfers?

Arsenal are believed to be playing hard-ball in their pursuits of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Jonny Evans.

Dortmund don’t appear to be backing down from their strong stance as they demand the Gunners to break their club-record transfer for their star striker, and have even moved to name him in their squad for the weekend.

With deadline day set on Monday, time is ticking swiftly as we attempt to wrap up our dealings, and I can’t help but worry that we may well end up without any more deals, or worse, end up signing players last-minute who are destined to fail.

Jonny Evans is also high on our wishlist, and with Manchester City having pulled out of the race in order to move for Aymeric Laporte instead, we are believed to be leading the race for his signature. We are yet to offer enough to persuade West Brom to accept however, with the Baggies claimed to be in want of £27 Million, but manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he is available.

‘Jonny is still at the football club and we haven’t had a bid put to us that is anywhere near acceptable,’ Pardew said.

‘We’ve had a couple of enquiries of what we would be looking for, and the answer has been “we’re not going to tell you”. You make a bid and you’ll get some gauge.

‘What I will confirm is what you already know, Jonny Evans is a target for other clubs, we might sell if the price is right, that’s that deal, everything else is pure speculation.’

Surely Arsenal won’t allow themselves to fail in another transfer window? Can we afford to not add both a striker and a defender this month?
